I can't see why Mundine feels the need to drop down to Middleweight, he always looks in good physical shape at SM and i would have thought it was his natural weight class. On his day Mundine i believe is world class, he has the power and speed and raw ability, you can't argue with his achievements at the highest level for a guy in the game for such a short time.

However that said the fella is an arsehole and the Aussies didn't take kindly to his antics after the fight before Green when he was bottled out of the ring and then there were those 9/11 comments...but that's another story. Mundine will forever have question marks over his chin, KO'd badly by Ottke after coasting the fight, dropped by journeyman Nishizawa and then Siaca, it's not a good statistic to have on his resume. Neither Echols or Kessler had him even wobbled on the other hand. I forgot what the point of all this was but i think Mundine should stick at 168 anyway but i don't know the ins and outs behind the decision.

Frightening to think what Sven Ottke would've done to RJJ in the ring.

You cant even compare Jones Jr and Mundine. Jones Jr is arguably one of the most gifted fighters/athletes of alltime Mundine doesn't even come close. A prime RJJ could have beaten Siaca hopping on one leg with one arm tied behind his back.
You're missing the point. Jones had 100s of amateur fights and was brought along as a pro at the right pace. Mundine spent most of his sporting life in rugby, before undergoing a Curtis Woodhouse style career change! If Mundine didn't have awesome raw talent, he wouldn't have won a world title, let alone dominated Danny Green & Antwun Echols.

So the difference I point out is actually a big difference. The big difference being the vast difference in boxing experience between Jones and Mundine. Talent and experience are 2 different things.

So your attempts at humour are very desperate. Neither of you atually noticed the DISTINCTION, which is worying...Maybe I should be laughing

Yes, but the key point is that this is one of those 'What if' scenarios. Maybe with 200 amateur fights Mundine would be RJJ version 2.0, but then again maybe he wouldn't. Personally I'd go with wouldn't.

Exactly, how the hell can you prove how much of a persons talents in nature and how much in nurture? All we can say for sure is that Jones Jnr was a far better fighter than Mundine. Mundine seems to be getting quite overrated now as a way of hyping Kessler.

Yes, but Mundine was able to be successful in boxing because of his speed, athleticism, etc. He tries a lot of the same unorthodox moves as Jones does. But Jones had an illustrious amateur career etc etc. Some of you ppl are scrapping over fvcking pennies

Jones is a different level to RJJ but presents his opponents some of the same problems. And when you fighting BHOPs who may give away the first 7rounds he could pull off a UD.

That aside Mundine-Taylor would be an interesting fight and would sell well

You take the comparison too literally. I merely make a COMPARISON about the TALENT level (raw talent), and In get backlash as if I'd said that Mundine should be ranked among the boxing immortals!

If ppl are going to be so fussy, they should go through an English comprehension course.

If I compared the shape of Mickey Mouse's and Godzilla's dicks, the response would be "WTF are you talking about, Godzilla's is bigger"

Frightening to think what Sven Ottke would've done to RJJ in the ring.
Name another fighter that would give Ottke fits for 10 rounds in his 11th fight, Mundine didn't even take sparring partners over there. He is a totally diffrent fighter in his last few fights since RJSnr has taken over the bulk of his training.

What has this question got to do with anything? Mundine could've given fits/outboxed Ottke for 12 rounds and would've still lost on all three score-cards whether it be his 11th or 111th fight. Clearly Mundine, despite his trainer, isn't good enough to beat the best at 168 (Danny Green is a long way short of the best). Having said that Mundine would probably beat Beyer, but then again so would Andrade, Bute, Froch, Lacy, etc. The rather narrow view that because Mundine solidly lost to Kessler and beat Danny Green he's all of a sudden a force at Supermiddle is ridiculous.

If anyone wants to know how good Danny Green can be, look how he was thrashing Markus Beyer in their 1st fight.

As to Mundine, sure he got stopped by Ottke, but who elsehas been able to outbox a prime Ottke? Ottke's a master boxer & the inexperienced Mundine was brilliant until the last round or two.

Nardiello, Gatti, there are a coulpe of others. Ottke-Gatti was one of the most brutal KOs I've ever seen.

How long was Gatti out for? Mundine was unconcious for about 5 minutes wasn't he?

Ottke HAD to score a stoppage, and he lined up the punch brilliantly as Mundine was coming in, effectively doubling the impact of a perfect temple shot.

It was the only time Ottke had to knock his man out (later fights where he got lucky notwithstanding), and he was able to do make the adjustment.

Sorry guys I'm with nickd on this one, I think Hopkins would deal with any version of Mundine in brutal fashion, KO 8 at LHW and KO 10 at SMW, after building up a big lead in the middle rounds.
