Really? I'm actually quite suprised by that, you seem to see pretty much every other fight in Europe.

Anyone else got any views on an Erdei-Woods fight?

We dont get that much british action here, although a sports channel have started to show some Warren cards this year.

Woods will make Erdei work more than he has in any other fight before. Erdei is a technically sound fighter, but I don't know how well he will deal with the pressure that Woods will bring. Not that I can actually see the fight ever happening...

Wow, the fight was far more exciting than I anticipated. I expected a boring Erdei poitns decision, and while it was by no means a barnburner, this one did have its moments.

This was a great and well-earned win for Erdei. It certainly beats fights against Sahnoune, Murdoch, and a sliding Lakatus.

Ulrich has seen better days to be sure, and while Adamek knocked him out of the top ten, Erdei has now put him out of the top 15 at 175. Ulrich should start looking for another gig, as I don't think he'll ever regain his pre-Adamek form (especially not after this latest setback and the long layoff that will surely follow  ).

About the fight: As Freiheit said, many of the first six rounds were too close to call. There was only one really clear round out of the first six, and that went to Erdei (round 4 or 5 I think it was).

Zsolt moved well and showed off his technique and defensive skills. Whenever Ulrich started to land his jab Zsolt would circle the other way and shake Ulrich off his trail, and reacquire control of the distance, which he closed effectively. For the most part though, he just took what Ulrich could dish out onto his gloves.

Rounds 8-10 were all Erdei, Ulrich landing the occasional shot here and there but not close enough to winning any rounds.

This was the best I have ever seen Erdei look, bar his "lifetime performance" against Julio Gonzalez.

In round 11 though, Ulrich's persistant, thumping blows throughout the fight, combined with Erdei's less-than-champioship calibre stamina caught up with Zsolt.

Ulrich's coach shouldve light that fire under Ulrich's rear a round or two earlier, but whatever he said, worked. Thomas won 11 on my card with some great aggression that he seemed to have been lacking since I saw him against Adamek (he had zero vs Saenz).

In round twelve he staggered Erdei and almost KOed him. Zsolt hung on though and took home a well deserved UD. I had it 8-4 for Erdei.

Erdei needs more of these fights and less garbage defenses. In fact, if he hopes to some day be mentioned in Canastota--as Im sure his Hungarian followers are hoping--he needs to start fighting the top 5 fighters in his division, meaning Johnson, Adamek, Woods, etc, and trying to claim that #1 spot at 175.

There! If attis still thinks Im an Erdei 'hatter' after that post, than theres nothing else I can do. :)

Well,8-4 to Zsolt is a bit off,I think.Other than that I agree with you. :TU:

Zsolt was in a better-than-ever shape, and condition.I'm anxious to see who he fights next.Tune-up fight(s) aside.

Sir, if you ever frequented the Current scene and avidly followed the Stacy Goodson soap opera, you would know that "hatter" is in fact the correct spelling of the term

We're kidding, its spelled hater of course...unless your from Arkansas.

I could see it scored differently too, there were a few early rounds that werre very close...but Erdei clearly won, even though he was hurt in the 12th. I hope he keeps fighting guys that can challenge him like Ulrich did, no more Paul Murdochs please. Why can't we get Erdei-Woods or Erdei-Adamek? Zsolt should be screaming for these fights. :x

Just watched this fight, i had it 118-112 to Erdei but i still feel like i gave Ulrich the benefit in a few rounds (2 rounds and 2 even) as Thomas showed good aggression and consistently marched forward but Erdei's jab and defence were the key. Flip me he couldn't miss with that left jab could he? Everytime it snapped Ulrich's head back and when Thomas attempted to throw back Erdei took everything on his arms and gloves. This was a perfect Boxing display by the Hungarian and back to when he schooled Gonzalez, hit and not be hit.

I think Erdei on this form would be a match for any of the other top Light Heavies, it would be interesting to see him in with Woods but i would back Erdei on points. A fight with Adamek would be interesting but Adamek is so rough and ready and carries a whack so i would favour the pole. We really need some unifications in this division.

P.S. Ulrich's face was a state at the end and in the post fight studio interview he looked a sorry sight.

Ulrich looked like a piece of raw bacon. Those clean jabs from Erdei really marked him up. I was impressed by Erdei, as that was a consummate display.

Obviously the German public aren't warming too well to Zsolt. He barely beat Garay twice and that didn't help. He's not German and it seems that there is a desperate need for more German world champs - hence why the comebacks of Henry Maske & Schultz will be big money. and of course this is why Ulrich even got a shot. TV figures - as Freiheit says - aren't great at the moment.

Zsolt has all the ability in the world. He needs to fight the type of men who can beat up Ulrich. i.e. Glen Johnson and Adamek. Needs to be in a legit 50-50 fight.

Yes, Erdei was in excellent shape!!! Indeed a perfect perfomance, hit awfully precisely and defended with ease.

Afterwards he said that he gave 50% of what he could, especially referring to his right hand.

IMO, such performance wuold be enough against Woods. Adamek had only 2 fights with top contenders and although everyone says that he is dangerous, IMO he should still prove his skills and power. Still, I also consider him as a dangerous opponent for Erdei.

I really hope that Erdei will be given a chance to prove hios skills against the top US based fighters or Tiozzo.

Erdei is impressing in a quiet sort of way. It was indeed a clinic against Ulrich. Skill-wise, he is above Adamek. But Adamek is tougher & hits way harder. He has a solid resume now, Erdei, what with wins over Gonzalez, Sahnoune, Garay (twice), & Ulrich. Time to take on the fellow elite now. Tiozzo would be a nice place to start. I would've given Fabrice 1/2 a chance last year, but not now.

He's good to watch. So relaxed in the ring.
