I tend to think Harrison didn't win that medal by accedent and I think a skilled fighter will generaly prevail over a bullish one if he fights the right fight, key to the williams loss was harrison fighting the wrong fight.

Harrison won gold but the competition was pretty average in 2000.

Harrison may well have more technical ability Boxing wise that Matt Skelton but if he doesn't have the heart, desire and workrate to put that ability into practice then it means very little.

I just can't see Harrison having the 'fire' and workrate to keep Skelton off him for twelve rounds.

There are many Olympic champions who have amounted to very little in the pro ranks & Harrison is another one of them .

Amateur boxing is a whole different ball game.

I tend to agree with the posters who ask what has Audley got in his armoury to discourage Skelton?

Well, Skelton-Harrison seems to be official. Warren states in todays 'Frankly Speaking' that it's the worst kept secret in boxing, and will be announced tomorrow.

Harrison can count himself lucky to get the shot, but unlucky insomuch as Skelton will hammer him. I really don't know how Audley can win. His mythical boxing skills will count for fvck all when Skelton leaps all over him. Harrison prospered under amateur rules, with its daft points-scoring mentality, but I just don't think he has the heart for a real fight. Skelton, for all his faults, is not afraid of a tear-up.

Skelton KO 5, after Audley falls to pieces under the head-butting, elbows and mauling.

If I Was Skelton I wouldnt take the fight - Why should he, Skelton wanted to fight Harrison about 10 fights ago but Harrison wasnt interested and went off to America to beat up nobodys claiming Skelton and Williams were no match for him - Why should Skelton give Harrison a way back into British boxing he doesnt deserve it - On the other hand you could argue let it happen and that way Harrisons career would definately be over - Big Matt wouldnt be out for a points win that wouldnt be good for his own career - I think he would want a stoppage or KO by rnd 6 to look good for Valuev or whoever - I would prefer to see Matt sidestep a fight with Harrison saying "he had his chance and didnt take it"

Skelton isnt a classy fighter by far but he is improving - For me he fought exactly right in his last clash with Williams - Big workrate, great movement, he couldnt be faulted - He is our best fighter and I do believe he has it in him to win a world title - The HW division isnt that brilliant so I definately think he has a chance - With a similar strategy as in the Williams fight he could outpoint Valuev who is slow and get the belt - I really dont want to see him fight the man from Harlesden

I think this is a case of styles making fights if someone forces harrison to work then he is more likely to look better however if they sit back so does he. Furthermore he has the hight to win the rounds popping a jab and considerable skills on thie inside if skelton wants to stand toe to toe, however he is chinny and skelton can wack will be a better fight than people think.

Michael Bentt was a great amateur.

Teofilo Stephenson too; who knows how good he would've been as a pro?
Amir Khan was a decent amateur.

I do still rate Harrison as a fringe domestic contender though; in theory only.
He's a rhythm fighter, relying on his opponent's movement to succeed.
Eubank was the same y'know; albeit with much finer skills.

Many said Eubank was lazy, while Benn always showed desire.
I'd agree with that on the grounds of appearance, but we know the records tell an interesting story.

Ali's greatest strength was his mastery of timing.
A modicum of that ability is enough to beat Skelton.

It's so sad when a spineless conman like Harrison is given chance after chance, yet he has never done anything to suggest that he is up to much.

He needs to earn his chance by going back to basics & proving his critics (like me) wrong.
