My point is they shouldn't have paid for it in the first place, and used their cash to buy better fights. What package is this anyway? I got the impression they bought on a fight by fight basis, hence the late notice for many of the big fights.

The boxing season ended in Britain, so it's just a nice bonus to still get some fights from other parts of the world.

Oh dear.
Evander looked 'good'. This is a disaster for anyone hoping he will retire soon.

Although have a frame showing signs of ageing, he was able to show surprisingly good work for a full 2 rounds, fighting somone his size but not in his class (or even the next class down).

I suspect he can only work like this for a max of 4 rounds.
Unlike Jim Watt, i wouldn't say "He's Back".

Talk of him going straight into a bout with Sinan Samil Sam seems to be over-ambitious at this stage; Evander won't blow Sam away like he did Bates, and Sam could turn it into a tiring, mauling, physical fight that might favour his own strengths.

If Evander is going to continue he should take a few more tune ups first, as long as he blows the opposition away in style, I don't think anybody will really mind him facing overmatched guys like Bates.

I have to admit though, Holyfield did look pretty useful.

The problem with ESPN is that, although it has some great content if you're lucky enough to catch it by accident, it's absolutely bobbins at advertsing what's coming up. I would have loved to have seen the Bob Foster thing, but didn't know about it, and although it'll probably be on again in the next week or so, I'll inevitably miss it again!

Well to be honest I wasn't as quite impressed with Holyfield as some of the SKY team were.

Sure for a guy his age he has an amazing physique but he was not "cut to perfection" as the SKY team claimed I thought he looked 'soft' by Holyfields standards anyway. His footwork is now where near what it once was and he has lost some handspeed. All of which is of no suprise for a guy of Holyfields age etc.

Sure he looked good against a game semi-retired journeyman who would probably lost against the 1984 version of Lionel Byarm.

Holifeild looked reasonable, but he was fighting the equivilent of a walking punch bag, so it would have been more of a sorprise if he had struggled even at this stage of his career. He looked like he was just pushing out his punches mostly, they lacked real snap despite the 'effect' they had on the 'opposition'. Also Evanders footwork was very hercky jerky... with little natural bounce... but most worrying was that everytime he was hit Holifield looked uncomfortable, especially in the 2nd. If Holifield fights Sam he'll be knocked out in about 5 to 7 rounds.... he's just a shell...

Persoanally I think it is outrageous that SKY have not been showing the latest heavyweight title fights, yet see fit to spend money on the Holifield sparring session.... it seems that just because the latest 'champions' arent from America they are not worth watching in SKYS eyes...

Well, Holyfield's was on Fox Sports so might have been cheaper.

Anyway, I was quite pleased with the show - they did focus alot on the heavyweights and mentioned them all. So maybe they will show them in future. Also, Lyakhovich vs Brewester did seem like a forgone conclusion at the time of the fight - cause Brewster was in exceptional form. No excuses re Maskaev vs Rahman, Toney vs Rahman, and Valuev vs Ruiz.

Mind you they did hype up the likes of Byrd vs Golota, Ruiz vs Oquendo in a series of shows and not showcase one of them.

At the risk of possibly stating the obvious here, do you know that you can use your Sky remote to bring up an on-screen list of all boxing programming coming up over the next 24 hours ? Use the yellow button to bring up the A-Z menu, then select no.5 for sports, scroll along once with the > button, then select "boxing" with the red button; its a good way of bringing up all the ESPN classic shows.

I was pleased to see Williams, the guys a monster at WW. 6'1, 82 inch reach, quickish, 100punches a round - how would PBF deal with him despite his defensive frailties????

Holyfields, handspeed and punch quality has detoriated so much. He just doesnt have the balance to throw quality shots anymore.
