He still counts the WBU as a world title hes held, didn't he say him versus Tyszu would be 2 world champions meeting? Maybe Hatton actually believed WBU was a legit title as he still counts it as a belt hes held

Ricky also never made wild and extravagant claims about himself, he's never bad mouthed his opponents, and he is always humble when he wins. He's more humble when he wins, that Audley is in defeat.

I don't hate Audley, I've never even met the man, he might be a lovely bloke, but his public persona has been irritating in the extreme, and his career has been a shambolic farce.
Ricky fought bums for 30+ fights whiole calling himself a world champion - thats the defintion of a fraud. As is calling yourself the best in the world while avoiding top comptition and blatantly avoiding your top domestic rival while prefering the Urangos of this world. Hattons hyped himself up in his own little way and had his trainer claiming Rickys the best British fighter ever. As for bad mouthing opponent - is Audley even that bad at that and Hattons badmouthed Witter a fair bit.

At least Audley fought his top British rivals

Hatton and Audley have marketed themselves in the exact same way, Audley wasn't quite good enough to pull off the hype. Rickys pulled off the hype by avoiding the best competition but they're both hype jobs one beloved and one hated. To me there from the same cloth.
I'm sorry but thats a laughable comparison.
Exactly, it's an absolute joke.

Magee and Thaxton, two of Hatton's earlier career wins, are better than anything Audley has achieved. Thaxton is at least on sprott's level, and Magee was superior in terms of class.

Hatton's wins over Tackie, Stewart, Maussa, Urango and Tszyu absolutely annihilate anything Audley will or ever did achieve.

Hatton has never once that I can think of given it the big one before or after a fight, and as rightly pointed out, he never called himself a world champ, at least not to my knowledge, until after he beat Tszyu.

I'm sorry, but you're clutching at straws here, there's no comparison between either the public conduct or achievements of ricky Hatton and Audley Harrison, it's like comparing a set of roller skates and a ferrari.

I cannot remember him ever saying 2 world champions meeting to describe his fight with Tszyu. Sure he did say on other occasions - WBU belt and defending the WBU belt. But he never said "I am a world champion" I am making a defence of my world title.

I've seen a few who have won weird versions of the world title and claimed they are geniune world champions.... Patrick Mullings and unfortunately as much as I enjoyed watching him fight, Billy Schwer. But cannot remember Hatton doing it. Most of what he talked about during his WBU reign was fighting the real champions like Harris, Mitchell and Tszyu.

Only you could post such tripe, but congratulations on again turning another thread into a pro Witter, Anti Hatton rant.

But worse than that you should never call a boxer a bum - A boxing fan, you certainly are not.

However he dresses it up Audley is making excuses.

1. The punch was not a lucky shot, and it was not against how the fight was progressing....Sprott was beating Fr-Audley to the jab, Sprott may not have been the all out front foot fighter but his tactics were there to see...and boy were they the right ones :TU:

2. Sprott and Skelton are having a re-match because both have had good results since the last encounter.

3. Who would actually pay to see Audley against the type of opponent he would want to face next?...the only fight I`d pay to see him in against is Sam Peter  :TU:
And how does he get himself back into contention, who else is as ridiculously highly rated as Audley previously was?

He is in the who wants him camp now, he does have tallent, and early on is dangerous...especially against the less talented hype jobs...but anything near world class(even in todays game) would have too much class.

Who is promoting him now??

Your missing the point, I'm not claiming Audley is P4P as good as Hatton because he clearly is not. What I'm saying is they are both bype jobs, claiming to be the best while fighting mediocre competition. Hatton had not fought a top10 opponent prior to Tyszu and it could be argued hasn't since. They are both claiming to be something they clearly aren't but that is what the boxing business is about and most products we buy claim to be something they aren't

The fact you are rating Hattons win over the very poor journeyman Mike Joke Stewart (a man with zero notable wins) above Danny Williams shows your bias whenever Hattons name is raised

Bollocks mate, Danny has never been anything more than domestic class. He beat a faded Mike Tyson, in a career best performance, but he wasn't good enough to beat even Samil Sam. I like Danny, he's a gutsy bloke, but he was never anywhere near world class, and by the time Audley beat him, was in awful mental and physical shape......jog on.

Williams by been domestic class is a league above Mike Stewart - I'm being pedantic I know. Williams career isn't a bad 1 and if he was actually condition IMO would be world class. Wins over Tyson (faded or not), Sprott, Meehan (who was robbed against Brewster), Skeleton, Potter, Francis alongside a valiant effort against Vitali make him possibly top10 at career best. At Williams best he'd twat Sinal Sam - what did he have wrong with him shingles?

Williams is our best HW since Lennox by a long shot. I'm actually a fan of all our domestic heavys and am enjoying Skeleton, Williams, Sprott, Audley all fighting each other. Its a pity this hasn't happened in other divisions recently. Say what you want about Audley hes helped draw attention to the other 3.

Hatton admitted it was so close against Colazzo he was very relieved when he heard the result - It was a fight Graham didnt want Ricky to take - Ricky met some pretty tough opposition along the way, Magee being one of the toughest - Hatton is humble and honest and has earned everything he has achieved in boxing - The only fighter he has steered away from is Witter and that has nothing to do with Ricky having doubts about beating Witter - To compare Hatton with Harrison is just too silly for words - Hatton is world class, while Harrison is only domestic and not even the best at his level - Hatton has guts and courage and never dissapoints while Harrison has showed he hates being hurt and fears being KOd - Surely Harrison has had his chances and proved he isnt good enough, so why should he get any more - A lot of people wanted to see him out cold and its happened so why would they pay to see it happen again - Why should he follow this recent awful performance to fight the winner of Williams v Gammer or Skelton v Sprott, apart from not deserving the chance, who wants it anyway - The British HW boxing scene isnt very good at the moment and it doesnt need Harrison to make it worse - The world scene for that matter needs a class act which it hasnt had since Lewis - Only Harrison and a few idiots ever believed he could conquer the division and realise his ambitions - I think in boxing you have to know when you are no longer able to do the business and quit while you still have respect, or in Harrisons case when you find you are just not good enough for the top in your country, never mind the world - To be honest I think Haye and Mac could beat him if they came up from CW which Haye plans to do - I hope Harrison changes his mind about going on or is forced to with nobody to fight.

What on earth are you talking about. Hatton's team, and indeed himself, sells the commodity as a world class item, which undoubtedly he is. Harrison sold himself as a world class commodity, which he undoubtedly wasn't/isn't.

Hatton has won the IBF 140 title twice, the WBA 140 title, the WBA 147 title, and the British title.

Audley hasn't and won't even win a British title.

I don't see how you can compare them in any way. Hatton walks the walk yet doesn't feel the need to talk the talk. Harrison talks the talk and well he has hardly walked the walk has he?

They are not similar situations at all though - So your comparison is hugely floored, and you know it. Trouble is you've spouted some shite in your continued effort's to discredit Hatton and now don't know how to back track your way out of it.

As for the Hatton lover comments?

First and foremost I am a boxing fan and I would put my house on it that I have been to more boxing shows than you have, and ironically I'd lay the same stake that I have been to more Witter shows than you.

You're a typical armchair viewer hence the loose tongue when describing a fighter as a bum, So congratulations on labeling 'fighters' like Magee and Thaxton with that brush - Do you feel so clever now? - Because you certainly don't look it.

Comparing Audley to Ricky... oh dear.

To even remotely suggest that Ricky is as much of a fraudster as Audley is actually offensive.

So Audley has fought the best of the British game? Yeah... Danny Williams (AKA the punch bag of SSS), an aging kick boxer, and Sprott (who was only really national/maybe euro level at best). It is no secret that even the global HW game is low standard these days, so as much as Audley doesn't compare to Ricky, HW doesn't compare to LWW. You're dreaming.

Yes you are a Hatton lover because you can't take any Hatton criticism. If you examine my post history you'll find I give plenty of credit to Hatton who if you examine my posts I actually sometimes pick to beat Witter - yes shock horror. At the moment I think Witter would beat him handilly. I go back on forthon that 1 but its not like we'll ever get to see it.

I think Hattons a nice bloke but Hattons career is synically managed avoiding the best rivals and fighting meaningless fights for most of his career just like Audley. My point was thats the business.

Ohhhh and Of course you know me don't you? I could have been to 10000s of shows or I could have been to none. You have no idea but either way I would say my posts add more to the forum than yours

This point has got out of hand. I was defending Audley with the comparison. The sports about hype and its about believing your the best and about fighting fights for the most amount of money. Audleys done his best on limited talent, he was never world class but why be angry at him for making good money from limited talent? Because he dared to trash talk the great Skeleton before they squared off, how dare he  or is it because hes richer than most people here, how dare he

I think the fact that he said he could be British Champion within 5 pro fights, but still hasn't even fought for the British title after 24 fights and 7 years is the kind of thing that rankles.

I actually understand where you're coming from with Hatton: those WBU years were extremely disappointing, hearing the constant 'the next fight is the big one' Sports Network mantra was disappointing, and Hatton's choice of opponent post-Tszyu has been disappointing as well. But comparing him to Harrison in terms of conning the public was a poor choice, I feel. Hatton fought guys who weren't on his level, but he never claimed he was on his way to greatness by beating, say, Aldo Rios. Harrison made pronouncements he shouldn't have throughout his career.

I don't think Harrison ever really did believe in himself, hence his overcautious attitude. He always knew his chin would let him down at some stage.

I think that's true to a degree. Certainly against Williams first time round he was hugely over cautious. I mean even with the KD he could've won that fight if he'd maintained a decent workrate through the earlier rounds. His downfall this time was probably a case of throwing caution to the wind. He got involved with Sprott when he could've controlled the fight-- with a good workrate-- from the outside.
Harrison may be chinny, but it was plain to see he had the tools to beat Sprott. He didn't make Sprott work for the KO, he went to the inside and started swinging with his hands down. He was let down by his smarts and tactics rather than his chin.

The point was already out of hand when you tried to make the Hatton/Harrison comparison. If you want to defend Harrison, by all means do so on its own merits. He hustled good money out of his Olympic success and good on him for that. If that’s how he wants to be remembered I’d give him a slap on the back. But I’d doubt that he would appreciate it. His problem lay in the grand canyon-like gap in what he said and what he believed and in what he was able to deliver.

BTW is your referring to Skelton as Skeleton due to your Phenominal Nutrition.
