The Bika fight was a good display by Joe against a very tough customer.Crew2 wrote:The Mkrtchian, Salem, Ashira, Bika and Manfredo fights were a complete joke, were they not.?Twisted Transistor wrote:Calzaghe doesn't get your juices following
Benn, Watson, Thornton, Holmes, Rocchigiani > Reid, Woodhall, Mitchell, Brewer, Lacyboxingchat wrote:Calzaghe has fought better quality oposition than Eubank ever did
Thornton and Holmes are no big deal though. Also, Joe did get stateside recognition as champion, which Eubank didn't. Good job, because Calzaghe isn't the British star that Eubank was (though his profile has admittedly boosted after Lacy and Manfredo...)Crew2 wrote:Benn, Watson, Thornton, Holmes, Rocchigiani > Reid, Woodhall, Mitchell, Brewer, Lacyboxingchat wrote:Calzaghe has fought better quality oposition than Eubank ever did
Dont make me laugh, mate
They are to James Toney, He said last year "Chris Eubank fought two good fighters in his career, Tony Thornton and Lindell Holmes. Joe Calzaghe hasn't fought one"Crew2 wrote:Thornton and Holmes are no big deal though.
And doesn't nearly every world class fight have bad or joke fights?Crew2 wrote:The Mkrtchian, Salem, Ashira, Bika and Manfredo fights were a complete joke, were they not.?Twisted Transistor wrote:Calzaghe doesn't get your juices following
Terry D wrote:Hatton is the linear Champion at LW Boxingchat, that still means something. To be honest I don't think there was ever much to avoid in M'Baye, he was a weak title-holder.
Probably for the same reason a hotel employee would 'avoid' a job in the Novotel, Manchester to work in The Ritz.boxingchat wrote:Terry D wrote:Hatton is the linear Champion at LW Boxingchat, that still means something. So why did he avoid him then?
he's only put on two good shows lately what about all the crap he's put ondopey wrote:How can you say that? Lacy was the test, he was coming over a bit like McCellen was suppposed to with Benn to sort Joe out and Joe handed out a sublime beating over 12 rounds, one of the best perfomances ever in a British ring.Crew2 wrote:
Calzaghe for example hasnt fought a single soul since Eubank and Eubank admits he'd have taken Joe if he was in shape, now his promoter has shyed away from the top Americans like Hopkins, Taylor, Wright etc and got Calzaghe yet another average European who nobody knows or cares about. This has been going on for 10 years.! How much longer ??
Has Joe ducked them? These top Americans never fought Joe, Nigel, Chris or Steve and I for one can't believe all those fighters ducked them, Nigel went to the US and fought Barkley ffs.
For the record what proper titles does Haye and Froch hold that Arthur et al have in the past?
Don't forget Warren delivered Hatton the fight of his life at excatly the right time.
Warren isn't blameless for a lot of things said about him but he has the best fighters and now is putting on some quality cards, long may it continue.
I wonder how long before Froch and maybe Haye come over the SN camp.

Hatton vacated the WBA title rather than fight M'Baye and vacated the IBF title rather than fight Rabbah. These are facts that cannot be disputed. He has not fought Witter becasue quite simply, whatever he say's, the thought makes him shivver. Personally, for me he beats Witter and should have taken him long ago when the odds were more heavily stacked in his favour. Now with him wearing out and Witter still fresh it may be more difficult.Terry D wrote:To be fair BC may come on and use the Witter serum. M'Baye is training local so why did Hatton not clean-up his own backyard.Autobarn wrote:Yeah, this is idiocy to say Hatton was ducking M'baye. M'baye never even beat Kotelnik fairly over two fights, lost to Harris, then got humiliated by Rees.
To be equally fair I will ask why Khan went straight to Commonwealth level instead of going for the British title?
I will then expect a one-sentence reply. Internet, idiots, knowledge, insider, MALENE!
Not too much of what you have posted makes a lot of sense to me - Kessler an average European!!! no way - Its a tough legitimate fight between two champions - You dont have to fight a yank to prove you are the best, and a win over Kessler means Joe is genuinely number 1 - He can then go for a yank or have a yank challenge him - OK Joe doesnt have the personality and charisma of Ricky Hatton but who else does - I reckon Ricky could do standup and make a living - I think you are wrong about people outside of Wales not caring a toss about Calzaghe and Rees - Joe has a lot of fans in England and Rees will sell tickets after his last performance - Hatton is Britains most popular boxer and Haye has a huge following also - Have to agree with you, but most would anyway, about Eubank and Benn being the last glory days of boxing - That could happen again if Joe was to fight Froch, we need another great domestic dust up - Maybe it wouldnt make as much as a fight against Hopkins but it would be a far better fight for the fans and a great TV spectacular.Crew2 wrote:We all know that the big fighters in Britain are Hatton, Haye, Witter and Froch. They hold the proper titles and fight the proper fighters
What about Sports Network fighters though like Khan, Matt Skelton, Joe Calzaghe, Gavin Rees etc? These fighers dont get my juices flowing
I dont think anybody outside of Wales gives a flying damn about Rees, Calzaghe etc. I know its hard to sell Calzaghe because of his boring personality, but atleast fight somebody some day, will you? If he loses his next bout, he and his promoter are exposed as frauds. For the good of British boxing, Lets hope he loses
These kind of people have ruined boxing in Britain. The Benn, Eubank days seem a loong time ago unfortunately, but atleast we have hope in Ricky Hatton, and David Haye and Carl Froch -- these 3 can bring back the Benn, Eubank glory days imo
