Not comparable fights, Whittaker utterly dominated Chavez, he wasn't decked 3 times in the 1st round. That 1st round automatically gave Pacman a 10-6 head start, which meant he only needed to win 3 more rounds and get a share of one for a draw. That means that even if Marquez wins 7 rounds and draws one, it's a draw.

People forget that the 1st fight with Morales was also close.
Hamed relied on a lot of launching attacks, and was often very flat footed, which would suit Pacman.
It would have made for an exciting fight, but I can well see Hamed getting battered senseless.
Hamed was a defensive genious in his prime and wouldn't have had too much problems avoiding 1-2s, Hamed had more problems with counter left hooks than straight problems. barrera outboxed Hamed he didn't even try to make it a war - he knew better, Pac would make it a war and his style would suit Hamed. Pacman is one of the best left hook punchers in the business, he's not a straight puncher by nature at all, watch his fight with Barrera and how many times he nails him with the left hook. Pacman was forced to add straight punches to his repetoire for the Morales rematch, as Morales had been nailing him from range with the long right hand and jab. On the inside he absolutely mauled Morales with terrific body punching and crisp short shots.
Hamed wasn't a defensive genius at any stage of his career, he got away with his technically flawed style against lesser punchers and lesser fighters than the likes of Pacman, Barrera and Morales.
A southpaws left hook is easy to move away from (travels too far) I spar with a southpaw who has an incredibly brutal left hook but he can't land it anywhere near me.
Barrera, Morales and Pacman are hype mate, not saying they aren't top class they are but they don't particularly have more ability than Hameds opponents. Hamed fought some top class champs and prospects, some really good fighters but without the HBO hype machine behind them.
Who did Barrera actually beat who was any good before Hamed other than MkKinney who Hameds victim Bungu beat twice? Barreras very good but hyped to the max.
Look at it this way - whys Barrera great - because he schooled Hamed and Morales, whys Pacman great because he battered Barrera, Whys Marquez great because he schooled Pacman, whys Morales great because he edged Barrera and Pacman - notice something they all have their defeats and Hameds is 1 of the least embarasing of those defeats and it wasn't THAT 1 sided

Yes but Marquez didn't get hit after R1 and probably lost at most 2rounds after that. That been said I probably need to rewatch it, its been a while.

Hype!!... come on, look at their careers!... as for hype noone was more hyped than Hamed... he was well on his way in America too till he started behaving like a knob and was found out in the ring... the truth is that Hamed didnt have it at the top... the likes of Morales/Barrera and Pac have won world titles at different weights and fought far more top class fighters... their records speak for themselves to anyone who knows a bit about boxing...

Hmm, if it's so easy to avoid, then how come Barrera couldn't get out of the way. Pacman also has a very good right hook and a terrific uppercut, it's not like the left hook is the only shot he has.
I know what you mean about Barrera and Morales being hyped, however there is no denying that technically they are very good, and both have proven themselves over a long period of time, look at their records, it's not all about names on the register, it's the fact that at 27, Barrera was a veteran of over 50 fights who was in his 13th year as a pro and still an elite fighter.
I have to disagree, I think that was a totally one sided beating. Hamed may have nicked the odd round, but really he was awarded the rounds where Barrera chose to coast, he never had Barrera in trouble, and never dominated any portion of the fight, and was roundly outboxed from the start to the finish. It was a fantastic performance from Barrera, and a dismal one from Hamed.
As I said, I believe that Marquez should have won, but to say he didn't get hit at all after the 1st is incorrect. He stood and traded for periods in the 2nd, but didn't quite do enough to win it, and you can see how easy it was for people to give Pacman just enough rounds for the draw.
Chavez was totally outclassed by Whittaker, it wasn't close on anyone's scorecards except the judges.

Its not immature its a fact allot of fans tuned in to see him get ko'd because they hated him - and the ranks do especially. Start a threadon any forum with Yanks and the racial comments fly alongisde exposed comments.
He gets less acclaim than Tyszu and Hopkins but P4P Hameds opponents are better and he disposed of them in more impressive fashion. Thats bollox
So what if Kelly came close (he didn't come that close Hamed was more off balance than hurt) the fact is he got brutally ko'd and Kelly was a top class fighter - probably up there P4P with a Vargas who nearly beat Tito if it weren't for low blows. Hamed pulls out a KO punch instead of low blows though
Anyway when was Kellys prime? He didnt win a belt till '93, he was 30 when he fought Hamed. Past prime? I don't know if he was in a 4 round fight - past prime usually affects stamina more

Its not that easy to get out of the way because its fast, I just think styles make fights and Hameds defense, movement and huge power would be all wrong for Pac, but we'll never know.
Barrera and Morales are top class and technically brilliant but putting them on a pedestal above the likes of Hamed (and other top class fighters from the era around these weights) irks me.
Styles make fights in boxing rather than 1 fighter been overated. Barrera had the style and skill to beat Hamed who'd lost his hunger/love for the sport (ie he didnt train much at all), it was a clear win but who knows if a different version of Hamed reverses the result. I think Hameds persona after Barrera mirrors Foremans after Ali - the invisable becomes mortal and that was too much to take. Ability wise Hamed is up there with the best ever at the weight. Pac will be outboxed again and maybe meet a devasting puncher who'll ko him, hes a very good fighter but the right style will see him defeated again.

Calzaghe gets the same thing from the Yanks and he's white... Ricky will probably get the same though his Irish ancestry may help him out...

Thats true, same with Lennox, 1 of the greats at HW, beat everyone but some don't even put him in the top10

Been an Arab around 2001 didn't help Hamed come back when he was getting death threats through his website because some obviously educated Yank thought he was in league with Al-Quida. I think that many Yanks hold that against him.

I didn't know Lewis was an Arab!... anyway, I don't rate Lewis in the top ten all time heavies but this is simply because he isnt good enough imo to be rated that high.... he fought in a weak era yet still managed to get koed twice by mediocre fighters... thats not top ten material I'm afraid...

Lennoxs comp is 1 of the best in history mate. Dempsey and Holmes lost to LHWs, Jack Johnsons comp is not too good, Marcianos best wins are against LHWs and old men, Louis beat some pretty poor comp, Foreman, Liston and Frazier were brief champs, Evander and Tyson both got beat by guess who (past prime but Lennox beat them and everyone he faced). Lennox is top5 minimum. Anyway gone way off topic there

Ali, Louis, Foreman, Marciano, Frazier, Holmes, Liston, Tyson, Johnson. I'd put Lewis about 8-10

Lewis fought in one of the weakest eras ever seen in the division... you only need to go through the record books and watch a load of fights to see that. Johnson fought the best there was before he even won the title... the best fighters Lewis fought (Holyfield, tyson) were on the slide when he finally faced them. To say Lewis is top 5 is simply ludicrous...

Sorry!! Wrong on 3 counts!!!
1. Kelley was past his peak & in fact was never the same after the horrendous beating he took from Alejandro Gonzalez in 1995.
2. The faded 33-year-old Bungu even in his prime was nowhere close to Barrera and Morales, even discounting everything they did above 122! Bungu's biggest win was a close decision over blownup fly Danny Romero, who was never even world-class above 115 pounds.
3. Omar Sheika is an Arab and very popular among black, white and brown alike in the U.S.!! Of course he is well-mannered and never did cryptic, sardonic chants in the ring like that macabre little routine Hamed stole from "Revenge of the Mummy" for his bizarre prefight ritual vs Barrera!!

People see Pacman and think he's a wild puncher that keeps coming forward to knock you out. This may be true but he also has VERY good boxing skills, great head movement and fast on his feet. Also one of the best punch resistant fighters in the game.
He also had a solid jab that would be a 'mare for Naz and keep him constantly off balance.
PACMAN KO's Naz in 7.

A few things...
#1 I disagree about Lewis, I think Lewis deserves a spot in the top 7-12, I have him at 8-9, but I can understand placing him at 10-12... I can't understand placing him outside of 12, or inside of 6.
#2 People in the US don't give a fornicate where a fighter is from, the only time people in the US ever show bias for where a fighter is from is when they match their ethnicity(Usually hispanics), or home town. (i.e. Juan Diaz is from Houstin, people from Houstin will root for Juan Diaz, Joe Mesi/Buffalo, etc... Castillo is Mexican, Mexican Americans will root for him.) There isn't a nationality thing, at all, there's no "Tommy Hearns is American, I like Tommy because he's American" If Tommy Hearns was from Zaire, it wouldn't have made a difference, as long as he had the same fights that he did, and was a well spoken nice guy.
Tons of people over here like Lennox Lewis, Hamed, Ricky Hatton(even casual fans), they don't give a damn where they are from... You are the ones who focus on that shit, not us.
There are very few people over here who ever mention a fighter's nationality, except when trying to remember someone i.e. "What was the name of that big puncher who Hagler fought before the Leonard fight? He was from Africa..." ; "What was the name of that guy that Vitali knocked out in 2 rounds? I think he was from Canada."
#3 The only reason Hamed's worst night was against Kelley, was because Kelley made it his worst night. Pacquiao is much better Kelley ever was.
Hamed has a chance to beat Pacquiao(in a theoretical prime for prime, not current, obviously), no doubt, but I would favor Pacquiao by a large margin.

I don't agree. I don't think Hamed has better counter-punching abilities than Morales or Barrera, and Pacquiao devastated both fighters.
One of the major strengths of Pacquiao is his ability to out-work other fighters. He throws a very high volume of power punches in combos throughout the fight.

That's true, except sometimes I dislike a fighter because of his fans being too nationalist. I like Calzaghe but some of his fans were completly obnoxious over the beating he gave to Lacey.

Sorry...the "one-dimensional" Pacman would blowout the pampered, craftily matched Hamed, who was thoroughly exposed in his first and only megafight!! Maybe that is why eastsideboxing.com is in the boxing biz and you are not!!
Erm it's not about being in a biz.
Morales is washed up and should of been at higher weights though, the first time he whooped Pac and Pac blamed the gloves.
How would a one dimensional Pac blow out the fast handed, counter punching, hard hitting Hamed?

Well people were saying he caught Barrera on a bad night then changed that opinion once he beat a washed up, weight drained Morales.
He goes power crazy and he paid for it in JMM fight.
Fighting Hamed was what made Barrera the big name other than his 3 fights with Morales.
PACMAN KO's Naz in 7.
Hamed has never been close to being KO'ed clean though.
