It's right for people to question the wonderment of moving up two divisions to fight the darkhorse of the welter division.
It seems to me that Corrales wanted the jump more than the team around him and my guess is he was tired of having to train so hard to make the weight.
I'm also guessing he thought his speed would carry him through against the fighters at welter - The trouble is, he is no Shane Mosley.
It was a big big risk and it failed - I wouldn't go as far to say he is shot though, but he is a vulnerable fighter and maybe he needs to look at 140 to re-establish.

He's stated he CANNOT make less than 142.
So Welter or catchweight it is.

The question for me isn't Corrales' sense in taking Clottey, an absolute beast who hits hard and blocks nearly everythin...The issue is why did Gary Shaw choose Clottey? It's well documented that Corrales pissed Shaw off by trying to sign with GBP. So Shaw throws him in with the lions for the mother of all beatings. I know Shaw likes to match his opponents tough but this was silly - or effing nasty. guy like Corrales - after such a career - needs protecting from himself.

Yeah, I've thought that as well, Shaw doesnt exactly come across as the most caring of souls when it comes to his fighters... I remember his slapped-bum face when Lacy was taking his beating against Calzaghe...

Yeah and his show of sympathy shouting for Lacy to be pulled out with 10 seconds to go in the 12th round! Talk about an act of showmanship at ringside. Where was he for the previous 35 minutes of that beating?
