Predictably Cunningham has said he wont be ready for next month, did Warren really think he would be?
Great opponent for Enzo from his promoters view point: big title and not much of a puncher by all accounts.
Braithwaite would be a great fight, but why would Frank put his boy in with a fighter who would have a good chance of splattering him?

Braithwaite's on the downside of his career after being trounced by Mormeck back in '05. Not sure if he's even had another fight.

Warren and King alledgedly in talks over a Braithwaite fight. Let's just pray it happens. If we get Calloway or a South American with a china chin I may well denounce boxing and take up bowls.

King famously has trouble giving his fighters the # of fights agreed in the contract. Braithwaite hasn't fought in a long time. Big Truck will get the date. Decent fight to ease Enzo into his title.

Carnt see Enzo v Braithwaite myself
Warren generally does not bring over top Americans these days, For a start they always want big money and are big risks to his fighter.
Cantatore would be much cheaper, less dangerous and importantly also deemed competitive by Joe public.

Yeah but he's never had any luck getting Cantatore over here before, plus he's fighting Gurov at the end of the month for the Euro. Braithwaite sounds quite likely to me

Point taken about cantatore, he was just an example really.......
Braithwaite might talk tough and say he wants too come over, but and its a big but, what money will he be asking??? quite a bit I would imagine

being an inactive cruiser with no title, braithwaite could be one of warren's 'peanut imports'.

Nah Braithwaite thinks he's a big name

Being a King fighter, Braithwaite will be used to lousy paydays.
In fact, Frank will probably have to pay King more than Wayne.
And it's true, Braithwaite looks like he might be on the serious downside - recently knocked out by an ex light middle, so if Enzo is half as good as he's meant to be, then he should take out Wayne in style.
Sounds like a good bet for next month in that case. At least SN wont be bringing over another hillbilly good ol boy for Enzo...until next time that is.

Then he's still going to have to pay big to get him over then isnt he???

It could happen, just like Calzaghe-Kessler could happen.
Cannot really blame people for being just a little sceptical about Sports Network now can you??

big name who couldn't win any more than a couple of rds against mormeck, before getting battered by guillermo jones in a 4 rd thriller, whose career has well and truly gone off the boil as he lapses into obscurity

you certainly can't blame anyone for not believing Sports Network. I believe Frank is in a mad rush to deliver something credible enough to temp some TV contract.
I just hope whoever picks him up doesn't let him mess things up. I have long believed that Warren had a say in Sky's US coverage - the only fighters we ever saw were ones relevent to Hatton (Cotto & Tszyu), Harrison (Barrera, Pac etc) and Calzage (Lacy) which had its severe limitations.
Would be interesting if Setanta worked something out for him. There'd be no exclusive because of the 6-fight Fight Academy deal.

Didn't Cunningham let himself down In the 1st fight against the Pole?
Cunningham was a lot slicker IMO and the pole was trudging forward banking on a big punch, i thought the yank was a decent winner for my money, 116-112.

Cinnigham won the fight easy, it was a disgraceful decision.

I don't think he did. He was flat out shit with flailing combos. What good is a decent workrate if you squander it with amateur cuffs? Wlod was very limited but with Cunningham's help they managed to look like a pair of fringe contenders. Typical IBF title fight, almost. Real champ gets stripped. Two lesser gusy duke it out.
Maybe Cunningham was really good 2nd time. He was good against Rothmann and Kelvin Davis. I hear he was lucky as hell to beat Guillermo Jones, however.

Jones could very well be the best in the devision, yes Cunnigham was lucky as anything - but his wins over Davis and Rothman were good and I would give him a chance vs Mormeck/O Neil Bell - neither of whom are perfect themselves.

Jones is weird. Really talented but very poor stamina. Lost his big chance when he pulled out of the Showtime rematch with Cunningham. If Haye wasn't so weight drained he could be a class above some of these guys. The division needs another Holyfield or Juan Carlos Gomez. Maybe we'll have to wait for Chad Dawson to perhaps move up. At 6' 3" and with his speed, maybe he could do it.
Enzo could be the right specimen to wreak some havoc in a dangerous, exciting but raw division. If he can KO Braithwaite and if Frank makes credible matches, ppl may start believing in him.
I wonder how different it'd have been if Johnny Nelson had turned up? Enzo would have earned major props by finishing Nelson off.
Interestingly, Tomasz Adamek moves up to cruiser tomorrow. Polish card televised stateside.

One suspects that Adamek vs Wlodwhathisname will be a certain IBF title eliminator in the near future at the weight. Ademek made a great impression stateside with his wars with Briggs, so I think him in the title picture at the weight could draw some attention.
Also Jirov is back at the weight, not sure what is left with him - but he could create some interest.

Jirov is probably gonna drop down again as well, he'll be a factor unless the effects of all those punches he took at heavyweight have taken it out of him.
