Scratch that comment, hadn't followed Rothmann for a while, he's retired after a string of losses.
Fightnews said he retired I think.

Haye-Mormeck is ideal providing they can't get Bell in the ring. It's the type of fight that we want and need to say Haye in, great fight hope it comes off

Mormeck could prove the biggest test of the two actually. He's got better skills and a better workrate than Bell, he gassed against Bell and then got knocked out, after dishing out some serious punishment. Bell seems to be very very absorbent, and obviously carries his power late, but he's not got fantastic boxing ability to say the least.
Either man will surely force Haye to produce a career best performance to win, unless he is able to blow either man out early, which seems unlikely, he will have to be able to fight against someone bringing the fight to him who is trying to take his head off and prevail.

I agree with you James, I think Mormeck would be a good title defence not a good fight to have building towards a title fight.
Although Rothman has retired, I agree he would have made an excellent opponent (especially as he was also outpointing Bell at the time of the stoppage).
My choice of final warm up fight for Haye would be this guy.

Yes, Dale Brown would be a good opponent, as would guillermo Jones, though Jones is possibly a little too dangerous for a tune up. Surprising how many stoppages he is scoring at cruiserweight, considering he started at 147!

Can see that being a good fight not sure what is in it for brown though unless Molony puts a lot of money down.

He lost last time out, and I cannot see too many champions cueing up to face him. He might see it as a chance of getting back in the mix.

Not sure you would want to go for someone with heavy hands and an impressive KO record if you thought your skills and reflexes were on the slide and not having gone over 6 rounds in a while. Id guess he would have to have given up on his championship carrer and trying to make as much money as he can were he to go for haye now (then it gets to how much dissposible cash frank Maloney has (anyone got any idea?)

Think I read one of Haye's victims, Arthur ( williams?? ) Got a decent win last Sat, which makes the result more impressive - as at the time I recall the bloke looking like an extra from Dawn of the dead.

Yes, Arthur Williams hasn't done all that bad since the Haye defeat, far better than I expected. However, I have had the "pleasure" of seeing most of these fights and he still looks like a shot fighter.
Having said that, although I haven't seen his world championship fights I have seen lots where he was considered a geniune world contender - and he looked like a shot fighter then aswell. What I'm trying to say is that he seems to be a fighter who ALWAYS had slow hands and poor balance, but got the job done.
I think it racks up as Haye's best win and definately his most complete performance.

Haye has the power and the skills to beat anyone in the world but can anyone seriously see him holding off a marauding, relentless in fighter like Mormeck for 12 rounds?? He would have to KO his man early, Haye's stamina and ability to last under pressure still remain under serious doubts and the farcical spar with Abdoul answered few questions.
Haye threw loads of punches and faded against 40 year old Carl Thompson, Mormeck just banged away and pressured Bell continuously but Bell showed great heart and resolve to stay with him and break his heart. Mormeck chased and bashed away at Gurov's body for 8 rounds before the Ukranian folded. As much as i admire Haye's talent i am sceptical regarding his commitment. Mormeck stoppage inside 6 for me i'm afraid.

Haye should think about fighting a guy like Valery Brudov, the guy that Hill beat for that fake WBA regular title. Brudov is big, limited, tough, but can really hit.

Williams was a good fighter in his day. Good enough to clearly beat Adolpho Washington. Williams got KO'd badly by Orlin Norris - the Mormeck of the '90s - but then faced a certain Chris Byrd in Michigan and lost via a hometown decision. He had Byrd looking baffled at times. Decent counter puncher, was Williams. He was 1/2 dead when haye ogt to him though, took the fight on short notice and travelled straight from a loss to England for Haye.
A few yrs ago Williams had a fight with O Neil Bell, and got absolutely spanked. Then in a rematch - when well past his best - he had Bell down & was ahead on pts before getting caught late in the fight & lost.
Haye's best win is clearly Gurov, who was world rated, has a good few EBU title wins and gave Mormeck a very hard fight.

Yes, VM but Haye did to Williams hasn't been done before - not in that fashion.
Gurov was world ranked, but a crush KO blow was always a possibility.

Lets not forget Terry Dunstan knocked Gurov out in seconds years ago.

hmm, but prime Orlin Norris - whom Mormeck is a dead ringer of - did the trick to a prime Washington.
True, Gurov can be caught cold, it happened a couple of times before. But still, Gurov is a puncher himself and Haye did what he had to do vs a world rated foe. Would've been much more beneficial if he hadn't KO'd him early, in a way.

Wouldn't mind seeing him against a light punching HW in a marking time fight that should be the kind of fight to give him rounds. He spends enough time banging on about sparing Danny Williams and I fear it will be a while befor he gets the world shot and he'll have trouble with his weight unless he stays active.

haye needs to look after himself between fights. i get the impresion he enjoys himself a lot, with the cigars, booze, probably eats plenty as well. that way he doesn't need to think about being a heavy
