Woods deserves 50-50 if Calzaghe is challenging for his belt.
Neither Woods or Johnson would last the distance with the pace Calzaghe sets. I don't see how they can market a Calzaghe v Johnson fight as some kind of superfight now. Woods v Calzaghe is a good domestic scrap but lets not kid ourselves that Woods is anything like the number 1 light heavyweight. A good fighter but he has benefitted from the lack of depth at 175. Now there are plenty of emerging talents. I don't think he'd beat Briggs, Adamek or Dawson. Erdei perhaps.
So Where Will Calzaghe Fit Into This
Woods is a top five light heavy. That's no terrible thing as he is in a tough weight class. You would think Calzaghe's speed would be a major advantage vs anyone at that weight. NONE of the light heavies are particularly fast, though they all have some fine qualities. I think his biggest problem might be the finesse and acuracy of Erdei.
Warren says Calzaghe still might be interested in fighting Johnson. That being one of several options. Probably saying that to let Clinton know there are other fights he can go for if CW will ask for too much.

Calzaghe would be too fast, but Woods brings plenty to that fight. Though he struggled with Johnson, he got the win, and that will have done something for him. I mean, if beating Hoye and having a title raised Clinton, then beating his nemesis with a torn elbow, on a hostile promotion will also have lifted Woods. I can see him improving and his size and outside skills will make it hard for JC.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Clinton is basically physically a bigger version of calzaghe. personally, I think it would be a great fight. Much better fight than Calzaghe-Johnson.
