At this stage of his career the FACT is he has only ever won a BS 2nd rate title...Now thats the FACT
Technically, it is a world title. He has the tag as CURRENT WBA SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION.
What tag does Danny Green have?

I never said anything about Green and I also picked Mundine to beat Green. You summed it up when you said Mundine has the "tag as current WBA Super Middleweight Champion" He has a tag and thats about it.
I hope one day he fights the real champ and if he wins then he will be a real champ and not a 2nd rate pretend one. I think this will happen one day but for now he and you have to be happy with him only being 2nd best in the WBA

You try telling Calzaghe that. He has just recently come out and said he doesn't want to fight Mundine, but rather move up to LH.

Before anybody gets carried away about Anthony winning two world titles, it should be remembered that Tony fought the undisputed Middleweight champ, Carlos Monzon, who was unbeaten for the 13 years he fought after he turned 22, and that the undisputed Light Heavy champ was Bob Foster, who scared the crap out of most heavyweights. This was all before the Alphabet Wars. there was the WBA and the WBC, and most of the time they recognised the same champ.
That said, Tony did have problems against big hitters. I would have loved to have seen him fight my old gym mate Charkey Ramon, but Mundine's people would not be in it.

G'day Brute just want to be the first to offically welcome you. You seem to be very knowledgeable and always good to have another opinion. I will dis agree with you at some stage so I look forward to some good discussion with you.
Tony was also doing very well against Monzon and I don't know if it's true or not but my brother in laws father told me that Tony threw the fight, because after a winning the first couple of rounds they realised that if they won they were going to be killed

I would never have accused old Tony of throwing a fight. He had too much pride for that. Monzon was just too good for him.
Not that that was any disgrace. Monzon was just about the best middleweight ever.

Many years later Monzon acknowledged that Tony had hit him with a punch that was as hard as any that he had taken.
Tony put up a brave effort against Monzon, whom was pound for pound one of the best fighters of that era.

No way did Tony throw that fight, He was boxing well in the early rounds but Monzon was just more experienced and tough as nails, The punch that KOd Tony was as good a punch as ive seen and there was no chance of recovering.

At last, someone who's heard of Charkey

I'm no expert n him as I was very young when he was around
I have a 'best of tv ringside' dvd in which Dave features. There's a couple of his fights in there and also an unscheduled one where 10 years after retiring he turned up as a ref in a local fight. An all-in ensued after some shenanigans and one of the seconds went for Dave. So of course he defended himself. He threw a massive right to the body and the guy then decided he wasn't interested
Dave was a country boy and a pretty laid back type from what I know. Any idea why he retired, what he did afterwards and what he's up to now??? A fight with Tony was mooted at the time but as you say it never happened. Would have been a great fight

Charkey was a great fighter with so much potential. I watched him win a Commonwealth Title against a Canadian and Charkey gave him a boxing lesson.
I believe he had a falling out with his trainer: Bernie Hall and later worked as a minder for John Singleton.
He was one tough hombre!
