Graham Houston seems pretty reliable thus far. He didn't get Winky v Taylor right (nobody except Doug Fischer at maxboxing did), or Tarver v Hop, but these were not the results people expect.

Yes, year in year out Houston gets more right than anyone else I've ever read. He hardly ever gets them wrong, and those two mentioned above were very hard calls to get 100% spot on.

He is also a damn good writer.
Probably the best of the journalists around at the moment (other than when MacIlveney (spelling?) does the occasional piece).

Where does Graham Houston do previews - on a website or do you mean stuff in Boxing Monthly.
On the Mr Bilton mini-saga, this thread has drawn out a few people with 'Posts: 1' by their name. I smell a rat.
Leave the poor sod alone. You don't have to take his advice. Don't take mine either. Another 50 down the drain on Winky. Taylor far better than I expected.

Cheers states. Need to start making some money back. Having a mare of a year. Even when I think I call 'em right (Skelton-Williams) I do my brains. Will certainly check out that site.

A few on weekly betting thread in the current scene forum went for the draw on Taylor-Wright. Armageto usually puts up what he thinks are good plays, he's had some good wins recently and he's pretty consistent , pop in next week

Exactly what I am thinking, I can guarentee that Mr Bilton has posted on this forum on at least one occasion- but it is not for me to say what user name as that is up to him. I will say that I cannot GUARENTEE that any of the username's posting on this particular thread are him.
Agree with the rest of your post also, just because he isn't right all of the time doesn't mean he knows nout about the game. I've apparently, earned some US gambler shit loads on British/European fights via e-mail - still didn't stop me from putting a wager on Mario Veit to beat Joe Calzaghe in their first meeting.

on the subject of DEREK BILTON i made a post on the website regarding him and i am just confirming that i am part of no conspiracy to degrade him, but after reading some of the other posts i am now of the opinion that somthing underhand may be occouring, but i must admit that i thought "garethdooley"s post was hilarious.

Gareth Dooley aka professional gambler. Do me a favour.
You are telling us you will put your cash down on a subject you nothing about because someone on a website gives you a tip. Come on.
I am not Derek Bilton.

Just like to say thanks to the chaps who offered up Graham Houston at fightwriter, had a little browse around and the man does seem to 'know his onions'.
I'll check out his previews over the coming months, looks as if it could be a worthwhile excercise, thanks again all.

The point is he's giving you value for money on long(ish) shots...that have a fair chance of coming off ( ie not impossible like Winky to win by 1st round KO last week for instance ) it's not meant to be taken as gospel is it - though some simple souls seem to see it this way
See it in those terms, and his picks look ok to me - though of course 20/20 hindsight makes anyone a genius.
If you want the bleeding obvious, ask down at the pub.

I take your point. It's always tempting to go for the long shots, but only when there's a reasonable chance of them coming off.
Betting on boxing is only really interesting if you've either got shit loads of cash to bet on a favourite, or there are lots of long shots you want to spread around on. These come off more seldom, but you can get cracking odds on round by round KO's.

I have had a couple of good wins lately - Hopkins to beat Tarver at 3/1, and Taylor & Winky draw at 20/1. Also sent the latter onto a few mates who done well out of it. Always thought it would be a close fight and said in my message that I expected it to be so close that if either guy won it, it would be 7-5 in rounds. I told them the chances of a draw IMO were probably 1 in 4 for that bout so 20/1 was great value. Not sure if I posted this in here anywhere but I may have.

Wish I'd put a tenner on the sodding draw now.

Value for money? where?.....value for money is when you get something in exchange for cash that is considered to be a bargain, I would not class constent losers "value for money"
Winky Wright winning in round 1

come on
as far as asking down the pub the local alky's talk more sense so you could be correct

james you always do this, bemoan that you were 'about to get a bet on' but didn't for whatever reason. I'm telling you now, bet on AJAMU and don't miss out

Sadly I don't have a debit or credit card due to crap bank account and dodgy credit history, and so I am reliant on me remembering to pass a bookmakers to put a bet on. I seldom remember, and thus am always bemoaning.
I think I'll put some cash on an Ajamu win by KO in 6-12.

Yes, yes. If you were a true betting man, you would know the unwritten rules. One of them is never to come out with 'I wish...', especially when you are up on the deal anyway.
Bad form. Enjoy the £42 you are up.

hmm bet365 don't seem to have any odds on offer for the Adjamu fight. Dog's cocks!
