It's not defintive knowledge, just my opinion. Isn't expressing one's opinion on matters of boxing the whole point of posting?

I do KNOW the only reason you're questioning my opinion (that Beyer is pretty much shot) is so that when Kessler beats him you can pretend it means more than it actually does. I'm afraid that even if Kessler KO's Beyer in 1 round it's still less significant that Calzaghe's shut-out of Lacy... like it or not. :TU:
Let's add for clarification: your last sentence was an opinion, too
(a habitually absurd one, as would go without saying).

As for the subject, Beyer didn't show any sign of "being shot" in his previous fights -- while Lacy showed plentiful signs of being a one-dimensional slugger with poor defense in his pre-Calzaghe fights.
How the hell could anyone definitively tell Beyer was shot against the likes of Sheika (possibly the most shot SM on the planet) and Alberto 'who the fornicate is he?' Colajanni? Going 50/50 over 4 rounds with Bika didn't exactly set the world alight either. Beyer has CLEARLY been ducking anyone approaching top 10 status for 18 months... he's done and he knows it. If Kessler wins the result will be no more impressive than Calzaghe beating Eubank (who was better and far less over the hill than Beyer).

Btw, I don't think you are in a position to be lecturing anyone on 'absurd opinions'...

During the last 18 months he has two of the better performances of his entire carreer - Green II and Sheika.

He sucked in some fights vs nobodies? LOL.. he has done that his entire carreer. Nothing new in that.

The Green win looks better now. Green loosed reborn in his last fight. The Green Machine is a threat to ANYONE at 175-pounds. He's had a pancreas problem all sorted out.

Until I see Bika, I'm not sure what to think about him.

Not bad for keeping active though.

You people were favouring Lacy even though Joe fought better names.
But Lacy had actually beaten decent fighters. Look at Bika's record he has been fighting absolute no marks other than Soliman which he lost and Beyer which proved nothing. And he's a middleweight.
Bika's more skilled than Lacy & every bit the monster specimen at the same time. Though Bika is very thin framed for a super middle.

Cool, now all he has to do is start throwing punches at something other than glacier-like speed and he will be grand...Green will always be undone by speed and movement...

maybe, but now he's at light heavyweight, he is actually faster than most. by moving up, he carries with him a similar kind of advantage that James Toney did (Green & Toney being 2 totally different foes) when he moved up to cruiser.

Green has a lot of ability, he is troubled by movement and speed, but withhis medical problems sorted and in a new division, I feel he has a fresh outlook and can do good things.

Insofar as the talent pool is a lot more shallow at LHW, I guess you are right...Woods or Briggs versus Green would be fun to watch although I suspect Briggs would be too strong for him...

Unless my maths skills are on the wane Beyer fought Green at the start of March '05... this being the end of Sptember 2006 makes it over 18 months ago.
Green is/was a brawler with over-rated power and not a great skill set. Beyer fought a smart fight SECOND time around.
Sheika has been beaten by every SM of note there is... if beating him rates as 'one of the better performances of his entire career' that really doesn't say much for Beyer's career.
Beyer has fed on hasbeens and nobodies for a year and a half waiting for a payday.

Green was shit hot at the time of the first Beyer fight - everything that ppl desperately wanted Lacy to be. Very solid, hurtful, aggressive and dangerous. Turns out he's had a well publicised medical problem. There's an article worth looking up. Definitely looked reborn at light heavy.

I'll pick Green to win a light heavy title.

Light heavy is a good division. Briggs, Adamek, Erdei, Woods, Johnson, Dawson are all quality.

Hopefully the Briggs-Adamek II winner will be impressive enough to step up to the top of the division.

Perhaps we have to agree to disagree because I don't agree...

Fact: Beyer has fed on "hasbeens and nobodies" his entire carreer... the last 15 months is no worse and no better than the rest of his carreer. So no you cannot conclude anything there.

Secondly, you stressed this "Beyer fought a smart fight SECOND time around." Well, yes - and that is exactly why you cannot claim he suddenly has become worse when you even stress that he did a better job in this fight which is in the last two years, than he did earlier in his carreer.

I see no evidence to suggest that Beyer is on the slide.

Now RJJ , holyfield, Tyson cetainly are because their current performances over several years are very inferior from what they used to do. Whereas Beyer is performing like he always does. which is looks shitty against mediocre opponents.. and you could even say he got better in the Green rematch than he was earlier in his carreer when he met Green. Now had he been clearly winning the first fight with Green and then sucked in the second then you had some kind of evidence. He didn't. Fact is he did markedly better. You may want to believe that he is on the slide but I see no evidence.
