Result is impressive yes, but it just looked like the same ol' Froch in there.
Still holds his hands way too low and any top 10 SM would make him pay for that. It was more of a sparring match, all that pre hype about being a grudge match, pace was quite slow.

Have to give credit though as he did the job and made it look fairly easy once he upped the tempo.

That was a peach of a body shot, John. Dodson didn't quit.... nice to see mutual respect between the two. Hope Tony can regroup.

Well done Froch... Green is a good step for him, then maybe Lacy. Although if Robin Reid is serious, then Froch should make one final defence against him.

Still think Kessler and Joe Calzaghe will be too much, but anyone else and it could be good.

Here is a fight that not many have considered.

How about Froch vs Woods.

I think he could give a bloody good account of himself with the whole lot of them ... I seriously rate him.

If I had a choice I would be putting him in with Mundine or Lacy then one of the bigger 3 fighters that you mention.

That was a fantastic performance from Froch this evening.,

Maybe I was a bit harsh, it's always difficult to judge how hurt a fighter is from a body shot. I was just disappointed and surprised that it ended so suddenly and so early, but Froch was definitely beginning to look like he had taken control before the knockdown.

I think Carl would be compeitive with Woods. I don't actually rate Woods that highly, but I don't think this would happen anyway as there is no reason for Froch to move up, although it would likely be a more winnable fight than either Kessler or Calzaghe.

I do agree, it was sudden. It looked like Froch had gathered control, but it was still interesting... it looked like Dodson might test his heart and stamina down the stretch.

However, I think a fighter on his knee favouring his side LONG after the 10 count is a sign of a geniune "out of it" KO.

Now, Michael Hunter's the other night........

I was very surprised Dodson didn't get up. Can't say I was too impressed with Dodson. Nice body shot though.

It was like when Hopkins stopped DLH....

Yes, I thought exactly the same..... That was a peach too, and I don't think DLH was acting there. Unlike Dodson, DLH has proven time and time again he has fighting heart (remember Quartey).

Body shots can KO people you know. I think both DLH and Dodson went down to peach of punches that completely knocked the wind out of them.

Tony seemed to run out of ideas alltogether in the 3rd.

Tony can, and hopefully will come back...its a levels thing.

Froch has proved he is real world class...he is still a prize plum...but a prize plum who can fight.

Calzaghe don`t need him...and Kessler is just too good for him...don`t see where he can go from a european belt.

Bit naff considering it was being billed as a big grudge match.

Respect to Froch he got the right shot in. A tosser move to barge at Tony with his shoulder before the fight started, but Froch is the best of the domestic pile.

I nearly thought he was going to outwork Froch just like Nickd said and he his guard was high to catch Froch's shots on his arms but the body was open.

Froch will obviously vacate the belts now for the Euro or world eliminators so Tony can definately win back his belt.

You did great Tony, you didn't let anyone down. :TU:

The people in The Parkway pub in Garston were great and cheered you on. :TU:

Maybe Light Heavy? Maybe if ex world champions Glenn Cateley and Robin Reid can comeback well.... could be some money.

However, I don't think a world title fight at Super Middle in is in the near future - so maybe a Light Heavyweight title fight is the next step.

Although, I don't think Froch will be quarter as effective at Light Heavy, cause its is size and strength which are his biggest asset.

Calzaghe and Kessler will be too quick for Froch to catch with his slow heavy shots.

Kessler like Tony has a high guard to catch Froch's punches on the arm.

S-middle is his division...don`t see why he`d move up.

But as good (I hate to even write it) as he is..he has too many major flaws..

He can punch..no doubt

He has good variety..

But the level he has been fighting has flattered...Dodson was said to be 170-something to Froch`s 7th ranking in the independent rankings....nuff said.

Magee was the best name he has beaten...and Magee is well known to be fragile....who on the real world stage could Magee have beaten.

At the moment the two real names in the division are Calzaghe and Kessler....Froch couldn`t beat any of them.

Calzaghe would bore us by out-classing Froch for the 12rnds.

Kessler would KO Froch with a text book straight right hand.

Is Magee really that good though? He was in a close fight with Froch until the KO.

Froch has to really go through alot of shots to get the KO's though so no wonder it will only work for him European level and below.

He might be better broadening his training and visit other gyms to learn more. It's working for Haye when he goes to Miami and when Lennox visited him. He won't learn much just staying in a bedsit with McCracken for 6 to 8 weeks.

Froch will always be the same - flawed but hugely dangerous. He's open to getting hit, but his chin seems pretty good, and he has the power to stop anyone if he lands properly. That's why, despite his flaws, I would give him a chance against ANY super middle in the world right now.

Carls a class act, he gives any Super-Middle in the world a serious argument. I can't wait to see him in with the BIG boys, I think he'll surprise a few

Bute Vs Froch is mouthwatering :box:

Forget that, Froch v Allan Green might prove a thing or two... one way or another.

Even Calzaghe? :o

Maybe he could have a punchers chance since Kessler was open to the body against Beyer but Calzaghe will make Froch's face more swollen than James Space hoppers.

Whatever anyones personal view about Froch, the fact is he always comes through and does the business.

He is still slow and is wide open for the haymakers to land, but thus far in his career he has gotten away with it - I still don't think he can get away with it at world level.

Dodson started brightly, but in the third he was starting to get pot shotted and picked off quite easily - He took the big uppercut well enough, but the follow up body shot took him apart.

Frock looks solid and is well established at the weight, personally I wouldnt like to see him move up to light heavy - His team seem keen to chase the WBC route and a fight with Kessler is very possible. I would like to see that fight, because I think Kessler is way overatted and Froch can win that fight.

It's much too early to start mentioning Froch fighting at the very top of this divivion. Last night showed me nothing I didn't already know. He has reasonable power, a good chin, he puts his punches together nicely, and his conditioning is excellent. But the same old faults were there. He seemed over-confident, and I don't even think he's concerned about his defence. He doesn't seem to realise that his reactions are not good enough to fight with his hands down like he does. Against the very top names that will cost him. If Dodson, Adamu, and Magee can have no trouble in finding the target then Calzage, Kessler and Lacy would hit him all day long.

Having said that, he's not going to be matched against the likes of those names just yet anyway. It would be interesting to see how he fares at top European level over the next six months. My guess is he'll find it alot harder.

Lucian Bute would smoke Carl's boots!

Froch is a bit of an enigma: he has the size, weight of shot and amateur schooling to compete on a world level but his lax defence and often times seeming lack of urgency worry me greatly.

Maybe he can put it all together on the worls stage, I dont know, but Bute looks the complete package to me..

All 3 beat him I reckon. Still hasn't learnt how to hold a guard, then again he didn't need to tonight..
Surely you were impressed though??

Have to say I am a tadge concerned about Mr Hennessy ... he really needs to get a bigger suit in my opinion ... he looked fit to burst!!! and to say Froch is a bigger fight than Clinton Woods for Calzaghe at this stage is plain barking mad!!!

But back to Froch ... impressed.
I suppose SPUD thats the reason you dont wear a hat ! Cant find one to fit your massive potato shaped head lol

Yeah Bute also looks a class act from what I've seen of him, but these are the type of fights I want to see Carl in and they seem to be the type of fights Carl wants. He doesn't seem to be looking for the path of least resistance to the top and for that he gets my respect.

Ideally I'd like to see him fight for the Euro title next, but it sounds like there are too many political problems, so its onto the World scene. Bring them all on!!!!

Froch is world class, he will give most top guys a hard fight. Excellent shot selection. defence is a bit worrying. He is a winner.
