All I've ever envisaged is a one-sided win for Floyd Mayweather.

I really don't believe Mayweather will be impressed by the punching style or power of Hatton. Shots landed on target by Hatton would be minimal, I don't see any area where he holds an advantage.

I think there is a tendancy by many to think that no fighter can match Hatton's fitness because we've watched him for years beating opponents up and breaking their hearts, but really, Floyd Mayweather is so fit it's scary. Fit enough to counter with energy sapping combinations off the ropes, fit enough to change direction quickly against his own momentum whenever required to, fit enough to never lose his form and go ragged, and fit enough to outlast a much bigger and stronger fighter that Hatton.

You could say that neither fighter has faced anyone quite like the other, but for me this represents a far far greater task for the Hitman. An impossible task I'd say unless Mayweather breaks a hand.

Hatton is not Oscar. What people seem to forget is Oscar has a very defense and blocked a whole lot of Floyd's punches. Hatton blocks punches with his face and he doesn't have the same size, speed, power or defense as Oscar.

It's not out of the question that Hatton could win, but it's a whole lot more likely that he'd lose. The only way I'd see him winning is if he mauled Mayweather and Floyd didn't do enough to move away from him. That however is unlikely considering Floyd has a history of moving away from pressure fighters. Hatton would just have an insanely tough time landing clean punches and I can't picture him putting Floyd under enough sustained pressure to make the decision go his way.
LOL. and Oscar isn't Hatton. DLH - an ageing fighter - seldom fought a solid 12 rds in his life and isn't a good come forward fighter.

Hatton's whole game is energy and cutting off the ring, closing the distance fast. I think there is this complacent assumption that Floyd can just turn his shoulder inward, throw a love tap and then sidestep (then repeat for each round) to win.

Floyd is becoming less slippery as he moves up in weight. He's been around a long time and isn't the quicksilver he once was. How will he looks when he fights someone younger, who's one of the best p4p in the world?
The problem would be that Hatton would of couse lack the height and reach, and would get tagged on the way in most likely.
this doesn't seem to be a huge issue with Hatton. Because he has fast feet and always gets his feet in position before he punches. I don't thik Mayweather's fought a pressure fighter with his attributes and see a hard night for Floyd.
Your right, Oscar isn't Hatton, he's better. Mayweather had a lot more to worry about against Oscar than he would against Hatton. Hatton has a better work rate than Oscar and that's about it. Work rate alone is not going to get the job done.

Anyway people can bang on all day about who would win, but Hatton himself can't be all that confident, because if he was the fight would have been made already. Mayweather has been guilty of taking the easy road over the last 5 years, but a fight with Hatton is one he hasn't walked away from. Hatton could of had the fight in November when Floyd fought Baldomir, but he wanted 13 million and he admitted as much. There have been other times he's declined the fight as well. Anyone who's kept up with this ongoing saga knows Team Hatton hasn't wanted the fight.

I bet he doesn't fight Floyd in his next fight either. Hatton is always dropping Floyd's name, but that's all he does. It's quite likely he'll end up fighting Malignaggi next.

Hatton will take the Mayweather fight when he's loaded up his bank account some more and doesn't need to worry about losing as much. Actions speak louder than words and Hatton's nice guy image only hides the fact that he's avoided Mayweather from his blind followers.

It's unlikely to me that the mayweather bout would be this year. There will be far too much in the way of contract negotiations to be dealt with for it to happen in the next three months, and October - December are not traditionally when massive bouts like this are held. Ideally they would have wanted a summer date I think.

I don't see it happening before next late spring - summer , and hopefully, Hatton takes on someone like Malignaggi at the Garden, or even better, at Wembley or the 02 arena, or how about the new Millenium Dome venue, I think they are going to have a big arena in there.

Mayweather wants it in Autumn, his advisor has said they want to have a deal done by the end of the week. They said Hatton would look for any excuse not to make the fight

There's no chance a deal can be done by the end of the week, surely? If Mayweather comes out on Monday and says "we couldn't get a deal done, I told you Hatton is a pussy", then all this talk has been bullshit.

Why can't there be a deal that fast? Theres hardly that much to work out - purse splits(60-40), weight (147), place (MGM). It seems Mayweather wants to fight October/November and they want another big name opponent whether its Oscar/Hatton/Mosley - Trinidad won't be ready until 2008

If you or I were doing the deal, yes it could be done this week. But this is boxing. How many deals get put together in the space of a few days?

Oscar was having success working behind the jab controlling Floyd's speed. When that stopped, Oscar stopped winning rounds.

The one punch that Ricky doesn't throw with any consistency is the jab. He threw 19 against Castillo, and just over 100 against Urango.

Castillo threw allot of jabs against Mayweather too
