Hopkins was a natural 160 - as a young man - but being that he's 41 Shilstone said he should've been a super middle or a light heavy at least 4 yrs ago.
There were signs that Bernard could be light heavy, In 2001 he was massive for Keith Holmes. Hopkins came in the ring around 172. And from Tito onward he always looked too thin at middle where he was milking his title.

Same here. He's a true master of the beautiful game, his ring generalship and strategic intelligence are second to none.
However, age will also catch up with him. In fact, it already has -- 6 years ago Taylor would not have beaten Hopkins. It would be a shame to see Hopkins degenerate into a second Holyfield.
Definitely. He's a tactical genius.
It's good that Taylor beat him however. Because it has allowed him to let his middle titles go and pursue intriguing big fights at higher weights.
Everyone criticises Hopkins' opposition. But a) he showed awesome discipline to remain at 160 and make a record # of title defenses even tho he was ignored in his prime. b) his big fight roster is looking impressive...Trinidad, de la Hoya, Tarver...Winky.
What happened to all this business of Hopkins promising his dying mother he wouldn't box past 40, then it became 41...is it now 42? Flip me money talks alright, hasn't he made enough cash to just quit and uphold a promise he made to a woman on her deathbed

Still, it'll be quality technical boxing. Wright gets a big fight that he doesn't have to make weight for, Hopkins has a 2d fight where he'll look fitter and fuller, both have the same promoter for hopefully hassle free negotiations - everyone gets what they want.
