Calzaghe-Taylor would be interesting, I'd favor calzone right now....fighting kessler is more of a legacy fight however, imo....

That's what he said in the meeting with American writers this week, in his New York visit. Apparently Lou DiBella was there and appeared to be interested for a fight next year.

Can't see that happening before late 2007. Calzaghe would have to fight someone credible in America first (maybe Glen Johnson) and Taylor has to take care of business against Ouma & Wright.

Like I said before, his heart isn't in a fight with Kessler. Kessler's promoter has said 'anyway, MK has two mandatories'. Ppl are becoming resigned to the idea that Calzaghe-Kessler ain't happening!

Then again, if HBO are marketing Miranda, there is another sensible reason for JT to stay at middle.
I can't imagine HBO are seriously interested in marketing Miranda, the guy couldn't land a half-decent shot on a guy who was hardly all there due to loss of blood, he almost made abraham looked like pernell whitaker with those ridiculous swinging air punches...he will knock gibbs spark out however, that is an utter mismatch...
maybe they're doing it just for the exciting matchup. But if things work out, vicious kayo punchers are always in demand. HBO love the boys next door of Olympic pedigree, but they also like the crazy, intimidating types.

I'm not convinced that Taylor is the finished article, myself. 3 disputed fights (2 vs a bone dry, 40 yo Hopkins who long needed a move up in weight; one vs Wright, the light hitting master who was able to outhustle and back up the harder hitting JT) where he did no more than hold his own -and what. top 4 pound for pound rated??

Don't think it should be viewed as an ether or thing. For arguments sake lets say Calzaghe fights 4 more times, if one of those was to become a 4 belt champion and the other was to beat another 4 belt champion then no one could dispute his legacy dispite years of fighting low caliber opposition and selling the fans short. By doing this he would make him self p4p no. 1 if he then moved up a weight all the better.

lvlarc_uk is exactly right, Kessler's side should be equally to blame if the fight does not happen as we don't know the true facts of whats going on if it doesn't happen.

Premature to say it won't happen though, especially in an always suprising sport like Boxing.

Pundit why should SN have to pay off someone who isn't Joe's mandatory? Kessler's the one who chose to fight Beyer for his belt, so it's his problem to sort Andrade out.

James, Joe also said Kessler motivates him to stay at super middle in Boxing Monlthy in the issue before last I think.

Well I had him beating both BHOPs and Winky but they were close affairs. Taylor actually drains more than BHOPs so I don't think BHOPs been drained is an excse, age certainly is.

Taylor apparently easily handled Lacy in sparring for what thats worth.

I think Taylors straight punching and athletacism will beat Calazage myself.

Of the three fights, I only had Taylor winning Hopkins II. I had him losing the 1st, winning the 2nd, drawing Wright on the strength of his harder punching.

The weight and decline in speed was very restrictive for Hopkins, who had to rely on smoke and mirrors tactics and Ottke footwork vs Taylor.

At Taylor's age he can handle cutting weight better than a 40 year old who was told by Shilstone he should've moved up in weight years ago.

On that subject, Calzaghe seems ok at super middle, even though he's stuggled to get down for years. I wonder how different he'd look at 175.

IMO Taylor would get overwhelmed by Calzaghe. JT has fast, heavy hands, a wicked body attack etc. But he's spent too long beating up junior middles for me to like his chances vs any of the top 4 super middles.

HBO are spreading too much Gospel on Taylor. Maybe that's why I am resisting. I just want to see more from the guy.

Taylor is still in progress. That's why I like him. He has it all to prove, so he probably will do eventually.

Kessler's side should be blamed for having two quality mandatories! Ha

Why does Frank mention everyone but Kessler??

Why does Calzaghe do the same??

Why did SN even fvck up getting Beyer?? They had to fight beyer, insisting on Sept. Beyer needed time to heal his cuts, and needed Oct. So they made Calzaghe-Bika. In October!

Why does Frank only mention Kessler's name when Kessler is injured or fighting someone else??

Calzaghe has mentioned Kessler. :-?

He mentioned in the Boxing Monthly Issue with Guzman on the cover.

BBC have mentioned both camps are in talks too. :-?

Does it matter Calzaghe fought Beyer? Kessler did that for him and got him out of the way.

Kessler's mentioned when he's not injured too.

Since when is Andrande a quality mandatory? I would of never heard of this guy if it wasn't for him being a WBC mandatory for someone whos a quality opponent for Calzaghe to fight.

The WBC are biased for their own after all and for DLH fighters.

He's already beaten Mundine too who'd rather make a couple of million fighting crap, yet Pundit has the nerve to mostly give Calzaghe stick for it and said Ottke needed Calzaghe. He calls Ottke quality even though he said he should fight Calzaghe, but says Calzaghe needs Kessler and ducks anyone good.

Of course it matters, Calzaghe had the chance to fight Beyer in October but turned it down saying they wanted to fight in September. And he ends up fighting Bika in October anyway! Ridiculous he could have unified 3 of the belts, how is that not better than fighting a nothing fight with Bika?

Beyer would of been better because he held a belt, but shit happens.

Least Kessler got him out of the way so it doesn't matter now.
