I do agree, Silkov - the weight has come off too quickly. Although I disagree about him carrying the weight well. He was a lumbering and waddling vs Klitchsko.

I do think the weight has been a huge problem and am glad that maybe Danny has seen the light (at last). However, it cannot be healthy the way he has done it (remember Ali vs Holmes). Had this fight been in June with Danny given a 5 month prep time then I would be estatic about this weight. But it smacks of desperation.

We will see though.

When I say he's carried it well I mean he's never seen to be really bloated or flabby like say a Witherspoon or Tubbs etc... he looked his worst in his last 2 bouts when he had a belly on him... but I dont think he's ever really been the same fighter since the Klitchenko fight... far less workrate and poor balance... not just down to the weight I think...
I'd love to be wrong though and see Danny win tomorrow... if he could turn in a good performance it would put him right back in the mix and he's still only 33...

I think this is merely the first step in Danny's assault on the cruiserweights. Williams-Maccarinelli in the summer, you heard it here first.......

Its not funny really, heavyweights can be weight drained... look at Ali vs Holmes or Bowe vs Golota 2... or even Greg Page when he fought Trevor Berbick...

I think the workrate and (to a lesser extent) balance issues do have an indirect link to his weight. He's just not putting in the hours on the roads, in the sparring ring and on the bag. Had he done he would not only be a much better fighter but also alot trimmer.

The drop in weight doesn't surprise me, and in my view it just shows how badly out of condition he has been for the last 12 months or more.

Whether he has anything left as a boxer has been open to debate for a while - Either way I am gonna pop a few quid on him to win.

Gammer to me does nothing special, but is a decent and solid fighter - it will be an interesting one :)

I met him that night too!

It is a big big drop in weight though. Very interesting and adds a new element to tomorrows fight I guess, makes it a little bit more fascinating...

So Danny really has shed 3st? I don't like the sound of that. If it was the case that he'd been away for a year or so, thought long and hard about his career, re-applied himself to training etc etc and THEN turned up at 16st 4lbs, you could see something good happening.

But it was only 3 months ago he was getting beaten up by a guy Michael Sprott just had a laugh with. I hope Danny proves me wrong but I'm expecting him to look sluggish and vulnerable against another average fighter.

bit of a rod for his own back tho aint it, if he is that light and spanks Gammer, then everyone will want to know why he did not get in that sort of shape long ago

Who is Danny's trainer? he kept saying it was a secret. It isn't that annoying bean eating woman off 'You Are What You Eat' is it?

Nominally, Spencer Fearon is manager and trainer. But Danny has been working out with Wayne Llewellyn with fitness and nutrition by Joe Dunbar (did the same for years for Lennox Lewis). Interesting. Only Ricky Hatton loses weight at this rate (though for Danny, proportionately, nothing like as much as the Hitman). Apparently, for the first time, Dan has a six pack.

Danny started his career weighing 227!

Note it says it five lbs lighter than he weighed for Mike Tyson, well he weighed 265 for Tyson, which would make him 261.

261 IS NOT 16 stone 4, which is 228 lbs.

Trust the BBC only 33 lbs out!
Impressive attention to detail ... the guy who was 233 was Tyson. Durrrrr. Another cock up

Thats a big drop in weight in 3 months. I thought Gammer would win now I am not so sure.

If Danny is 228 it is massive weight loss in too short a period. In this case Gammer will almost certainly KO him

Mark my words

I want Danny to win but he cant at this weight

I doubt Danny will have a sixpack... if anything he will probably look softer than usual as he is likely to have lost muscle mass with such a drastic weight loss in so short a time...

Well if Danny has feasted on protein and no carbs he is fucked

Gammer gets past three and Danny topples

I hope not

Is this on TV

Yep, it's on SKY. I've been flicking onto SKY sports news ever since hearing that Danny has done his incredible shrinking man routine, to see if they've got any footage from the weigh-in, but to no avail.

I'm stunned that Danny has shifted so much weight, but I can't help but feel that his problems recently (i.e. the second Skelton fight, and the Harrison rematch) have stemmed from him being shot, rather than him weighing too much. However, if he has, somehow, got himself back into the shape of his early days, I think he'll hammer the very average Gammer. I just think the weight loss is an illusion: Danny may well weigh less than he has done since his debut, but I think there are too many miles on the clock now, no matter what the scales say.

Is this totally confirmed yet?

It seems like madness to me, surely losing that amount of weight in such a short amount of time will affect his balance even further? For me this has come far too late into Danny's career to make a positive difference.

Maybe Dannys be doing roadwork and cutting out the excessive eating. Maybe instead of putting weights in his tracksuit hes put hydrogen balloons in there
