You knew who the contenders were. When you watched the Friday night fights, did you not tune in because their was no title on the line? You sure did. Why? The entertainment value of course, but you wanted to see the contenders battle their way up the ladder. Their was no paper title being contested. It comes down to credibility. If you don't have that, what do you have. It should mean something to be champ. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
I'm actually looking forward to Cazares's rematch with Nelson Dieppa. The 108 to 115 divisions are actually very solid, and I think a lot of the fighters would be lost in the mix if there weren't more titles to be held. With a division like heavyweight, we want to know who the champion is, but I actually like the smallest divisions having more titles. Those kids don't get much attention, and a few titles help you know who's who.
You're joking mate, the reason no one can name most of the champions today at any weight is because of there being so many titles... for you to think otherwise shows that you probably cant remember the old days when even the lighter weight champions were household names... to say that so many titles help fighters gain recognition is just delusional, theres so many 'champions' today, noone gives a feck who they are anymore, especially below 135...

Not fair... Not many people saw him, but they sure as heck knew who he was. He was the Bantamweight champion of the world. Now, without looking it up, who is, sorry, are the Bantamweight champions of the world
all 4 or 5 of them.
