Haye has still got to prove something at this weight,and there are plenty of better cruisers out there than the paper champion that is Macca.
IMO Macca needs Haye a lot more than Haye needs him,which makes no sense of Macca's refusal to share a ring with Haye in April
Now if Bell and Mormeck are fighting in March, that means with the track record of both fighters we can expect the winner to fight again hmmm say end of the year at the earliest. Going by what David Haye has said himself about his weight troubles will he be able to make cruiser by then? And even if he could make the weight would it be worth his career stagnating all that time? So based on these reasons I don't think its entirely unreasonable to consign a Haye fight vs Bell/Mormeck to the dustbin leaving..... a fight with EnzoApril 2007 is my only timeframe for this fight. After that month passes, my career schedule will only include O'Neil Bell at cruiserweight. If this fight isn't signed by January 7, 2007, then it will never happen.
I disagree about Enzo needing a fight with Haye more than vice versa. Haye's team is making by far the most noise about this fight and that should tell you something! Enzo has a belt and if matched correctly he could make a number of defences stretching into double digits and that adds up to serious cash. So what he does he gain from fighting Haye? All he does is risk losing his belt and with it a load of top dollar! If he beats Haye what does he gain? Sweet FA. But Haye gains exposure on prime time ITV, a world championship belt and a bumper payday before he moves up to heavyweight. Enzo has it all to lose and Haye has it all to gain no wonder he's desperate for the fight to be made.
Yet,when Haye makes a genuine(and also decent)offer,Macca and Warren are'nt interested.
Haye has more to lose in this fight,for certain.
Haye is the more talented fighter,who also happens to double up as a male model,and will eventually move upto the flagship division of the sport.
A defeat to a guy like Enzo,who holds a paper title(please don't kid yourself by suggesting it's a genuine title.FW bought it for him)and who,IMO,would get beat at top european level,let alone on the world stage,would be disastrous to his long term plans.
Enzo has everything to gain.He can finally silence his doubters who claim he only faces over the hill,or grade D fighters.
He would also prove himself a genuine world title holder should he beat Haye.
And defeat to a possible future world havyweight title contender is no disgrace at all,so,for me,it's win-win for Enzo.
Macca is never going to pull up any trees in this sport,something you more or less agtree with by suggesting if he is matched carefully(in other words,fighting a load of 2nd tier WBO FWank Warren scrubs)he can achieve success(it is that attitude that is killing the sport)
I think this is a great opportunity for Macca,so I can't see why he is more or less bottling it?
Even if Haye did'nt get his shot against Bell/Mormeck,there are still plenty of better fighters out there at cruiser for Haye to chase.
One thing is for sure,going by the records of both their respective careers so far,Haye is trying to do it properly,and is willing to fight the very best out there,and is prepared to fight anyone....Macca?well,you might want to see Calzaghe's blueprint for greatness
Enzo will try to face as many WBO/Warren mandatories he can until he is forced to take on a decent operator,at which it will all end.
