Gavin Rees has beaten a top #7 fighter in his devision... Froch hasn't.

That is pretty much it.

Hmmm... How come sometimes rankings are adjudged to be meaningless (contrived and engineered by governing bodies) and at other times used to underpin how good someone is for the sake of argument?

Froch is more of a talent than Rees. I suppose it depends what the criteria are for these rankings.

Mbaye is on a par with Tatevosyan IMO in terms of overall talent

M'Baye the night he fought Rees was on a par with Peter Buckley.

We are talking about independent rankings, rather than sanctioning bodies rankings. Surely they have some meaning?

Perhaps I should have put Rees below Froch and Eastman, due to their much better overall records. But Rees beat a reigning "big four" World champion and now holds the WBA belt, so I had to have him somewhere near the top, and I thought the spot above Eastman looked about right.

Where would you have put him on my list?

But M'baye had the WBA title and was highly ranked. Tatevosyan had lost numerous times and was not highly ranked.

Yes M'baye was crap.

I appreciate your thoughts on the matter. I have not seen much of Tatevosyan so I would not know.
