..thanks deco....i thought it was a short time after the fusari fight, but wasn't sure, nor did i remember it was THAT short of a time..

There was a British fighter who peaked at around 16, or 17 and who was pretty much done at 19. I cannot recall his name off the top of my head, but he turned pro at around 11, or 12 years of age...I believe! He was a very good fighter who should have been a champion had he been handled correctly and taken along a lot slower. He did very well against quality fighters while only 14 and 15 years of age, which led me to think that he could have been an all-time great had his career been nurtured and guided in a proper nature!


Terry McGovern was the best fighter p4p by age 19 and he dropped several levels at age 21, though he did continue on with great success until he retired, but he would suffer a number of mental breakdowns and ended up dying at 37! McGovern was certainly a tragic figure!

Isn't Rubin the only fighter to be given a honorary World title when he came out of prison after being wrongly convicted?

..if the "carter wrongly convicted" concept isn't on the "exposing the myths" already, it should be.

..that, along with the idea that he was somehow the uncrowned middleweight champion and his prison term came when he was the top contender and on the way to another title fight.

Liston was not garbage! He was pretty darn good as a matter of fact.....he just wasn't quite as good as Clay on those two fateful events.

As for Liston, did he ever retire? If not, he could also be on this list, even though he really didn't have much left.

From memory Kirkland Laing was still fighting well into his 30s, so his career wasnt really cut short, although yes he has had his share of problems
