How would 'they' have given Liston a 'hotshots' if they had gone in mob handed there would have been signs of a struggle on Liston body at least.
Would they have got him very drunk or spiked his drink so he feel into a deep sleep and then injected him?
Or pointed a gun at his head and forced him to do it to himself?
I go for my drunk/spiked drink theory to be the most likely.

You sure like to smear people, don't you decagon.
You know NOTHING about Liston.

And the easiest way to give someone a hot shot is if he's already injecting drugs, as Liston probably was.
Also, I don't see how Liston was any more "street smart" than Mike Tyson, and Tyson got addicted.
Wheres the evidence that Liston was taking drugs?.... he was never busted for drugs or anything like that and this was a guy who had most of the cops in America on his tail day and night... its far more likely that he turned to his old work of enforcing or something like that and roughed up the wrong people and they wiped him out... and Liston was a very different characted to Tyson....

What I heard was that Liston was killed
1--because he was known to be complaining that he was never paid in full for what he was promised for his fakes with Ali
2-because he ignored warnings to stop going into Las Vegas Casinos and betting and expecting his losses to be forgiven as they had when he was somebody.
Those were the wrong people to fool with and they sent a message by what they did to him, which they considered necessary to keep control of their area, which he was threatening by his ignoring of their warnings.
But of course everyone here is an expert on the Mob and has had lots of contact with them, and knows that can't be true.

Then he should have beaten Ali in the ring like a man, taken the winning purse and the title, and let the mob take him out as winner to be remembered in perpetuity as one of the greatest fighters who ever lived. Too bad he didn't have the intestinal fortitude. I suppose in your mind he somehow controlled the fact that Ali become the legend and all Sonny gets is to be on the cover of Sgt Pepper.
Liston was a good actor though. I like the part where he made Ali look super fast, accurate, skillfull and athletic, and then masterfully pretended to go all out to catch him when Ali was blinded. Oh and I really liked the part when he made his own face look all puffy and beaten up at the end. Just like he might have if he had actually been beaten up pretty badly during the fight. Liston was a true thespian. I wonder if he could sing? Oh and the part where his corner put the liniment on his glove to get that "edge". But why did his corner even need that? We all know he could have put him out anytime he wanted.
Oh and FYI I once spent a week traveling from Vegas to Mexico with Meyer Lansky's nephew. And I worked Flicks and Lucifers and some other clubs that if you really know your history, then you know I have rubbed shoulders with some of those nice folks you speak of. You are a simple fraud Terap.
You are however a comic genius and I do know some comedy clubs that just might book your act.

You are clueless when it comes to boxing, buzz.
But we already know that.
What is it that compels you to be a "moderator" on a site that deals with
a subject which the average 7-year-old girl has better instincts for
than you do?

Terap, you are searching for my buttons, while I pull your strings.
Collins....we are in agreement here, as I am finding "ice tea rapberry" to be extremely entertaining. I will now go back to my "neutral" bias for an extended period of time. All opinions have a place, and the more unusual and exotic the opinion is, the more it is a moderators job to nurture it. If for no other reason that it might be seen by other horticulturalists who may have had the false impression that certain forms of abberant opinionists were perhaps extinct.
Terap's petty emotional outbursts of anger and frustration, and willingness to exhibit his cantankerous curmdudgeonary aspects, far outweigh the the value of his boxing knowledge (or should I say lack thereof in some cases) here on this forum. And quite frankly it should be for others and not me to offer counter opinions or "cross talk" to his absurdities. So much to granberry's delight I will withdraw from this comedy sketch for the forseeable future. I look forward to other recurring characters authored by this writer as time goes by. My guess is the next incarnation of terap will be that of the 7 year old girl boxing expert which he has mentioned he is currently formulating.

I'm just referring to the fact that terap and granberry have some ideas, writing styles, location and general eccentricities in common. Nothing more than that.

I see. Some years ago here someone started an anagram thread using 'terap' . Now you got me wondering how many anagrams or part anagrams I can make from 'granberry'
