He's just beaten Jose Luis Castillo and you're going on about Witter like he's the second coming!! Who's he beaten?
Hatton would walk through him.
Exactumundo..... I don't want to knock Witter but more his fans. What has Witter done, people are laughing at my suggestion that Gatti vs Hatton would be a decent(ish) fight.... Well it will be a cracking fight, but laughing at my suggestion that it could be competitive.
The same people are saying that Witter is a strong 140 and better than Gatti.... based on what? Close fights with Ndou and Kotelnik - neither of whom have proven where they lie in the top ten? A struggle with Colin Lynes?
Lets see Witter fight someone as proven as a Gatti before making judgements.... at least he is proven. Witter is proven to a degree, but struggles with Kotelnik and Ndou doesn't prove he is better than even this faded Gatti. Kotelnik and Ndou are as bout as proven as Thomas Dammgaard.
Oh yeah, Kotlenik has ran Mbaye close twice (draw and split decision loss)... but then what as Mbaye trully done himself. I would favour Colin Lynes over Carlos Maussa, does that mean that Lynes is proven as world class - nope.
What has Witter done? what has Witter done???....look at his record and see for yourself!... are you saying that Witter as WBC champ is a poorer fight than Collazo or Urango??.... thats laughable!... people have been asking for Witter vs Hatton for years now and the truth is if Hatton had a real fighters balls he wouldnt be acting like a frigid bride and he'd be asking to fight Witter to show that he;s the best... as for Gatti, the guy already has a slur in his speech, how many times do you need to see him get battered before you twig that he's had enough??
Looked at his record... your point is?
I aint mentioned Collazo or Urango. I was fecking disgusted at the Urango fight. Collazo was a testing waters fight that nearly went horribly wrong - that was fair enough. Maussa was a fight that he needed to secure before the other champions relieved Maussa from the title - that was fair enough. Urango was a backward step and I was cheesed off with it.
However, Castillo was MUCH more deserving a shot than Witter and from there we should be moving onward and upward. Thats Cotto/Mosley/Mayweather etc. Whats Witter done to even suggest he is in that category? Nowt, just moan about Hatton... Focus on your career mate - Ricky is getting on with his nicely, just fought one of the finest fighters of this millenium. If you think a shot Corley (more shot than Gatti IMO) and always limited Ndou, scraping past a decent but unheralded Kotelnik, beating Morua and Colin Lynes is proof that Witter is among the elite - then I think your mistaken.
Give me someone whose career best win is too shut out Lovemore Ndou (not struggle) any day.
Do I think Gatti is more proven than Witter, yes..., do I think Gatti would beat Witter..... on current form... YES.
