Rees looks like a jellybaby.

Koletnik gets first shot....

I think this will put Rees into perspective, if he wins then we have a bona fide world title holder, if not, well hey, he held a world belt...

Good on you Gavin

He's a super jelly baby though.

Think he does need to change his nickname... John Rawling called him "Little" Gavin Rees at least 20 times in the fight. Surely more apt than "the Rock".

I was calling him "The Marsh Mallow Man".

Marsh Mellow?

Was It because he wasn't dry and ripped like most fighters?

Pretty much.

He'd be dry if he was a Super Feather... He should make 9 stone 9 comfortably. He is smaller than Naz and hasn't got his tree trunk legs.

Barry McGuigan said it at the start - that he hasn't shown the desire needed in training to make Lightweight. There seemed to be some self doubts about his stamina when he said to Rawling "I'm the best 6 round fighter in the world"... a similar quote was said by Butterbean.

Fantastic effort tonight, I'm not going to fault it... but he should be a Lightweight.

I think Rees has a simular physique to Pryce, not ripped but good and In shape.

Guess It can help with body shots when the softness absorbs a little of the shot maybe.

Rees is clearly a strong guy, but it would remarkable if he pulled this one off. M'baye can be hit and hurt, but even if Rees can catch him, he's lacking the tools and experience to capatalise.

M'Baye's as safe bet (famous last words :) )
ha ha, unluck Butch, lol.

Well done Gavin, knew you would do it

That was a bizzare fight. Mbaye just stood in range without throwing shots and allowed Rees to completely dictate the action.
He never seemed to alter his half assed plan of trying to catch Rees coming in and telegraphed the right hand.

Well done Rees :TU:

M'Baye should be utterly ashamed of himself!
He was awful.
No motivation at all.

Taking nothing away from Rees, but M'Baye should have his purse witheld.

:box: it looked to me as if the champion had been paid to make gavin look good after all he is warren boy lets see if gav defends the title or just hang on to it untill khan goes for it in about 7 months time to make khan youngest world champion it looks very fishy to me and most of the viewing public

Sadly, it looks like a damn fix to me.

Rees did his bit and well done to him BUT Mbaye was having as laugh.

Rees Vs Khan is the fight, no way would Khan ave beaten Mbaye BUT he can beat Rees.

Or

Hatton Vs Khan on A Sports Networks/FattyBoy Promotion anyone?

Rees Vs WITTER if Witter beats Harris.

Dodgy result.

Hatton-Rees on the Millenium stadium promotion if Hatton doesn't get PBF or Malligiani (spelling) in the US in November?

I like the Khan theory though, I often thought Barry Jones was being kept as WBO Super-Feather champ for Hamed to move up and take it back in the day....

I thought M'Baye was keeping the title warm for Khan.

He would certainly be a better bet in any kind of mandatory defence, than Rees.

Maybe(and I certainly hope so)we are being a tad cynical, and M'Baye just totally underestimated little Gavin, and things like keeping titles "warm" don't go on... :-?

Is Rees the one for Amir Khan to take the title from and get his world championship before 21?

Rees was terrific - M'Baye just totaly underestimated him, he was must have thought he'd have an easy night when he saw how short and untested the Welsh man was.

Then Rees absolutely shocked him in the first - those body shots took a lot out of him.

Unless Kotelnik starts to struggle with weight then it remains him first go..

Watch out for Rees-Kotelnik on the Calzaghe-Kessler undercard
