So what time should you have been around in the Joe? And which fighters would you been
screaming out to fight?
1950's? Ray Robinson? Jake Lamotta? Ezzard Charles? Archie Moore?
1960's? Dick Tiger? Harold Johnson? Rubin Carter? Gene Fullmer?
1970's? Carlos Monzon? Emille Griffith? Bob Foster? Nino Benvenuti?
1980's? Marvin Hagler? Michael Spinks? Tommy Hearns? Dwight Qawi?
1990's Bernard Hopkins? Roy Jones Jr? Virgil Hill? Nigel Benn? Mike McCallum?
??????
2000s - Mikkel Kessler, Anthony Mundine, Denis Inkin, Librado Andrade, Lucian Bute, Carl Froch, Clinton Woods - will do nicely!
The 90s were squandered -
his fault - Ottke, Catley, Mads Larsen -
not his fault - Hopkins, Francis, Collins, Eastman
Make the bloody 00s count.

Well said. Surely Calzaghe can't
really believe some of the things he says? The guy has bags of talent but it's all about the safe ££££'s from what I can see, fair enough, but he should at least admit it.

I do think Calzaghe has convinced himself he doesn't NEED to fight any of these people, he seems to believe himself to be on a rarified plateau far above any of the people that everyone else wants to see him fight.

I wonder whether Calzaghe is oblivious to the fans opinions sometimes, maybe he just doesn't care and it is about the money. If not surely he would have issued some sort of public ultimatum to his promoter Ricky Hatton style by now.

Calzaghe is deluded, a legend in his own mind. His 20 odd title defences have mostly been a string of inept mandatories. The Stieglitz/Berrio/Kessler farce is disgraceful. Consistently Calzaghe has dismissed fighers such as Kessler, Mundine, Froch etc for various reasons (mostly lack of "worthiness") yet has happily accommodated the likes of Pudwill, Salem, Mkrtchian etc
It wreaks of hypocrisy.

ITV could do something. Like put pressure on Warren to deliver world class opponents. When you have 1 promoter with one channel, they try to get away with anything they can.
It seems Sky weren't too pleased paying for the bilge that Warren was polluting our screens with. Nowadays they put on fights not showcases.
On ITV Warren puts on the odd great show, then leaves us shaking our heads thinking "What went wrong?" for the rest of the year!

SKY is the only place in Britain for decent Boxing now that Frank and his WBU pantomime rolled into ITV town.
