The Grand Rapids Press reported that the standing room only crowd for the Michigan Golden Gloves Finals was 2,300. I would have guessed more - 2,500+, but it was packed!!! Great turnout and the fans were awesome.

Still a good number, I can't remember a time during the finals when it wasn't packed. Sometime during the fights every year I look around at the Armory and I'm like thats alot of (bleeping) people. I think their going to have to eventually move the Golden Glove somewhere else.

There are a lot of people who won't come to the GG because of the parking difficulties and lack of adequate seating for the state championships. If nothing else, I hope they bring back the extra set of bleachers along the east wall that they used to have every year. It helped with the seating issues and I loved the birds-eye view from the bleachers.
Still, the Michigan Golden Gloves is a great tournament and is a lot of fun.

Yeah if you go to the MI GGs I recommend coming early to get a good parking spot & seat (20-30mins before start time at least). And the bleachers are definitely the best seats in the house IMO. Cheaper price, better view.

In the open division, 3 of last year's champions repeated while another 4 lost in their attempts to repeat. We had 3 other champs last year - 2 turned pro and the other one didn't enter this year's tournament.
