He was very good but I'm not ready to jump on the bandwagon just yet, not until I see him fight like that again

I don't see Audley as much of a threat to anyone;

I agree Skelton would have been a better test for Audley, but Skelton's NO Threat on the world's HW stage... "poor as it is!"

Hows about that then :D :D

Thats the fight and fighter I thought I was going to see last year, that performance was definately worth waiting for though. Its difficult to know what Williams had left in the tank going into the fight, but that shouldn't detract from the fact that Audleys performance and attitude in the ring was fantastic. He was leading off far more regularly than he has been, not just countering, and he was exciting to watch.

I'm hoping the Audley-Skelton fight gets remade asap, it'll give us a closure on the domestic scene and Skelton will be a good yardstick to judge the New-Born Audley by, then I can really start to get excited again

He's shut up all the idiots who were coming out with the "no bottle" and "no heart" comments.

Respect to Danny Williams for how he was in the post fight interview, he showed true class. I personally hope he hangs em up now, he's got nothing else to prove.

No he hasn't, how did that show he has heart. When did Danny take him too the trenches.

Don't get me wrong he looked okay, but it didn't "test" anything.

Thats all Audley showed is that he is a good ontop fighter.... Question marks still go one about Wladimir Klitchsko, questions will still remain about Audley.

Skelton can prove something, cause I think he will be in better condition and be able to take Harrison's shots.

I'm not saying Audley has answered all the questions surrounding him, I;m just saying that he wasn't running scared like a fighter with no bottle or no heart would have done, he went in there looking focussed and determined and he took Danny out. Don't get me wrong I know Audley is going too have to dig a lot deeper than he did tonight, but this performance was a good start. Can't wait for the Skelton fight

On a side note, Dominick Guinn is on the Taylor vs Ouma undercard... I wonder if it will be shown here? He's fight Zack Page who looked okay beating a shot Lou Del Valle last time out.

I still think Guinn will answer us some questions on Harrison.

Guinn fight is over, don't think it will be shown on SKY. Fightnews.com has result up. This Augustus fight could have been stopped a few rounds ago..

Yes looks good on paper but we all know it wasn't the original fight, a weeks notice is not enough for a fighter to prepare. Get Harrison in with Skelton and that will mean something.

Danny is well over what his weight should be to be effective. The talented promising Danny Williams they used to talk about is a few stones lighter.

Well done to Audley Harrison at last!

However, don't think that he didn't deserve criticism for his previous performances, because, he almost ceratinly did!

Just as he deserved to be criticised for the 1st Williams fight & the Guinn fight, he deserves praise for last night's showing.

He should have been KOing the likes of Williams in 2002/3 & he should have been HW champ 2-3 years ago in such a weak era of HW boxing.

Hopefully, instead of mouthing off in future, he can get on, actually have some fights & win a title that could & should have won years ago.

Dude there getting beat by Eastern Europeans, yet your saying he'll do ok against the Euros.
Your talking to the wrong person if your saying Wlad is all that, as soon as his china chin gets stroked again it will be all over.

As for the Eastern Europeans beating the American Heavys, i reccon their 15 minutes of fame will be ending pretty soon.
Quite the opposite actually.
Look at all the decent young fighters coming through, their mainly eastern european.
Povetkin could beat Briggs(the no.1 US heavy)right now IMO,and he has only had 10 fights.
ALso,look at the amateur scene.Completley dominated by the eastern europeans.
If anything,I would say the gap will widen in the next 5 years.
The US don't have much in the way of genuine prospects, and their amateur scene in the super heavies is shit.

Audley was spineless against Williams & to lesser extent, against Guinn.

Just because he has finally shown some fortitude after nearly 7 years as a pro, does not make him the 2nd coming of Joe Louis.

It's easy to be wise after the event & insult people for having valid opinions, but the fact is, he deserved the criticism.

It was probably those critics which brought Audley out of his shell.

Had he listened to his jockstrap carriers, he'd still be walking around still thinking he was Joe Louis or something. :box:

Cant say I was impressed by either man.

Wiliams may have been 20 lbs lihter than last time but he was still 19st plus.

I dont think he trained at all, his timing was woeful. I reckon Warren dragged him out of the pie shop a week ago and said ffs dont eat until after the weigh in so your weight is respectable and it looks a fight on paper.

Harrison wouldnt beat any of the four titlists. He's cack.

I know i'm often negative and over skeptical but i really can't see the fuss about Audley's win. Shame i couldn't get on to post before the fight as i had a real feeling Harrison would come out with aggression in mind to "silence the critics" and so it proved.

Still despite this new found confidence Audley was shit scared put on the back foot and i saw panic. He got the win and showed nice combinations but let's be honest...he was in with an unpredictable, out of condition, mentally fragile man. Beating Williams is a step in the right direction but despite the ITV hype how does it now mean he has proved he is world class? How can a title shot be on the horizon? Audley gained redemption last night but nothing more.

In Danny William he faced a brave but finished fighter, a guy content to stand with gloves held on face and take big bombs. Williams had bravery but nothing else, the token shows of aggression were courageous but proved little. I'm sorry to be negative but all the ITV hoopla after the fight was nauseating, it was a good win but nothing more IMHO!

still a long way to go, but was impressed by how he was prepared to stand toe toe with williams near the end when williams started brawling when he knew he needed a KO. didnt look as scared of being hit, and didnt look to tie him up.

his inside work is non-existent still though. williams was always the aggressor in clinches. skelton would have a field day in that respect.

I'd still pick Skelton over Harrison, beating a under trained and basically shot Williams doesnt make Audely a world title hope... ok, he looked fairly good but against someonme who was basically there for the taking... and I think much of Audelys good work was undone by his after fight ranting, he should not be demanding the respect/love of the public he has to earn it, the way he was carrying on you'd think he had beaten Godzilla... someone should tell Audely to calm down on the third person talk otherwise even if he goes on to win a world title title (which is doubtful) he's unlikely ever to win the fans over....

100% spot on.

He deserves credit, but he only did what he should have done a year ago (or longer ago in reality) & like you say, he did not beat Joe Frazier or something, so he just needs to calm it down a bit.

The jury is still out as far as I'm concerned, but I'm a bit more optimistic than this time last year.

Yeah, I'd still pick Skelton over Harrison if they fight, he'd be a far different proposition to Williams, busy, bigger and wouldnt give Audely the room that he needs to get off his shots... ITV seemed to have forgotten all about Skelton last night when they were proclaiming Audely the second coming, which seems rather harsh on Matt who has always put 100% into his fights and is still Britains number one imo...

Long way to be truly world class. But this was a different Audley Harrison. In the first Williams fight he was missing by miles, he had no workrate, he was scared to throw. This time he was accurate, nice combinations, solid shots with decent power. He both cut up and ko'd Williams. He still has frailties all the same.

I don't think he'll ever be able to beat Wlad but fighters like Briggs (whos worse than Williams), and to a lesser extent Valuev and Maskeev are fights he could potentially win.

Was he spineless or was he just having a bad time of things??? Calling a boxer spineless and saying he hads no heart is a massive insult, Audley was having troubles outside the ring and it effected him in the ring (that doesn't make him spineless IMO).

Hes sorted his head out and last night he was impressive. Its a good start and nothing more, he's got to perform like that everytime he gets in the ring. Can't wait for the Skelton fight to get remade! :box:
