You all are posting schedule of the upcoming boxing movies here and I am adding all the names to my cart to make a list. I like boxing too much and love to watch movies based on the story of boxers. My favourite movies are Rocky Series and Cinderella Man.

A movie to look for is entitled,
MADISON SQUARE GARDEN(1932)
included in its cast are,
Jack Johnson
Sailor Tom Sharkey
Billy Papke
Tommy Ryan
Teddy Hayes
and wrestler Stanislaus Zbyszko,
and a virtual smorgasborg of indviduials connected with boxing in the early 20th century.
reportly this movie was released along with 700 other Paramount movies to television in 1958.
Anyone ever seen this movie?

Not boxing movies, but I couldn't resist alerting you all that this Saturday TCM has a great back-to-back triple-header: starting with "Bullitt," then "The French Connection," and ending with "Bonnie and Clyde." (Tomorrow morning the 1931 "The Champ" is on TCM.) Then the following Friday is another fine triple-feature: "The Graduate," "Reds" and "Chinatown." Plus lots of other great movies showing this month during TCM's "31 Days of Oscar."

I saw most of those movies at the Cinema back in the late 1960's and 1970's.
I dont know how anyone can watch movies like those on a television set so I dont.
Thats back in the day when the town's movie house was something special.
a big theatre a Big screen,comfortable seating and the screen was bright,not small and dark,gloomy and overcast looking like at a malls little
movie cublicles nowdays.All that started to change around early 1980's.
I miss the old Drive-ins too which died out around the same time in America.
If you did not ever had a chance to see a Bruce Lee movie at a Drive-in ,circa 1975,then you have never seen a Bruce Lee movie.
Or a Ray Harryhausen movie either.,or Star Wars or James Bond movie.
A lost experience.
Oh yeah and the usher would have tossed out any loud mouth clowns with idiotioc comments directed at screen.

Boxing is my favorite sport and if some boxing movies will be showing on TV. I will not miss any single show on it. This is a great time of consuming your free time.

After my father's boxing career ended, he made a few movies with some of his friends from boxing. I'll list a few notable ones.
Former 1950's Heavyweight contender,Charley Norkus, can be seen in :

"Mad Dog Cole" 1960 Telly Savalas first film; Charley was boxer in ring boxing about 3/4 ways thru film.

"Requiem for Heavyweight" At end of film, When Mountain (A. Quinn) becomes Indian Chief wrestler leaves lockerroom ; midget wrestlers are in ring. C Norkus is the referee. I believe that shot was filmed in St Nicks arena my father remembered.

"Splendor In The Grass" Beatty's first film. New Years Scene. When drunk blonde enters mens room by accident,listen for "Look out Charlie ,here she comes" my father then follows her out of bathroom with grin on his face. Then the guys which include former welterweight Billy Graham and my father take the girl out to a car to do bad things. Beatty comes looking and gets whalloped by my father. Listen for "Okay Charley he had enough" as they pull my dad away.and "Charlie, Charlie lets go" and they flee out of scene.

One more, "The Mafioso" 1961 Italian Star Alberto Sordi comes to NY to meet with mobsters in apt bldg. He knocks on door, Charley Norkus answers the door. Dubbed from english to Italian,and back to english (dont ask) my father welcomes Sordi's character and my father is the guy who turns projector on for Godfather to show Sordi the hit target he must get. Good movie-stay with it.

Madison Square Garden.
Its now on DVD.sounds like a real historical artifact.
