boxingchatter wrote:Talking of race-hate in boxing? Was anyone there at O2 to hear Amir get a load of abuse from Mitchell supporters? Did it actually happen?
Couldn't hear it on TV but Star wrote it was pretty bad.
Didn't hear any. There was some friendly banter between Khan's Asian fans and a band of Limond support in an adjacent block of seats, but nothing sinister.

I was sitting inbetween those fans directly and it was quite funny nothing nasty you could see Khans fans laughing as the Scots got into it.

I sort of concede that one but nevertheless the 'Bacon Dodger' comment was still uncalled for.Jewish people consider their religion and race to be one and the same so your comments may offend.
Who was the British and Jewish promoter out of interest?
Dont realy care too much but saying its his religion not his race is a weak arguement.
Call some slant eyes (features)Cotton picker (Job)Frog (animal)Bog hopper (not sure)Raghead (clothing)
None of these are mentioning race but try using and them and ul be banned pretty quick,so why would bacon dodger be any differnt?
It is not a weak argument, just a sophisticated one.
You can dislike/disagree with a belief/religion a person has without hating or disliking the person (and I don‘t know Greenberg, he may be a nice kid, but he‘s a crap fighter). Likewise not having any respect for an institution does not automatically follow I don’t have respect for any particular individual who has that belief or follows that religion.
Again, I wasn’t being racist towards Greenberg. Merely I think religion - all of them, even the cool ones like Jason and the Argonaughts - are stupid. If Evander Holyfield etc can spout pro-religious crap in the ring, don’t dump on me for making on dumb comment on a forum.
If anything, Greenberg is the racist as evidenced here by his very own cheerleader Clive Bernath

So you think the above names i wrote are ok to use in everyday language and will not offend then?
They are the same as yours not mentioning race but aimed at a certain section of people. If you agree that the names iv put are ok to use then bacond dodger is no different.

People were cu nting off my people before the average Englishman had ever seen a black bloke - but admittedly after the Jews....
I think you can say anything you like in jest. I certainly dont think pork-dodger is wrong, anymore for a Jew than a Lesbian!

What has all this got to do with boxing?
Yeah criticise Greenburg until the cows come home but all the rest of it really has no relevance to this forum.

Im not fussed, its all in the past and we are calling it a draw lol, but it gets my goat when people moan about racism
- the Jews because they are dishing a bit out themselves now, but not against the mighty Germans, oh no, a poor bunch of arabs who got evicted in '48
- and the blacks because in percentage terms we got fucked worse than they did im convinced of it.
But by and large (this post being the exception) I and most other Irish people dont make a song and dance over it..... we even came and built your roads for you!
felt good to get that off my chest lol

You didn't build roads for me mate, my dad was one of the thousands of paddies who came over to work on building sites in the mid fifties.

Mildly offensive term for Irishman, usually the Catholic Variety.... the French call the English Rosbifs, that sort of level of name-calling
