thats amazing! he basically beat all of the best black middleweights of the murders row
holman williams is also vastly underated, probably a top 10 middleweight of all time
of course, one of the most underated fighters of all time is jack blackburn, his legend of being such a great trainer, takes away from the fact he was also a great fighter and one of the greatest lightweights of all time
harold johnson is groselly underated. i get the feeling people fail to watch johnson on film, cause if they did they would realize how good he was. he also beat some great fighters and cleaned out a lot of the heavyweight divisisions best contenders.
heres my rankings
1. Jack Blackburn
2. lee Q Murray
3. lloyd marshall
4. holman williams
5. harold johnson
lee Q murray is horribly unknown and as a result horribly underated. lee q murray was a very good fighter, one of the best heavyweight contenders of the 1940s. he most surely would have got a shot at the title if the title hadnt been frozen during WW II. murray was defintley one of the best highly avoided black contenders of that era
just to save u time from checking out lee q murrays impressive win resume......he beat
jimmy bivins 2x
harry bobo
turkey thompspon
hachetman sheppard 4x
buddy walker 3x
big boy brown
Tiger ted lowry 4x
willie reddish draw
some of these guys were not only highly avoided black fighters, they were also some of the best heavyweight contenders of the 1940s

Hmm not sure if Brockton is using pure "truth in advertising" here for Holman Williams....who was undoubtedly great, but overall I have to say that both Archie and Burley got the best of him in their respective overall series....still he does have wins over both. So if that is the point no harm done.

I'd bet the house that ESPN has footage and fights of Marshall...as well as 1000s of other rare fights and fighters...too bad they won't start some kind of PPV website to download the fights.
