It's unusual for an ex boxer to assume the mantle of internet warrior but then again we only have your word for it that you have actually boxed.

Based on this diatribe I put you in the category of wannabe hardman and fulltime f*ckwit.
Far from an internet warrior mr Collins, and a warrior is far more then what is required to fluss a roach like him off one's shoulder.

I can operate at any level. In can be cool and adult and respectful, or I can sink to the gutter trash level of your buddy there. A F*ckwit ? No, but I can out do the best of the F*ckwits when I run into them, as you have seen.

Was there any reason for him inserting the comment he did ? I think not, except he is clearly an attenetion starved little bitch. I just gave him the attention he asked for. I pity angry loners, just trying to help him out.

And yeah, you have my word that I was a fighter, which is all you need. When I post here, it is when I am working from home, and generally post when i am running a program or application, and I have time on my hands. This is a fun distraction for me, not a daily addiction like with some others.

Enjoy !
Oh, I did enjoy. In fact, I always enjoy your posts. I love a man with an agenda, offspring of the DeJohn clan.

So now we know who you are, you can dispense with the partial cloak of annonimity. I'm not sure what purpose it served. Rather than mindless attacks, people in here are more likely to ask for insight into the careers of your relatives who fought, with mixed success, against some of the top contenders of their era. Unless, of course, like our most famous 'sire of', their memory is sacred and not for open discussion by mere fans.

On another issue, I'm still interested to know the names of 'the greatest fighters of his era' that Gregorio Peralta beat. Is your silence on this subject acceptance on your part that it was a claim you now regret making?

Now is your chance to back up your latest claim ie that you are capable of intelligent debate. Don't let me down.

I inserted that comment because you're a fake-ass bitch, not because I crave attention. If I wanted more attention, I'd be posting my essays and lists on Sportsline, Inside Fighting or one of the other websites I've written for instead of posting them here, where I might possibly find 15 or 20 people who can comment on them intelligently. When I post something like that here, it's so that I might improve it, rather than defend it.

No, like I said, it was for the same reason you post attacks on others, because you are an attention starved pathetic whiney little bitch who finds solace in your meaningless life, by doing a bad impression of a wannabe bad ass on an internet web sight. All if which would be fine, if occasionally you had something valuable to contribute.
Now even a one eyed neutered dog gets lucky and uncovers a second hand chewed up bone now and then, and occasionally you used to get lucky and accidentally make a decent point, but that was rare. Recently however, that has been non existent.
Now run along son, you are beginning to resemble a stalker

Well well, seems you are capable of some basic research huh ?
Yes indeed, i am a member of the DeJohn clan. Nice to know I am OWNING enough free space in your skull that you felt compelled to do the research. I have no idea what that has to do with an "agenda"...but anyway...

Since DeGianni is not mine or my Dad's surname however, (both of us had pro careers as well) seems you still have some work to do....so happy hunting. Just don't bore me with 20 questions, because you are on your own. So you see, my anonymity is still very much in tact....unless I decide to compromise it.

The fact that you were able to determine that I was a member of that boxing family, is evidence that I have been more then forthcoming with info on them, not to mention Joe Netro, Basilio, Backus and others. So you see, I have never shunned the discussion with "mere fans", I just did so from an non personal standpoint.
As for mine or my dad's career ? Neither is interesting enough to warrant a discussion, it would simply lead to the same nonsense I see directed at other who broadcast their personal ID

Like I said before, i have seen how the subject "becomes the poster" when it is a known fighter of ex fighter, as if someone has to have had an untarnished career, in order to comment on the career of others.
Idiots will find their own ammo, no need for me to supply it.

As for that tired old played out Peralta question, i explained how wins and losses are only a piece of the puzzle when it comes to career achievement, that wins that lead to world and regional title shots, and 100 wins, are an important factor, and that no reasonable person with a grasp of boxing history could possibly include Ron Lyle on a all time list, and exclude Peralta.
But the simple equation seems to have either escaped you, or more likely, since you don’t impress me as a complete idiot, you are just grasping at straws in the dark
Either way, again, you have more work to do

Best you stop your futile attempt at sparring with me, and get busy

I have heard that that is the case, but I also heard that that dynamic chaged back and forth several times, and that any chance of ongoing freindship was lost leading up to Manila

Cosand, your statement was "Gregoria Peralta beat some of the greatest fighters of his era therefore...".

I can't see any great fighters on his resume that he beat.

I never said he wasn't a good fighter.

I merely asked who were the great fighters he beat.

So far you have named none.

Lots of noise and posturing but no actual information.

You misunderstand. I have no real interest in who you are per se.

However, one of your early (but still amusing) posts was along the lines of "If only you knew who I was blah blah blah. I have 4 relations on the database here blah blah blah therefore my opinions should be treated as holy writ."

I just want to understand why you think being related to a contender or two makes you some sort of boxing expert.

If that's not what you meant, why mention it?

Some of your opinions i agree with, some i disagree with but can see the reasoning and some I find laughable. However, in none of them do I detect a boxing expert whose opinions I should accept without question. I just see an average fan like most of the rest of us but one who is easily upset and who occasionally threatens his peers with physical attacks. I must admit i find that a bit bizarre. Funny, of course, but bizarre nevertheless.

Collins.....

A couple of things.... Then let's let this childish banter end, till we meet again on the opposite side of an actual topic.

I don't recall ever saying....."Gregoria Peralta beat some of the greatest fighters of his era therefore...".
I believe I said that referring to another fighter whom I was defending on a list.
If I did however, it was at best, hyperbole on my part, I retract it, and stand humbly corrected.
I still however, would place him on a top 50 all time list, (as is the case with all my lists, in no particular order after 10 or 15) based on his courage, 100 wins, and his willingness to take on the best in the game, sometimes twice, and give a good account of himself almost every time. Again, in my book, achievement is not always based solely on wins and losses.
As I have said 100 times, that is the problem with "lists". Anything past 10 or 15, becomes too subjective and so nit picking and hair splitting that they become impossible to either refute or defend

With that out of the way (hopefully)...I think you need to review the context in which (twice I believe) I played my family tree card in a heated discussion.
Once was in response to someone, claiming his was the final word on a subject, because he "spends countless hours reviewing 1950s newspaper articles". I simply pointed out, that my information from that era came first hand across the Sunday dinner table from the time I could walk.
The other time, was when a completely whacked nutjob, questioned my knowledge of the sport. Again, i simply pointed out that having been raised in a home and family where everyone lived and breathed the sport, owning two boxing gyms in two cities, having had a pro career myself, and being a part of the boxing ciommunity for the inside, made me just a tad more qualified to know what goes on in the ring, as well as behind the scenes, then he, who's claim to wisdom was that 'more people in the forum would agree with him"
OH..well then....more people in an open forum on the internet agree with you ?...That settles that then huh ?
As for your view on my opinions...Ditto
Some of yours I agree with, some I don’t, some I just read and shake my head. In every case however, unless we are talking about a fact that can be looked up, or something that any reasonable person should take for granted, that neither makes you, or I, right or wrong. that's why they call it an "opinion"
Should my word be taken as holy speak ? Hell no, and I never said or implied that. But trust that my background does give me some insight.

If that offends you...sorry...if that amuses you, gglad I could brighten your day...
In any case, until next time, be well, and I hope this helps

I think people say this because The Prince was one of the biggest assholes ever. The fact he got defeated by a great fighter like Barrera adds to the myth.

One myth, which I'm probably going to get crap for, is that Robin Givens robbed Tyson of all of his money. Tyson's money was mostly stolen by Don King when Tyson was in jail.

No need to be so harsh on the man, Dec - he was probably thinking of that fight-ducking Joe Calzone dude as he was typing his post, and Monzon/Calzone ==> Monzone. It could happen to anyone.

(Seriously, I really dislike nitpicking people's spelling unless they repeatedly do just that to others.)

Hmm, yes, now that you mention it, Wouter, it *does* seem rather a redundant turn of phrase, akin to "A black NBA star," "A bad woman driver," "A smelly Frenchman," or "A Roman Catholic pope" ... why restate the obvious, I say. ;)

Thought of five more:

1. Mann Act was created just to get Jack Johnson.
2. The long count saved Tunney from losing to Dempsey.
3. McCallum was just as good as Hagler, Hearns and Leonard.
4. Dempsey was punched out the ring by Firpo.

Well, if you're right about this one, then both The Ring and New York Times' contemporaneous coverage of the fight were wildly in error.

On what do you base you claim that Dempsey didn't get knocked out of the ring?
