Agree you couldn't blame ITV for it, as it was a good one on paper, pity it didn't live up to it though

Yes, unfortunately I accidently read the result before ITV screened it - so I was very annoyed that ITV didn't treat the 12 round contest as the main event it was with Scott Harrison's pull out.

It should have been billed as the main event and shown live.

However, given the quality of the contest - I'm sure ITV feel justified in their decision.

I thought Komjathi was the perfect opponent for Khan's 6th fight... Not many of our top ten Light Welter's have a win over an opponent as good as Komjathi... Indeed I think people in the lowest third of the top ten might have struggled to beat him.

Khan was ragged and I do have some concerns over his mouth being open (asking for a broken jaw) and his low hands - but overall I still think he is a special talent and that was a good win over a game and decent opponent.

Williams was awful, worringly bad I thought. For a big man he seems he can get outstrengthed and even slightly hurt by much smaller men.

All this sticking his chin out patter sucks, any one of the top lightweights would be too much for Khan just now, fast hands to start with but no real power and his chin will get tested big time. Thought he boxed poorly, he was as ragged as hell i.m.o.
Completely agree about Khan - and have said this for some time - he won't do anything at world level.

It doesn't matter how many times ITV and McGuigan tell us that Khan looks 'dazzling, exciting, amazing' etc etc you can't make a silk purse from a pig's ear (or whatever the expression is.)

Khan has good movement, good speed and is fit.....BUT he looks like a guy who is chinny (non-punchers hit him and he looks a bit flustered as well as when he got badly hurt by craig Watson) and he gets hit by clean shots from guys who're not that good.

I predict the first strong, decent puncher he faces will chin him. He looks fragile.

I agree with you E - Khan looks easy to hit, and I bet SN keep him away from any kind of puncher for a long time.

I've thought the same thing now since his first couple of fights and he isn't improving on that score.

On saying that, it was a good workout last night, and if we are to believe he is the super hot prospect then this is the sort of fight he needs to be taking on a regular basis - I think he is quite a long way off a British title fight.

I still dont like seeing him having to learn the game on prime time national TV - Its a farce really.

fair enough points about khan. I do think that he does flatter to decieve a little. Those combos, whilst fast and flashy seem to have little power behind them.

But lets not forget, hes only 19, and I am sure he will mature both mentally and physically. He took a step up tonight and did well.

Khan proves yet again,he`s no puncher, very very week defence, easily hit, this boys history the 1st time he takes on a puncher! for sure.

khan is still a baby in boxing terms,it was a good learning fight but he does have faults to adress, his amateur style with quick hands feet ,long staight punches is slill there but over the past year u can see he's changing and looks so much bigger n stronger,he needs more time to develop as a pro before we judge him, read people saying he cant punch and last night there was a lot of arm punches from him but if he slows his feet down a bit and learns to sit down on the shots with his speed believe me the power will be there :TU:

Komjathi was an excellent opponent. He told us more about Khan in one fight than all the others.

Aye, it told us that Frank wont put Khan in against anyone who has a good chin and a good dig, cause Khan would get found out! Let's be honest here, the guy was fairly durable but couldn't punch worth a damn, he was never a threat to Khan from the start. If Frank really believes he will win the british title later on in the year he's kidding himself on, any number of young hungry lightweights would beat him. Put him in with a fit Martin Watson and see what happens, Watson would just stay close all night until he KO'D him. Khan still boxes like an amateur, is wide open, and doesn't have any real power after 2 rounds, thought he was ragged as f*ck and won't get away with any of the sticky chin out patter against a better opponent. Getting too big for his boots already, another Prince in the making. The only reason he's so well known is cause ITV think he's the best thing since sliced bread cause he won a silver. He fought one decent guy at the games and that was Kindelan, everyone in his half of the draw was poor when you compare it to Kindelan half.

Is this the same Martin Watson who got wobbled by a JAB last time out?
The only reason you know a lot more about 19-year-old Khan is because of the fight Komjathi put up.
Think about it.

Another Prince in the making? I sure hope so, a longtime world champ, pretty damn good.

Khan has a huge upside if he works hard in the gym. Im totally not convinced about his trainer. He's only with him because its conveniant for him. I feel he talent is stagnating. How much can an inexperiened trainer (with world class fighters) like Oliver Harrison really teach and improve a guy like Khan?? For a start I think Khans punches are not as snappy as they where when he was an amatuer. He could be so much more.

PS. That guys still better than anyone Mitchells fought. By a long way actually. But he was not better than the dangerous guy Murray fought.

Khan defeated the former Euro champ and the Asian champ at the games. Your a total hater.

I don't think Williams was as bad as some are saying, remember he had no sparring and was in a fight where he had everything to lose and nothing to gain really. Also the guy he was in with was strong and had guts, took some really good shots and looked strong. 15+ stone is still a pretty big man... its not as if Danny was fighting a Cruiserweight..... when Danny actually let his punches go he looked pretty good... the fact that hsi weight is so low with still over a month to go before the Skelton fight is encouraging... though I actually wouldnt like to see him too light as this might be a handicap against a guy like Matt who uses his size so much....

Bennie, anyone can get dumped from being off balance when a jab lands, Martin Watson is a right wee terrior, I think he'd be all over Khan, that's how I see it anyhow. Would pay to see it. Surely you can't say Watson is a dud now can you

Khan may well have beaten the former european champ but I didn't think that guy was that good, I think he had an easier draw than Kindelan did that's for sure. Actually I don't hate Khan, just think he's over-rated by everyone at this stage of his career, lets put him in with a lively opponent and see what happens :TU:

What worries me about Khan is that his attitude already has shades of Naz in it, what about that nonsense about wanting to take on Mayweather over 4 rounds!... he needs to have more respect.
He has great speed and obviously talent to burn but I'm not sure he is going in the right direction as a fighter... his defence is all over the shop and he isn't convincing when he's tagged.
He should be made to watch Hamed vs Barrera about 5 times a day so he can see what happens when you don't have the fundermentals in your fighting make up... fancy tricks/showboating will only take you so far....

I agree on both counts...first off that Khan is showing a Hamedesque lack of humility in that statement & 2nd of all that the main reason Naz lacked fundamentals was a premature jump to the pro ranks at age 18, before he built a solid technical foundation in the unpaid ranks!!

I think Khan’s power will develop. He’s still young and certainly hasn’t reached his physical peak in terms of strength and power. A few more years in the gym and he could end up punching like a bastard by his mid-20s.

A lot of people still seem to comment on him as if he's reached his peak...as if he can't get any better than what you've seen after 7 fights...

Well Khan keeps saying that he wants to be champ before he's 21 so he should be judged accordingly. My bet is that he'll pick up a vacant WBU title against TBA (rather than pbf!) and make about 15 defences before he goes anywhere near a world class fighter... certainly one that can punch...

Khan still has an awful lot to learn, a lot of amateurish traits were shown up on the night. The guy he was in with was obviously no puncher, and wasn't really troubled by Khan's shots unduly. I do wonder whether Khan has any real punch power.

Khan is expending a lot of energy with his style, constantly bouncing around, and when he throws his shots, he looked wide open at times. When he got tagged in the corner it was because he retreated in a straight line with his hands by his waist, when he found his back to the ropes, he was completely disorganised, and was lucky the guy wasn't a puncher.

However, this is only his 6th fight, so let's not get carried away, I doubt any other 6 fight novice in the country could have beaten his opponent.

I hope they tighten him up defensively, but in doing so, it may limit his effectiveness offensively, as Khan likes to fight loose and let his hands go.

Khan should be going for a Robinson type style, hands up, use the jab and then combinations when theres an opening, forget bloody Naz, that style is fatally flawed unless you are Muhammad Ali... even Ray leonard used the basics and only fought flash when he knew he could get away with it....

Khan looked ok but a bit open, was hard to see from where we were sitting as lots of people kept standing on seats and bobbing there heads around. He got a great reception and threw some good shots but his foe was experienced and showed a good defence. I agree that Khan should cut out the bouncing around because otherwise he will end up knackered in 10 and 12 rounders burning all that nervous energy.

The show as a whole was not a bad one i thought, Williams looked a bit poor at the end and well open, the crowd warmed to the Turk who showed lots of courage and came forward well and it was a shame it ended so abruptly.

Magee-Takaloo was a bit of a dire event, i don't know what others thought but i had the impression Magee had done enough and so did others around me, he seemed to be picking the classier shots but Takaloo was coming forward more. The row i was seated on had a completely empty row in front so people were using it to walk through to the other side of the arena. As everyone stood up to see Khan enter Eamonn Magee skulked through in front of us, i was going to put out my hand but was afraid he might chin me! He had a hat on and his face was swollen and he was limping very noticeably so maybe his leg injury had re-surfaced. Wayne Alexander wandered by on more than one occasion but not many people recognised him.

Some good undercard fights on, Jason McKay looked good in with Conroy McIntosh and with another Wolverhampton lad Del Spencer on the card as well it made me feel at home! Rogan V Morgan was a good scrap, both a bit out of proportion but a fair result for Rogan. Kevin O'Hara got a good workout with Daniel Thorpe as well.

Thanks to ITV I only saw the last 6 rounds of the Magee vs Tak fight... I know everyone keeps saying how bad it was but I thought it looked an interesting chessmatch type of fight.... which is part of boxing... the commentators seemed totally biased to Tak and ignored the fact that Magee was landing some decent punches off the ropes... a lot of Taks punches were being blocked... mAGEE seemed to fade in the last few rounds but I'd like to know how things went in the first 6 rounds.
The leg injury has definately taken its toll on Magee and he seemed to be rooted to the canvas at times which was sad to see...

I'm not sure what the TV impression was but i thought Magee was picking the nicer counters and Takaloo was missing a lot, as i said Magee was definately limping heavily after the fight so it must have taken it's toll as expected for such a bad injury. The first round was dull and neither man landed a punch or threw one for the 1st minute, the crowd booed and Dave Parris called them together to tell them to start throwing, Magee shrugged at the end of the round and held out his arms as if to say "It's his fault not mine" but the Belfast man was negative throughout. However i didn't think it was that bad although well below expectations, it was a chess match and i suppose the judges favoured Takaloo's agression and willingness to bring the fight over Magee's backward work, Magee looked tired late on and seemed to take a few head shots as well.

People are so hugely critical of Khan! Yes there is plenty to improve on, but of course there is - he is still a baby both in age and experience. Why not look at the many positives? He is a talent with potential. As for the comparisons and criticisms of Naz well its crazy, Naseem was a an excellent fighter and world champion. His points loss does not discredit his achievments. As for his style, well its his style which helped him be so succesful. The notion that hands low is a impermeable barrier to success has some logical merits but ultimately Naz never got knocked out and had a fantastic career.

In terms of humility, well I have no problem whatsoever about boxers being confident, over confident or even arogant.
