Just when it seemed that he would be forced into retirement to enjoy the fruits of his very hard earned labours with the fam. Terrible news.

Very sad news, Chico was a throwback to the fighters of the 60s and 70s who werent afraid to fight anyone, for what its worth I think he still had a couple of decent fights left in him, dead at 29, its a terrible shame for him and his family... RIP a true warrior!...

Diego was one of my favourite fighters going back to when he flattened Manfredy in 2000.

Terrible to die so young, lets hope it was quick and painless.

Rest in peace Chico, you but excitement to hundreds of thousands of people.

RIP Chico, fantastic warrior. Hope there will be room for in in the Boxing Hall of Fame in the near future.

Absolutely shocking news.

The regard in which he was held as a true warrior was equalled only by the anticipation of his fights. And he has a fighting legacy that's on record for generations to come.

RIP Diego 'Chico' Corrales.

The only way you can do that is by fighting the best, and that is what I do. I want to know where I place. Where do I rate with these guys? Am I really one of the best fighters out there, or am I a flash in the pan? So far, I have proved that I am one of the best out there, and I am fortunate for that. I am not a flash in the pan."

I was always a Castillo boy myself and so wasn't sympathetic to Corrales' last couple of fights. Not to mention being a Casa enthusiast as well, so Chico was always a guy I rooted against.

I felt his boxing career was through. But he had a lot to live for, incl a pregnant girlfriend.

He leaves behind a legacy of some great fights - Casa 1, Castillo 1, Freitas, even the battles with St Clair, Garcia and Juuko were absolute bruisers.

Thinking about it, he bested Freitas, Casa and Castillo when they were at their most highy regarded. That should well be enough for the Hall of Fame.

A Great fighter. A true WARRIOR. First time i ever saw him fight was for the World title against Robert Garcia, and he showed every thing that he is now known and remembered for in that fight. Always thought the best out there: Garcia, Manfredy, Mayweather Casamayor 3, Castillo 2, Freitas.
For me someone who consistantly challenges and beatts the best fighters of that era is Great fighter, and Chico will always be remembered for that.

If he'd gone straight for Hatton after Castillo 1 he may have taken Ricky with his compact hooks. A 50-50 that 1 and Corrales would have been allot stronger at 140. After his lat fight I didn't really want to see him back in the ring taking punnishment past his prime

Motorcycles are so dangerous. Apparently Diego was really going at speed.

I always advise anyone who rides a motorbike to give up.....they are just killers.

Yep, I was similar. His fight with Mayweather Jr. was the first I ever tried watching on an internet stream. The picture was up-and-down but it still gave big fight excitement and was refreshing in its brashness - very similar to Diego's run since then. For that he deserves a HOF place, in my opinion, not just for the large place he held in recent time, but for the memory he has left.

Terrible waste of a life, guy was not even 30 yet, but I guess a lot of boxers are going to be risk takers and Diego was no different.

I actually think his best performance was when he beat Freitas... Popos never been the same fighter since... excellent fighter who often seemed to make his fights harder than they needed to be because he loved to go in there toe to toe... boxings most exciting fighter alongside Gatti... motorbikes are really death traps I seem to recall even the 70s/80s bike racer Barry Sheen never rode bikes on the public roads as he said it was to dangerous...

RIP Chico. We will never see a fighter trained by him, never hear him commentating a fight.... but his family have lost an important member. RIP.

I am truely shocked by this very, very sad news.

Such a warrior taken from this world so young. However he left a mark on the greatest sport in the world, as long as this sport is rememberd there will always be fans who remember you Champ.

definitely at 147.

if he couldn't make 140 then i felt he should retire.

i think he may have picked up a title at 140 with some of the names there at the moment.

he would have beaten guys like m'baye, torres and n'dou.
