Just found out from BBBOC that you can box with laser corrected vision.
Unlucky punk.
I shouldnt think that the laser thing would be any problem, dont take any notice of Simp, remember Dennis Andries didnt turn pro till he was at least 28 (he was always vague about his age!) without much Amutuer career, and he won the world title 3 times!... so the possiblilities are there if you really go for it and have some talent...
Why do people on this thread keep mentioning 28?...like 28 and 32 are the same thing, thats four years folks....and a lot of pro careers don't even last that long.
Ya'll gonna get Mr Bean Killed!
Mr Bean , a.k.a corrales / DLH or any other tall guy who has fought at lightweight.

It depends how good you already are and how physically fit and strong you are. Do boxing training in a gym for 6months.
Have a good trainer take you on the pads and he should be able to tell you if your wasting your time or not. Where are you from? Maybe someone here could train with you and advice you.
You'll learn allot doing boxing for 6months and it may or may not be enough to stand you in good stead. You don't want to be getting in the ring with a good prospect if your simply going to get hurt.

Phenom has given you the best advice so far. I'll throw my 2 cents in... Take all the nay sayers posts, enlarge them in bold letters and put it on your fridge or mirror. Look at it every single day and let it inspire you to follow your dream. If your heart and mind are truly set on it, then I say you could probably make the pros in 2 years. Dwight Qawi had no amateur experience and became a VERY good light hvy and cruiser champ. He won the title in his 20th fight. Your determination and toughness will have to make up for the lack of experience but if you believe in yourself then go for it. Even if you don't become the champion, I will guarantee it will only help you in all other areas of your life.

Phemon is right in that if you turn pro you need to make sure that the people around you have your best interests at heart, basically you dont want to be used as fodder for some bright prospect with over a 100 amutuer bouts behind him, but I'm sure your sensible enough to know this yourself and one of the advantages of going into boxing at your age is that you probably know a fair bit about the game already and the possible dangers and pitfalls and the people you should keep clear of...
the best thing to do is to try and get a good trainer behind you and take it from there...

I would have thought the obvious answer would be have ago at Amateur Boxing.
If your half fit you could be carded within a month & boxing by March.
Have about 5 bouts by the start of the summer then come back to us, you could answer your own question then!
Theres no time like now, get down and give me 20
