ps. these people who are going round saying John is crap need to learn some respect. I've never seen him box once and even if I did I wouldn't go round knocking the lad from the comfort and privacy of my own arm-chair.
It's a tough enough game to start. I don't think the opinions of a few people who I doubt have an ounce of John's dedication and motivation really mean a jot to be honest.

my was at the succint nature of the post. John is not crap but he is definetly changeable. Lenord Pierre in one, and Yory Boy takes him into a war? very strange. I cant see him going much further unless he performs consistently and with snap.

I think if a boxer got in touch it should be changed (i dont know if this ever has happened though). Until then, best to have a standard system. Given John was born in Northern Ireland (seperate from the Republic) - which is part of the United Kingdom - he could easily and technically be classed as British... Indeed though, around a third of Northern Irish born class themselves as Irish... However, that is a seperate issue altogether and not one that needs spoken about...

I'm sure most don't care about my above sentences but thought i'd throw it in there anyway

Plenty of Irish republicans who live in the north of ireland have irish passports and to not recognise there nationality would be quite offencive to them. I don't see why when asked boxrec don't chainge it.

Dude theres nothing wrong with arm chair cheerleading, I'm simply overstating the truth. John Duddy is seriously limited, I would barely rate him at British Title level (please no refernce to British/Irish thing).

I give him his dues however, he has made the best out of his abilities and has earned a few pound along the way. A few other Irish boxers should follow his example.

Duddy v Pavlik (that seems to appear in some forums) would be mismatch of the century! I respect JD as a boxer, but as an armchair supporter I cant but fell hes overrated.

Andy Lee however, is a different prospect altogether, and the pnly Irish boxer on the scene at the mo who I think could win a Major title.

British or Irish, Duddy just aint that good... I think he should concentrate on his boxing rather than worry about running Sheps boxing forum for him!....

Silkov - this really about Duddy - it could be any boxer in the same situation - for example Damaen Kelly - and there will be more to come especially because of the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belfast_Agreement - the law has changed with regards the nationality of people from the north and that needs to be acknowledged.

We will have this same agrument over Paul McCloskey soon and forever more when new Irish boxers come through from the north. Its about having proper records not about Duddy personally

Well I understand and have to say that if a fighter wants to be recognised as a certain nationality then I dont see a problem with that and why a forum doesnt accept that wish. Having said that though it depends how Duddy made his point, it could well be that Shep is sticking to his guns as he doesnt want certain people telling him how to run his own forum, which I can also appreciate. In the end its all rather petty and sad that a excellent forum like this has to be involved in such a dispute....

in all honesty thats a false argument silkov because

1. no one initially "demanded" Duddy's nationality was changed to Irish - is was requested, it was only after point blank refusal and his accusations that Irish people were just "terrorists" that it became heated

2. Many people make the same requests on a daily basis - infact we have a whole sub formed called "Record Queries & Updates" which does this.

Its a perfectly reasonable request especially as his management team have confirmed he has an Irish passport and also as I have outlined above people from Northern Ireland are legally entitled to Irish, British or both citizenships.

Shep simply cant justify his rationale in a consistant manner - hence the reason so many people are pissed off.

If that has been said(wont say either way) then the guy is a pudendum.my family are all Irish Nationalists but they aint terrorists(though De Valeras position is backed whole heartedly) Is John Shep just a massive Unionist sympathiser? Should I post when drunk??
