i know it doesnt matter but the fights that got called off(not that many actually)were not down to me.i had afew ppl pull out probably down to the fact they didnt know if i excisted

others were down to the board.
ive only had my lisence back for 3 week so unless i get into some sort of hold up on the way down then im fighting in manchester tommorow.....

oh by the way,i didnt ask to fight dan guthrie or said i had any great distinguished am career.

I never said you claimed you were a great amateur - I just said you apparently had an EXTENSIVE amateur career.

A 40 fight - 32 wins amateur record, including a Silver in the Scottish ABF a few regional titles and a district title - show your no mug.

Hello Mick,
you know 'outside' of the city centre it's self (Glasgow), there is NO greater place in Scotland for 'hardmen' than Coatbridge.

Some of Scotland's finest & hardest fighters came from there and even Buchanan lived there for a few years and was put right by the "local lads" on more than one occasion. Big Bert's boy's and grand children live there and of course as "a boy quoted" in Coatbridge I don't have to tell you about the Rea lads/family...serve them all well Mick, you know better than any who the 'hardest' man, men in Scotland are/were, in fact I think your related on to them, No?

Going off the topic, but it was mentioned MTG could be related to some of Scotland's hardest mans.

Can I make the claim to be closely related to one of Wales' hardest men.

Yeah, that true unfortunately.

Godoy vs Garnon in an UFC style affair would have been a cracker.

Not my Grandad, I aint that old. He's my Gran's older brother.

Hard is not the word - in his 50's he survived being run over by a bus.

Prior to that accident when ever there was local trouble the police would phone him up.

Went to America to fight the best in the world - remember this is not WWE - no scripted results here. Apparently the World champion ducked him and ducked him. He was the European champion at the time. He was sending money home, and he was earning a bob - he came home to an empty house (his wife had screwed him).

In the end he was broke and had to be a general dogs body for a building firm. Even after the accident where he could only walk in a shuffle. Seemed happy enough, but a tragic end to a great man.

BTW one of a training methods..... Stand on a chair on concrete and fall on your back.

Back to the wrestling johnny rollerball roco who fights at light welterweight out of bob shannons gym in manchester is the son of the famous wrestler rollerball rocco and granson of jumping jim hussey who i believe was also extremley famous and wrestled with some retired ex american pro boxers in the late50's/60's

The almost legendary Martin (M.T.) Gillick lasted just 76 seconds in his eagerly awaited debut tonight in Manchester against fellow debutant Mike Jenno from Liverpool.

Gillick was down three times in the first round, twice from shots to the body, before the referee stopped the contest according to BBN's ringside reporter Terry Dooley, who will report fully on the fight and the rest of the card tomorrow.

Martin turned up on his own no cornerman (i had to get him a cornerman and someone to wrap his hands)
He weighed in saw the doctor and just went and sat and waited for his fight time.
Martin wasnt in great shape (hes more of a small middle big lightmiddle realy)
He was fighting what looks to be a decent fighter in liverpools Mike Jenno.
Martin came out not in good shape without his trainer and he gave it a go,he threw his right hand he went straight forward,but his opponent quite shrewdly went for his belly.
He got dropped got up and carried on fighting he got dropped got up and carried on fighting he got dropped again and got up again and was ready to try again but the ref rightly stopped it.
He came here under trying circumstances and went in as a fighter and came out as a fighter.
I hope he can spend a bit more time on his conditioning get down a weight class and get a win he deserves it for the balls he showed going thru with it on the night.

i appreciatte it m8.
i could probablly be a solid fit middle but i decided to start off at sup middle and see how i am,dont know how strong i would be at middle.

hopefully with your help

,i can get a rematch and ill match his weight of 11st 11lb this time.

give me 4-5 weeks(suspended as you know) and ill be properly prepared for another bout.i appreciated the few words you and len gave me afterwards and i will be giving it another go and i may poss take you up on your offer to come down for sparring.
