At the end of the day its an issue. If your truly okay with it then you won't have a problem with people discussing it.
I think its an intersting topic personally. In the modern day in certain countries homosexuality has gone from social pariah status to being the thing to do over the last 20 years.
Boxing is a working class man's sport and has never much concerned itself with liefstyle fashions etc so its interesting to me that the two have become mixed here purely as a matter of trivia.
Emille being gay came as news to me also though my father says it was a well known fact since his bout with Paret.
For years there were rumours surrounding Lennox Lewis but they appear to be unfounded.
Its interesting to hear that other fighters have also come under suspicion. Certainly it is unusual. Boxing is one of those sports you just automatically assume is alligned with hetrosexuality exclusively so any isntances of exceptions to the rule are always going to attract interest and curiosity. So discuss away.

Chocolate wasn't gay. He was supreme playboy.

Griffith is openly gay and for many years it has been said that Panama Al Brown was gay. I have also heard mentioned -whether true or not- that Phil Terranova and Lou Nova were also gay.

Once again I know having AIDS doesn't mean you are gay but I understand that a huge percentage of men with AIDS in this country contracted it through homosexual contact.

True but indeed a man getting HIV after vaginal unprotected sex with a women is extremely rare unless the female has suffered lacerations or open wounds in that particular area. Most sexually transmitted cases take place after anal unprotected sexual intercourse, whether with a male or a female.
The reason is obvious. The lack of lubrication often leads to blood vessels on the tissue surface of the anus and penis being ruptured and then you have the exchange of bodily fluids etc and bobs your uncle.
Either Tommy was just one of the few who did get it from a straight sex or he engaged in anal sex with a female partner or used needles to shoot up.
But I have never heard any suggestion he got it from a male partner.
Does anyone know if it has finally been confirmed if he is HIV positive or not? Last I heard it was a cert he was. :(

Although anal sex is thought to make transmission of the HIV virus easier for reasons previously mentioned, the unbelievable levels of promiscuity in the gay community is certainly the real culprit. I believe that Randy Schiltz, who died of AIDS himself wrote in his book, The Band Played On that the members of the gay bath house community in San Franciso were averaging 50 different sexual partners per year. I did a paper on gay male sexual patterns when I was working on my masters and even gay males who considered themselves in committed relationships were averaging 8 partners per year. That was just one study (in Holland) of course, but I flat out could not find ANY legitimate study in ANY referreed journal that did not find gay males as a group to be extraordinarily promiscous. A majority of studies showed gay males averaging 10 to 20 partners per year. If you are promiscous sexually and you have sex with other people who are equally or even more so you are going to catch something. Gay males also have higher rates of other sexually transmitted diseases like gonnorhea. What made this so deadly is that someone can be infected for years with the HIV virus without showing signs. So many of the victims of AIDS in the early to mid 80's had been infected years before. So you have a population (gay males) who were infected and had been spreading their infection for years before anyone knew there was such a thing as AIDS. Regarding a previous question Tommy Morrison is indeed HIV positive and has not revealed the source of his infection that I know of.
