Technically no, what he actually did was change his mind, ask for more money and then insist the fight went to purse bids so he (as champion) got the bigger share of the money despite the fact he couldn't draw flies with shit stuck to his forehead.

He was asked how much money he wanted to make the fight and said $750k - which is what he was offered. He then got all paranoid that Ricky was gonna get more (despite the fact his purse hadn't been negotiated) and asked for more.

It's also no secret that Manny Steward wasn't keen on the fight as he's a big fan of Ricky's.

He's not been avoided IMO, he was in the mix and then got KO'd by Maussa - i'd have thought it's only normal he has to re-establish his reputation after that.

Well Cotto, Hatton and Mayweather all removed themselves from Harris's mandotary position most likely as they saw him as a potential dangerous bannana skin. So that makes him avoided - his negotiating didn't help.

I think Harris woul dhave gone through on the terms arranged, but Steward joined the ship at just the right time.

Did I ever tell you about the time I had Kathy Duva and Manny Steward on the phone around the time Harris had agreed to fight Hatton, and hung up without ever asking Manny a question?

I set up the call, to try and clear up the rumoured problems, but had somehow missed the announcement the day before I rang Kathy that Manny Steward had been appointed Harris' manager/trainer.

So Kathy said, I have Manny here with me too, and I said "Oh, right.....so...Kathy...."

Plum.

According to BN today this is slated for a spot on the Hatton undercard.

Makes sense. And Vicious Viv has the punch to upset the apple cart here as well.
