i have to say, my tolerance level is just about through. with all this buggeiring about, the autumn/winter opponent better be fu_cking good. i'm starting to think, we have to sit through this disappointment for what, so we can se Calzaghe-Beyer later in the year? is it worth it?

maybe they want to fight Andrade later in the year. perhpas they're taking an easy one paving the way for a harder one. i don't blame enzo for turning down andrade at 7 weeks notice. as i said before, they're not going to jump in headfirst into a poss compromising situation. however, this is too fuking slow and it's getting a bit ridicuous. perhaps after seeing the lacy fight no one wants to come over here anymore

I'm not convinced the Beyer fight will happen, Warren has never been quick to pay out big purses to Calzaghe opponents. How many potential Calzaghe fights have fallen through over FW making ridiculous offers/demands over the years? The mind boggles.

But he had to pay Tszyu that money to get the IBF title fight over here and stop it going to purse bids. The difference is Calzaghe is already a champion. I mean he offered Mundine £50k with a 3 fight option to fight Calzaghe a year or two back. He was never going to take that.

Look at the Veit bout, the Germans are able (or willing) to put more money on the table than Warren. I wonder why that is, don't really have a good answer. In socccer for example English TV money is better than German money, why is it the other way round in boxing.

As for opponents, let's be frank about what can be considered a serious fight for Calzaghe and what can't. As people want to put him into their pfp-lists, the demands are higher than for a simple betholder.

At 168 the only credible opponents are Kessler, Beyer, and Mundine (with Kessler leading the pack). Every other fight could only be sold as a tune-up leading to something bigger. If Calzaghe intends to step up to 175, any beltholder there would be fine (maybe except old, inactive Tiozzo), as would bouts with Tarver, Jones, and Briggs.

But with so little preparation time they won't get any of these opponents, and I doubt the want them at this stage. Given that he has just unified belts, I'd be prepared to grant Calzaghe one tune-up bout against whatever tomato-can as long as they don't try to sell it as the fight the world's been waiting for. But in fall Calzaghe will need to step up if he doesn't want to lose his newly-gained credibility right away.

I'd give Beyer an outsider's chance (like 1:3) if he'd bring his A-game. He has in principle the boxing tools to be competitive with Calzaghe - the question is whether he can withstand Calzaghe's relentless pressure for 12 rounds.

According to whom? Team Palle? I don't think Kessler is that keen on facing Calzaghe or he wouldn't be asking for £1.5 million a figure he must know he ain't going to get. It's the oldest trick in the book, call someone out, then demand more money than you know is on the table.

A fight with Kessler wouldn't be as big a sell as his fight with Lacy, who was already pretty big box office in America. It's also far easier to sell a fight against a Yank than a Dane, who in reality nobody has heard of.

Before the Lacy fight, I was calling for Calzaghe to fight Kessler, but now he's got the belt from Lacy, it's less important. It would be a good fight for boxing afficianados, but for the wider masses, a fight of lesser magnitude than the Lacy win.

that's generally the way i feel about the fight.

it's a big deal for a couple of euro's posters on here.

but i'd rather see calzaghe-glen johnson.

or even calzaghe-froch.
