Thats the fight and fighter I thought I was going to see last year, that performance was definately worth waiting for though. Its difficult to know what Williams had left in the tank going into the fight, but that shouldn't detract from the fact that Audleys performance and attitude in the ring was fantastic. He was leading off far more regularly than he has been, not just countering, and he was exciting to watch.
I'm hoping the Audley-Skelton fight gets remade asap, it'll give us a closure on the domestic scene and Skelton will be a good yardstick to judge the New-Born Audley by, then I can really start to get excited again
He's shut up all the idiots who were coming out with the "no bottle" and "no heart" comments.
Respect to Danny Williams for how he was in the post fight interview, he showed true class. I personally hope he hangs em up now, he's got nothing else to prove.
No he hasn't, how did that show he has heart. When did Danny take him too the trenches.Chesney_Chambers wrote:Hows about that then![]()

I'm not saying Audley has answered all the questions surrounding him, I;m just saying that he wasn't running scared like a fighter with no bottle or no heart would have done, he went in there looking focussed and determined and he took Danny out. Don't get me wrong I know Audley is going too have to dig a lot deeper than he did tonight, but this performance was a good start. Can't wait for the Skelton fightstujones wrote:No he hasn't, how did that show he has heart. When did Danny take him too the trenches.Chesney_Chambers wrote:Hows about that then![]()

Don't get me wrong he looked okay, but it didn't "test" anything.
Thats all Audley showed is that he is a good ontop fighter.... Question marks still go one about Wladimir Klitchsko, questions will still remain about Audley.
Skelton can prove something, cause I think he will be in better condition and be able to take Harrison's shots.
Guinn fight is over, don't think it will be shown on SKY. Fightnews.com has result up. This Augustus fight could have been stopped a few rounds ago..stujones wrote:On a side note, Dominick Guinn is on the Taylor vs Ouma undercard... I wonder if it will be shown here? He's fight Zack Page who looked okay beating a shot Lou Del Valle last time out.
I still think Guinn will answer us some questions on Harrison.
Quite the opposite actually.SIMPSONS wrote:Your talking to the wrong person if your saying Wlad is all that, as soon as his china chin gets stroked again it will be all over.Max Molyneux wrote:He says he can fight on the inside, but he just looks to hold.
So does Wlad and he's the IBF champ.
Dude there getting beat by Eastern Europeans, yet your saying he'll do ok against the Euros.any half decent seasoned American
As for the Eastern Europeans beating the American Heavys, i reccon their 15 minutes of fame will be ending pretty soon.
People who criticised Audley for having no heart etc were perfectly justified in doing so & that does not make them idiots!Chesney_Chambers wrote:Hows about that then![]()

100% spot on.silkov wrote:I'd still pick Skelton over Harrison, beating a under trained and basically shot Williams doesnt make Audely a world title hope... ok, he looked fairly good but against someonme who was basically there for the taking... and I think much of Audelys good work was undone by his after fight ranting, he should not be demanding the respect/love of the public he has to earn it, the way he was carrying on you'd think he had beaten Godzilla... someone should tell Audely to calm down on the third person talk otherwise even if he goes on to win a world title title (which is doubtful) he's unlikely ever to win the fans over....
Yeah, I'd still pick Skelton over Harrison if they fight, he'd be a far different proposition to Williams, busy, bigger and wouldnt give Audely the room that he needs to get off his shots... ITV seemed to have forgotten all about Skelton last night when they were proclaiming Audely the second coming, which seems rather harsh on Matt who has always put 100% into his fights and is still Britains number one imo...Syntax Error wrote:100% spot on.silkov wrote:I'd still pick Skelton over Harrison, beating a under trained and basically shot Williams doesnt make Audely a world title hope... ok, he looked fairly good but against someonme who was basically there for the taking... and I think much of Audelys good work was undone by his after fight ranting, he should not be demanding the respect/love of the public he has to earn it, the way he was carrying on you'd think he had beaten Godzilla... someone should tell Audely to calm down on the third person talk otherwise even if he goes on to win a world title title (which is doubtful) he's unlikely ever to win the fans over....
He deserves credit, but he only did what he should have done a year ago (or longer ago in reality) & like you say, he did not beat Joe Frazier or something, so he just needs to calm it down a bit.
The jury is still out as far as I'm concerned, but I'm a bit more optimistic than this time last year.
You bastard! I was reaching for my Cherry Coke as I read that; now I've spilled some on me trousers.Syntax Error wrote:does not make him the 2nd coming of Joe Louis.
Was he spineless or was he just having a bad time of things??? Calling a boxer spineless and saying he hads no heart is a massive insult, Audley was having troubles outside the ring and it effected him in the ring (that doesn't make him spineless IMO).Syntax Error wrote:People who criticised Audley for having no heart etc were perfectly justified in doing so & that does not make them idiots!Chesney_Chambers wrote:Hows about that then![]()

Audley was spineless against Williams & to lesser extent, against Guinn.
Just because he has finally shown some fortitude after nearly 7 years as a pro, does not make him the 2nd coming of Joe Louis.
It's easy to be wise after the event & insult people for having valid opinions, but the fact is, he deserved the criticism.
It was probably those critics which brought Audley out of his shell.
Had he listened to his jockstrap carriers, he'd still be walking around still thinking he was Joe Louis or something.

Hes sorted his head out and last night he was impressive. Its a good start and nothing more, he's got to perform like that everytime he gets in the ring. Can't wait for the Skelton fight to get remade!
