One of the more disturbing things about Khans Great Escape was his obvious lack of stamina, he looked knackered halfway through the bout and was punching himself out in desperation before the stoppage ended it :box:
Khan is going to get a fair bit heavier very soon and i fear anyone matching his weight with a half decent bang will turn thisImageinto thisImage :roll: :roll: :roll:

Khan's chin ain't so good but he didn't get put out cold by a light hitter like Harrison did and at least won when he stepped up.

I think Oliver Harrison summed up Khans performance when he told him he was "trying to hard", he was lunging in looking for the KO and he was leaving himself wide open when doing so. After Khan was knocked down he got back to his boxing, he picked his shots alot better and was getting tagged alot less.

Khan needs to tighten up his defence and not take so many chances early on, his handspeed is phenomenal and he should be using to greater effect by boxing at distance rather than getting involved in a tear-up. Khan managed to learn a fantastic lesson on Saturday without ultimately getting beat, in time we may look back on the Limond fight as we (I) do with Hayes fight with Carl Thompson, providing Khan has learnt some valuable lessons (as I'm sure he has as Oliver Harrison will no doubt be ramming them down his throat)
Good points. Plenty of fighters have had near disasterous (or even disasterous) setbacks and comeback much better. Haye, Alex Arthur, Ricky Hatton vs Magee... They are dubbed learning fights for a reason.

I actually thought that for the first 2 rounds Khan looked excellent... composed, a tight guard and had the right concentration levels. It just seemed to unravel from there. They say that when you start to tire you go back to your natural fighting style and instinct and I wasn't particularly impressed with his stamina.

But he can improve from this.

I agree with Coffee Aroma, I thought Amir was tiring fast in round 5 and then it all went pear shaped for him in the sixth.

He certainly found his second wind though and leathered Limond after that. Maybe Amir burned up a lot of nervous energy? I think so.

It's a shame my fellow Scot didn't get the win - but never mind, he gave a far better account of himself than many had anticipated...

I feel Khan is vastly over-rated and that will come to-pass in due time... Thaxton is just one man of many in the lightweight division that can end the circus...

Other than that - a cracking fight!

i thought amir looked a touch flabby. this in my view contributed to his running out of steam around 5 - but he gave limond a few chances to deck him before this point, so stamina was not his whole problem.
