Maybe Lacy and Andrade are very good fighters who are just going to look poor vs the likes of Calzaghe and Kessler. I don't know. I've only seen one round of Andrade, but I was impressed. Maybe if I saw the Otis Grant fight I wouldn't like the man.

Personally, I never could stand Lacy and always used to laugh at my US colleagues who said he was the top super middle. I always used to reply with "No, he's garbage!" Until the Reid and the Pemberton fights, where he showed nice variety and body punching.

But I don't have that in built prejudice against Andrade. He did some subtle little things against the other Grant, Richard. & he does pack a real punch.

No but the fact you said that "Plus it wasn't so long since he's fought his last mandatory even if it was Veit." is completely irrelevant to any IBF mandatory

Not that I want to side with the WBC on this but.... the last WBC mandatory defense was Beyer-Green II back in march of 2005.

This mandatory defense has been on hold for too long.

Andrade accepted to step aside for the Kessler-Beyer fight but now it's time for him to get his shot.

Beside, Kessler-Andrade on HBO in Febuary/March could help make Calzaghe-Kessler in june 2007.

We all know that HBO like building stars. Probably makes sense for them to maybe showcase Calzaghe up at light heavy vs someone like Johnson. & have Kessler defending against Andrade, which is a solid matchup that they would doubtless approve.

This situation, with Calzaghe owing two mandatories and with HBO NO WAY IN HELL EVER approving them...makes me wonder. I see Joe dropping a title or maybe just moving up. If the HBO money is right.

Tatevosyan stopped Calzaghe's mandatory (or maybe just #1) Markussen on the 14th Oct.

Did Markussen fight an eliminator before that though?

Don't know. The last mandatory was Mario Veit, because he held the interim crown. Markussen was probably next in line. He's not had any significant wins of recent

Ain't seen no eliminators on his record so Veit must of been the only mandatory for ages.
