why not??

isnt tony zale in ur top 10? the same zale who never fought black fighters despite there being an incredible list of great colored 160lbers out there. the same zale whos best wins are over rocky graziano and georgie abrams?

marshall beat much better competition than tony zale.....

lloyd marshall beat middleweights

ezzard charles
charley burley
jake lamotta
holman williams
jack chase
lou broullaird
teddy yarosz
ken overlin
eddie babe risko
shorty hogue
bandit romero

ENOUGH SAID!!
he was also beaten by the same romero
yarosz
hogue
chase
williams
add booker and ceferino garcia and i don't think you have a top 10 middle.what makes marshall any better than the likes of chase and booker?

i often wonder if marshall was on cuffs when he fought garcia, theres a good chance.

chase went 0-4 vs burley and 0-3 vs H williams

lloyd marshall went 1-0 vs burley and 1-2 vs H williams plus charley burley called marshall the greatest fighter he ever fought. marshall also beat better fighters than chase did overall. chase never beat a prime jake lamotta or prime charley burley, two top 10 middleweights of all time who marshall beat. marshall also beat two top 15 middleweights of all time H williams and KO over ATG ezzard charles. marshall clearly has the much better resume than chase. on film, i also think marshall looks great. no film of chase too bad, but marshall is usually though more highly of than chase.

as for booker, he defintley rates up there and u can make a case for him and marshall being the same. but then again, marshall holds wins over charley burley, jake lamotta, ezzard charles, these are better than any wins booker has. marshall is the more proven middleweight than booker. booker had to retire due to a detached retina, its sad cause his career defintley wasnt over yet.

Decagon wrote:As I asked on another topic, why does Moore's over-the-limit win over Marshall count towards his middleweight ranking, while Marshall's over-the-limit wins over Charles, Williams, Chase, Hogue, Romero and LaMotta count towards his middleweight ranking?

i changed my mind since u brought that other point to my attention. i will count archies win over marshalls as a middleweight win since he was 162lb and close to the limit.

alot of the black murders row like moore and marshall came in at 162 or 163lb for there middleweight fights. so should we count these as middleweight wins?

If Archie Moore had access to Arturo Gatti's method of approaching death via dehydration, and then receiving intravenious fluids, and getting surgery to remove scar tissue to keep him from bleeding, he could've made 160 until the mid 1950s.

i dont know about the mid 1950s. moore was a huge light-h in the early-mid 1950s. he was cutting from well over 200lb to fight bobo olsen and harold johnson. i dont think he could have made 160lb. he had a huge build.

perhaps he could have made 160lb until the late 1940s, but after that no way

i think some of it is exagerated.

moore struggled incredible just to make 175lb in the early-mid 1950s. he had a very big build.

could u see rocky marciano ever making 168lb?
