cuts though apparently.

he does lack pop though. you've either got power or u haven't. khan hasn't put any fighter down for the 10 count yet. he has just flurried most opponents out of there and brought about the refs intervention. :box:

will khan just be able to get by on skills alone. :-? top level boxing is an unforgiving world.

Andy Mac - fair point, but, and I hate to say this, the general public significantly outnumbers well-informed boxing fans. In order to make money Kahn needs to appeal to more than just boxing fans, and evidently showing him bowling over people with winning records is the way to do it for now.

I'd like Kahn to have some decent learning fights, but he's 19. He's got time to get fitter and stronger and fit some decent learning fights in. And since he's turned pro he's had some crossover appeal - people who I know who never watch boxing have tuned into Kahn's fights, and ultimately what they want to see is Kahn looking good, even if it's superficial. Yes, I'd love to see him extended and have to dig deep too, but I thinkt there's time for Kahn to do this yet.

This is the most accurate and sensible comment i have read on here since Khan turned pro, very well said!
Its all very well people saying give the kid a chance but he's as good as headlining shows and being sold as the real deal for Christ sake!
All that "speed" is crap!...all the jumping about like an epileptic flea on speed is neither stylish or co-ordinated and looks rank armature, considering the money and interest Khan is generating you would think his trainers would at least have him move like a fighter by now :box:
At least if he slowed down he could put what obviously little power he has into those punches or are his camp so worried about his crystal jaw they are sacrificing any power and concentrating on evasive maneuvers
All you fans out there don't be too shocked when Khan is exposed you have been warned
P.S Slow down his fights and look at his lighter opponents as he catches them flush!
Here endeth the lesson

MBaye beat Khan opponent Laszlo Komjathi last night on a cut. He's a nice boxer, but he can't break an egg.
M'Baye looked a world class fighter the night he lost a good fight to Vivian Harris, he is a very smooth and slick boxer and i think it's criminal the way he is wasting away on the fringes of any title contention. Isn't he WBA No.1 contender?

Good solid sparring for Khan all the same, a spell in America sparring in top quality gyms and fighting tough, schooled Mexican's on big fight undercards would do him the world of good IMO.

You know its awfull to say but I cant help thinking the same - I want to see him do well but when the real test comes will he be up to it - What made me laugh and surprised me was his comment about a world title - How about getting some sort of title the English maybe and go from there - Nothing wrong with ambition but set your sights a little lower to begin with and work your way up - Easy fights can make him think this is the way it is and thats not a good thing - He could get over confident and come a cropper - He does need to be tested very soon now and up against a competetive fighter of even weight he will find its very different and that he cant control the fight as he has up to now - As I have said before what has he been taking from his fights to learn from - Most of us want to see him in with better opposition and then he will learn - David Haye learnt a lot from Carl Thompson and I think David would be the first to agree to that - Its time Frank gave him a tough fight, good for him and good for us - Hes in a very tough hard division and if he is the business then he needs to start proving it.

Frank is going to bring him along steady (very bloody steady) and who can blame him? - In my opinion I don't think Frank has total confidence in the lad and coupled with Franks already steady way of doing things, the result is going to make for slow progress.

The trouble with banding Amir about as the main attraction is that Joe Bloggs will only sup it up for so long (and ITV too I guess) Which makes me wonder if Franks hand is going to be forced a bit quicker than he wants it too.

If you listen to Amir talking about world titles, you'd think the people around him have total confidence about where he is at - Unfortunately fights like last night show exactly where they think he is at.

Next opponent for Khan?

He will be in Bolton September the 2nd, which btw will be "headlined" by M'Baye's WBA title fight with Balbi http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=011432

Let's not forget it is still VERY early days for Khan yet, and at least he is fighting regularly. He is going to be in a lot of shit fights against no hopers at this stage, and that's boring for boxing fans, but for the more casual sports fans, who are the bigger target market, it looks impressive.

He does need to have some tests along the way, against tough strong fighters his own size, but it's a fact there is going to be a lot of padding.

Khan, like Hatton will probably have had around 40 fights before challenging for a genuine world title, if he gets that far. However, Hatton did have testing fights with the likes of Magee and Thaxton along the way.

I like Amir Khan and hope he does well as i do for all British fighters, the reference to Audly Harrison is a comparison of careers and the way not to go, and realy Harrison did better as an amateur than Khan did and he got exposed as a pro and showed that because your are a class Amateur its not always going to work in the pro game.

Fighting boxers a weight below you is fine, picking fighters that have no real puching power is fine, building a record up to make yourself look impresive is fine. being top of the bill on tv while you do this is not!

We know this is what FW does for all his fighters, Joe public does not know this they think Amir Khan is fantastic! FW boxers have good records on paper but always seem to stumble at the last hurdle when it matters!

Whats the chance that he will skip the British Title and European Title and go for a World title The WBU, holding on to this title forever?

People only need to look at the records of ex Amateur Stars that fight under the likes of the Universum banner to see this is why Eastern Europeans will have all the World Championships in the near future. Apart from the WBU which all FW fighters love to have!
