I find this weird, Hatton shouldn't be barely having any wear and tear yet. He's only had about two wars!

Castillo hasn't done shit for a while so it depends how well he does in his next fight, otherwise not a good fight to take.

Credit to Floyd for fighting Baldomir though. :TU:

If Gatti had won, then Hatton would of more likely of fought Gatti since Floyd gave Gatti a one sided beating.
You missed that fight last year apparently....the one that got fight of the year and round of the year...

Yeah I missed Castillo and Corrales 1 and 2.

But still Castillo has had contriversy ever since and hasn't fought since February so he might be past it.

It would probably increase Hatton's bank accounrt though.

Recent quotes from Floyd on a possible fight with Hatton:

Seconds Out article: Mayweather Hatton fight will never happen!
At this point the name Ricky Hatton was brought up. Floyd wasn't impressed.
"Ricky Hatton don't want to fight me. If he did why is he going back down to 140? Why also did he ask for $13 million, when his previous best purse was only $3million? Ricky should stay back in England fighting wrestlers that are hand-picked. As long as he does that he'll stay undefeated."
When asked if he didn't respect any of Hatton's wins, Floyd responded in the negative.
"Hatton's a wrestler, even when he fought Kostya Tszyu it was a wrestling match. Why does he want to fight me for $13 million when he struggled with a journeyman last time out? And why should I go to England? This is America, I'm the champ, if he wants the fight he has to come here but Ricky Hatton doesn't want to fight me."

And from a recent Boxing Scene interview:
"They're going to protect him. Business-wise, if he's my fighter, I pick and choose, and milk him, get as much money as I can, until he's all used up. Until somebody lucks up and beats him. He's not a superstar."

Looks like Floyd really could not give a fcuk about Hatton! I'm actually glad to hear him come out with these statements, it might stop Hatton and his team using his name to promote themselves, but then, thats unlike'ly! [/quote][/b]

Would that be in the same way that PBF uses Oscar's name to garner publicity? The same Oscar by the way that makes the p4p #1 wait till he decides whether or not he can be bothered to fight a man that brings nothing to the table financially, that he cant get anyway.

Totally different scenario Andy, why, because Floyd wants to fight Oscar, end off.

Hatton uses Mayweather's name, but is unwilling to fight him (at least in my opinion!). He never liked Witter using his name for self promotion.......... pot, kettle, black!

Hatton should shut up or put up! The carrots been dangled for to long, its time he gave the fans what they deserve!

Hatton wants Mayweather, bollocks we all know that he don't even want Witter,If Witter said he wants Mayweather I would believe it.

Mayweather was right about the wrestling has well , he got away with it because it was England he'll have no such luck in a fight in the states hence the stupid 13 million .

Facts are facts while the idiots shell out to see him in mismatches he'll carry on doing it, and when they stop he will retire.

It does seem the Hatton's are milking these nothing fights for all they are worth. Let's hope its Castillo next, if not I'm afraid the doubters are correct.

Hatton wants Mayweather, make no mistake about that. He is trying to build his name in the US so that he can use this as a bargaining tool when the fight happens. Mayweather showed his ignorance when he admited he had NOT even seen the WRESTLING match that his motormouth spewed about, but had instead been told about it by his ass licking staff.
As for Hatton fighting Mayweather in the US, why would he? When american judges and referees are notoriously crooked, witness Lennox Lewis / Holyfield 1
As for Mayweather WANTING to fight Oscar,,,,of course he does. 1 fight in almost 4 years, 35 years of age, that would sound about right for the pretty things LEGACY. Far less threatening than say Margarito.
If you really think that someone that cant draw flies, but wants to cling on to his US boxing writers mythological p4p rating to demand that Hatton goes begging cap in hand to get a fight, where all the odds will be manipulated against him, you are niave to say the least. Hatton does not NEED Mayweather, despite what every American poster might tell you.
The 13 million demand was for a fight in the US, probably knowing that it would not be taken seriously. With the state of the dollar that is not a great amount anyway. However i have no doubt Hatton would ask a lot less if the fight were in Manchester. The chances of that happening though are less than nil, as Mayweather would never risk fighting outside the US, in case he got a referee that didn't want to stand back and admire his dancing, but instead let the 2 fighters do what their titles intended for them to do, namely FIGHT.

In fairness to mayweather, his recent fights have seen him sitting down on his shots a lot more, he handed Gatti and Judah fair old arse whippings, and his fight with Corley was surprising as it was one of the first times we had seen Mayweather stand and trade with an opponent.

As he's moved up in weight Mayweather seems more prepared

If reports are to be believed then Hatton received around 3 million sterling, not dollars for his fight with Collazo and against Maussa, so that's 6 million US dollars, so a fight with Mayweather would possibly net somewhere not too far from the 13 million he asked for, but not right now.

I think Mayweather is just jive-talking, he knows that the fight with Hatton isn't on the agenda just yet, and he is too busy begging Oscar to fight him.

A fight with Oscar would represent the biggest payday Mayweather is likely to ever receive, but Oscar as said earlier can earn a fortune for what will probably be his last fight, pretty much whoever he fights. Oscar is the Ray Leonard of his era, he can pick and choose who, when and where he wants to fight, dictate terms, and walk away with the lion share of a whopping purse every time.

Mayweather will have virtually zero clout when it comes to negotiating with Oscar, who can happily tell him to go screw himself if he gets uppity, which he certainly will.

Hatton needs to have some good action packed fights which are shown stateside, and ideally staged there if he wants to make a fight with Mayweather, because he knows that Floyd has a very highly developed sense of his value as a commodity, some would say inflated.

Oscar fought 6times in 4years against the elite P4P and ko'd Mayorga easily last time whos in fact better than anyone Margaritos ever faced. You make it sound like Oscar would be an easy fight, its probably the second toughest after Mosley.

$5.5 US dollars and Hatton took around 80% of the purse. For a 50-50 split of $13m each ($26m) the fight would need to sell around 1million buys - I'm not sure its the big a fight. 600k-700k maybe. There will probably be a $2-3m site fee, which fighting in Las Vegas offers. A realistic figure for each would probably be $10m each

I think I should reiterate that contary to popular belief Mayweather is now a bigger draw than Hatton - he sells more PPVS - 375k against Judah 350k against Judah. How many PPVs has Hatton sold - not too many hes just used to keeping 70%+ of the pie and making his promoters go bankrupt.

Hatton does not NEED Mayweather, despite what every American poster might tell you.

So hes trying to make a fight with Mayweather by fighting Maussa, Collazo and Urango - tell me exactly how well those massive names have improved

No Hatton does not need Mayweather to make £3m a fight when he picks up 80%+ of the purse (although that gravy train will be over at the end of the 3 fight Hobson deal). But Hatton needs to fight some top fighters if he wants a legacy.

I think Ricky Hatton is a very good fighter who may be competitive with Mayweather but hes not that type that wants none-easy fights. Which given its his head that would suffer the brain damage you can't be too pissed off about. However pretending Ricky wants to fight the elite is a fantasy world.

Strange how Floyd see's himself as the champ.
He is'nt the recognised champ at 147(not yet anyway)and was never the recognised champ at 140.So thats a load of bollox to start with.
Which leads me to beleive the man could be capable of speaking bollox on other subjects(like Hatton is scared of me etc..)
There is a link on another thread in the current scene which shows an interview that PBF had prior to the Gatti fight.
It's pretty funny.Shows how much rubbish he comes out with, and that he is'nt the sharpest tool in the box.

I hope Hatton wants PBF.
I have been a little peeved at Hattons choice of opponent since Tszyu.
If he beats Urango, then it has to be Castillo(or someone on that level)
If not, then the Hatton hater's just may have a point.

I think that's a bit of a ridiculous comparison to make. Ricky hasn't even been a PPV fighter in the US yet. He supposedly shifted around 150 ppv buys for the KT fight which is not too shabby for an island that is what - an eighth the size of the US if that?

Another quote from Seconds Out when they interviewed Floyd after his final training session yesterday:

"When you interview me, don't even bring Ricky Hattons name up", he snapped. "Ricky Hatton do not want to fight me, I'm-a let you know that out the gate."

I'm glad Floyd's taking that stance....... Hatton should put up or shut up!

My mistake, since May 2004 Oscar has had 2 fights, and will not have any until May 2007 which is when the proposed fight between him and PBF supposedly happens. Mayweather is having his 6th fight tonight in the same period of time, with perhaps another one in February. That is quite a difference.

Mayweather is only a bigger draw than Hatton in the US. Unfortunately most Americans actually BELIEVE that the world starts in New York and ends in Los Angeles, as evidenced by 75% of them not even owning passports.

You mean like Tyszu had 2 fights in 3 years prior to fighting Hatton?

I'll reiterate that theres probably only 2 opponents 154 and below that may be harder than Oscar and those are Dzinderuk and Mosley. Remember Oscar will also have a 15lb + weight advantage come fight night over Floyd and hes never been comprehesively beat below 160 despite facing the top P4P fighters.

Combined with his slickness Collazo also had a lot of strength, Mayweather doesn't. The way people talk about Hatton having no chance against Mayweather makes me laugh. They must really think that the only way to fight is the Mayweather way, that there was never a fighter before him, and there wont be any when he retires. Hatton will go out and FIGHT Mayweather if they meet. He will try to do to him exactly what Lloyd did to Curry 20 years ago, f,uckin beat him up. No niceties, no prancing and posing just have a f,uckin fight. If that means low blows, follow up elbows, use of the head then tough, its not a tickling contest is it. The hard work will be done at the negotiating table, like who refs the fight, and the venue. Ricky Hatton is not some skint whipping boy that will be there to showcase Mayweathers talents. He will do whatever it takes to intimidate Mayweather, and dont think its beyond Hatton, he might be a nice guy out of the ring, but he can, and does, do whatever it takes to win inside it. :box:
