Since when?

It took him 12 rounds to catch Colajanni or however you spell his name.
colajanni almost got thrown out for running and not fighting Markus 'Beast' Beyer

The match ups may be controversial, but as a result of that the outcomes useually are not, I can only really think of the Johnny Nelson vs Tough Argentinian as a dodgy result

I hope Warren gets the promotional rights to stage it at the MEN, too many Sauerland fights are contriversial.
But Warren fights aren't??

Beyer probably doesn't have too many big nights left in him, and it's not like there are many people offering him big money either.

I guess it would make sense to offer good money as it would all enhance the build up for a Calzaghe v Tarver fight (for instance) if he has another belt.
probably the only time sauersausage would risk beyer is to send him off to win the title in the first place (against woodhall) and as you say, as his career nears the end

but i hear beyer was badly cut last time out (was it a week ago, or two?) - this could put things off. also, if calzaghe's dad turned down andrade, he might go over and do to him what danny green was supposed to. beyer could well be out of the equation

anyone think HBO are full of shirt for suggesting paul briggs? how the hell does briggs move down in weight, he's too meaty. and why would calzaghe move up at 7 weeks notice, and fight the hardest fu/cking puncher in the light heavyweight division?

"Joe LOOKS LIKE world class against hand-selected, limited, over-hyped sluggers. Noone is better than him in annilihating walking punching bags."

"Mundine is a better figher than every single of the hand-selected opponents Calzaghe has clobbered in his entire career"

"JC prefers, as we all know, to fight handselected, unskilled sluggers with the right passport"

"All he did was taking a cheap fight against a handlsected slugger."

Generally i would be inclined to agree that ppl are being TOO hard on Beyer.
However judging from his last effort against Bika, I'm not so sure anymore.
Hopefully if Beyer ever has another meaningfull fight against top-level opposition, we'll see a much more motivated and improved Beyer.

(a bit like Calzaghe suddently shining after some less than spectacular fights)

Oh and by the way, just in case you didn't know, Kessler and his team were demanding the earth to fight Calzaghe, quite a useful tool to use when you dont want to fight someone.
For the last couple of day everyone has been saying that Kessler deliberately outpriced himself from a Calzaghe fight being offered. Can someone PLEASE direct me to the source of this info.

All i've seen is a columnist at some other site making some remarks about it - but making no mention of a source. From where does this supposedly new info come?

It confuses me a bit since the few times Calzaghe has even mentioned Kessler, he's been making it clear that he wasn't interestet in a Kessler fight for the time being. This is Not consistant with Calzaghe having offered Kessler anything at all. But if someone has some different info - please share.

Harrison vs Polo

Barnes vs Vincent

Incidentally, the Jones vs Nelson fight was a draw.

I think Calzaghe will try all he can to get to Mundine before someone else does. If he does and he beats him, it will be one of the cheapest good-looking resumes in boxing that Joe will have.

Mundine would imo. clearly beat Beyer - so would Bute and possibly even Braehmer.

So - yeah - it sounds like Beyer will actually be a Calzaghe opponent.

Lacy picked Joe not Joe picking Lacy and it was the fans who wanted it so he took it.

Overhyped because of guys like you thinking he could KO Joe.

Reid was a true challenge and Mitchell one was a good brawl. Plus when has anyone in Super Middleweight been that good to be a challenge?

Your exagerating the handselected bit.

Your repeating your self about Lacy.

It wasn't clear to most of the fans except me that Calzaghe was going to lay the smack down since he's too good for nearly everyone in the SuperMiddle division. People bought into Lacy being able to hit too hard and then said Calzaghe was past his prime.

No he proved himself against guys like Reid, Woodhall, Mitchell etc who were former champs.

Bumdine has more of a mouth than talent and hasn't left Australia ever since Ottke KO'ed him. Mundine's best win before Green was Echols and I hear people hoped he had fought Green around 2003.

Mundine was offered a fight with Joe once but didn't take it because it was only 50k and Warren wanted options on him. Shows how much he's worth outside of Australia.

Bumdine is scared to fight guys like Kessler so he runs. Plus he was outboxed by Siaca enuff said.

Handselected is bs since Lacy picked him.

He talked words of wisdom and backed it up. :TU:

lvlarc_uk I agree it would be better than Tsypko anyway who got a gift fighting Magee.

Perhaps boxingchat can tell us how Many tickets were sold at Calzaghe's last fight against Lacy?
So it wasn´t sold out? Do they have a big hall in Wales? The Millenium Stadium might be too big? Or is he that popular? Ricky Hatton could sell out the Manchester City Stadium.....

I could imagine that Joe fights for 3 million Euros in Germany because he knows that Beyer is chanceless, normally. That could make the fight possible. Warren doesn´t pay 2-3 millions to Markus.

Not quite sure why you're winking..... But it's £2,037,900 right now. As I'm sure you knew. No way is Warren paying that to Calzaghe, let alone a Calzaghe opponent. Bubi is right, Joe can make bigger money by going to Germany. The fact that he got a career high payday by going over there to face Veit again tells it's own story. Germany is the place to be for the big bucks (or Deutschmarks, should I say) these days. It's worth noting that German TV has shown the recent heavyweight title fights at their time, rather than an early morning start in order to accomodate American TV.

You do the same mistake as many Calzaghe-fans: you think it makes your boy (Kessler) look better if you denigrate other fighters (Beyer). It doesn't - all it does is that it costs you credibility.
