Nah you were right, Warren originally offered the fight to Kessler for July in UK, but Palle wanted September, that's the date that was reported on Fightnews, BBC and Boxingtalk. Now Warren/Calzaghe has accepted the offer to fight Kessler not only in September, but in Denmark too. Palle wanting November is a joke.

Right Ok, good, well bollocks to whoever said I was wrong then.
I revert to my former comment then, Palle is talking out of his rectum.
Either he doesn't really want the fight for Kessler, or he wants to offer less money, or options, or neither of them want the fight, and this is all just a big case of sabre rattling.
Either way, I wish I could just hibernate and wake up to find the fight starting on TV.

Yes it does get annoying, I wish they'd just sort it out but to be fair to Palle, apparently he's in hospital right now so we'll have to wait for his official response. Remember the open letter Palle made public back a few weeks ago? There's no getting away from that last bit..

Yes, for those critics of fwarren's, this does rather reflect that NOBODY in boxing has a monopoly on talking bollocks.

hold your horses. Warren was in a scramble to make something for July yet Joe's hand was fvcked and no one believed a July date would happen. Then they called out Taylor and went to Arkansas - Palle ignored them as he should have.
Let's clarify.
When the next round started, i.e. after Joe vs Taylor came to nothing, Warren wanted September and Palle wanted November because of the anniversary thing.
There were two seperate stages of negotiations, bisected by the pursuit of Taylor.
Right Ok, good, well bollocks to whoever said I was wrong then.

i think fried bread is right. though they are all being bloody difficult and are hurting boxing, Palle was stiffed by Warren who ignored them for Taylor on MAY 19.

I have major doubts as to whether the fight will ever happen. Camps are arguing over the date of the fight! For smeg sake, just go into training & then get the fight on. Why something such trivial as this?
I for one reckon Warren will have options on Kessler or something similar if the fight does take place. Warren acts as if they're offering fights to lods of contenders, and that it's them & their management who are hard to deal with etc.
Funny, how Warren acts like it's never his fault?

I've spoken directly to Mogens Palle's promotional company 'teamPalle' and the shit they are coming out with is pitiful.
They are claiming that the offer for Joe Calzaghe to fight Mikkel Kessler in Denmark was only for November....and not September atall.
However they also claim that Kessler would be quite happy to travel to Britian to fight Calzaghe in September, October, November or even December!...........So Kessler won't fight in September with home advantage but he'll happily fight the same month on foreign soil?!?! What a load of rubbish!!! And having claimed that Palle was never interested in a September fight in Denmark....why then does this letter sent from Palle's own office totally contradict that? Read the very bottom of the letter!
http://www.BS.com/forums/showt ... p?t=116887
Truth is Palle never intended at any point to actually let Kessler face Calzaghe in a ring. They just used the Calzaghe name to raise the profile of Kessler and it was all going so well....until Calzaghe and Warren called their bluff!!

It does sound strange that Palle would issue an ultimatum to Calzaghe to fight Kessler in September and then decide that the fight can only take place in November. For pities sake, what's wrong with September. Just get the fight on. It seems as though Palle are losing their confidence in Kessler's ability to beat Calzaghe and are not being nearly as flexible as you would have thought that they would have been be a year ago.
It's patently clear that neither guy is a true warrior, willing to fight the best anywhere. I thought for a moment that Kessler would be willing to back up all the talk about fighting Calzaghe anytime, anywhere but he's just as bad as Calzaghe is. Bloody prima donnas.

The thing that doesn't add up is Kessler as been willing to face challengers while Calzaghe has constantly avoided tough or semi-tough fights. Joe had to be dragged in the ring to fight Lacy.
This issue is money and I don't think Palle can afford it. Can Palm Promotions help him out?
Kessler takes on a real rough handful in Andrade and shuts him out...The WBO tell Joe to defend against Inkin or vacate and then something happens to make the WBO do an about turn and hold off Inkin...
Well, I wish Joe luck in retirement. He can say they all ducked him but he never once faced an elite opponent.

I thought Palle did suggest September at first because of the summer holidays thinking people won't be watching the fight In Denmark?
I know November Is his 50th anniversry as a promoter but he Is an old man and shouldn't wait since he's been hospitalised.

Yep, Palle has been stating September since Joe fought Manfredo, when Warren wanted th fight in July. Even the letter above states September. Silly if he now starts to put the date back to November. Palle made the offer and Joe has accepted. Kessler will have home advantage, he should take it and look to unify.

2 months isnt much of a problem really, only if you want it to be.
2 months of extra preperation, joe has hardly been the most active fighter anyway, 2 months is feck all, shut up and make the fight...........

there's been a few overreactions on here. we have to consider they haggled before Taylor-Spinks and after. before, Palle said something about $5m to come to Denmark and Warren matched it. Warren talked of July, Palle talked of Sept. Then Warren lowered the offer and pursued Jermain Taylor, disrespecting Palle by going to America. Want proof? Why was Calzaghe on Friday Night Fights and who did he call out specifically...
AFTER MAY 19, Cal-Taylor is dead so they start again with Kessler. Warren goes for September, Palle goes for November (his anniversary). Remember, they are starting all over again.
I wouldn't hold November against Palle if Calzaghe himself says November is good.

Calzaghe speaking in the Guardian:
"Of course I would be prepared to wait until November for Kessler," Calzaghe said last night. "I want to face him because people recognise that he is the other best super-middleweight in the world. I know he's a very, very good fighter. But I also know 100% that I would beat him, regardless of whether the fight happens in Denmark, Wales or the United States."

It's alright guys, Calzaghe KNOWS he would beat Kessler so there's no point staging the fight.

Why are Sports Network making such a big deal over a couple of months? Calzaghe hasn't fought more than twice in a year in a long long time. GET IT MADE!

The Unification VM-fight between the world's two strongest super-middleweights, WBA & WBC World champion Mikkel Kessler and WBO World Champion Joe Calzaghe, is denser than ever on being able to become reality, after Team Palle last weekend re-confirmed its original financial offer for Calzaghe-promoter allegedly and also accepted to comply with additional Warren-demands to a coming World Championship contract. "When allegedly last week stood forward in the press and reported that he had accepted our "original proposal", and that Calzaghe was now When allegedly last week in the press and finally prepared to come to Copenhagen and challenge Mikkel Kessler to the autumn additional challenges to us. Last Sunday our American lawyer Mike Marley could nevertheless anyhow tell allegedly that Team Palle had decided to oblige him also on the new demands, and that we thus now look at the last obstacles cleared of Last Sunday our American lawyer Mike Marley could out of the way that the fight that most of the safe-deposit box world wishes to see, finally can come in the circle till November in Copenhagen "As Team Palle has now complied with all Frank Warrens' demands to this unique Unification VM-title match in super-middleweight, now only one only thing can trip it: If allegedly and Joe Calzaghe still had to get cold feet and to back out of campem. The decision is in other words now entirely Frank Warrens. We can only wait for his final acceptance on that the World Championship contract can be written down, and the large VM-event can be declared "on". If Warren and Calzaghe in the last resort still should try to draw in its the horns and talk himself out of the fight, they'll invariably turn into laughs everywhere in the safe-deposit box world." Mogens Palle adds that only a complete acceptance of Team Palle's corresponding demand in this case yet will be able to move the Unification VM-bang Kessler-Calzaghe from Copenhagen to a British arena.
I hate translators, Palle needs an English version of his site too.
