I'd only go for Reid If he was still In his prime or had something left.

Would not even go for him then. Froch is one of the most underrated fighters around.

Taking shots to give shots, leaning back with the left hand low then pot shotting plus having average handspeed Is underrated how?
He's too power reliant.
Reid was a good counter puncher In his heydey.

we may not have seen the best of Froch. He got on with it more against Tatevosyan, which was encouraging. Remember back to the early-mid 90s when Calzaghe had a dodgy weird style and no one believed he was going to be a world champion?

I wasn't a boxing fan till 2004 so I wouln't remember those days.
I have said maybe Carl will be a Fringe belt holder but not for long. Worse fighters have gotten belts.
Didn't Tatesvosyan come off a one sided fight to Bute In less than 2 months before he fought Froch too?

Bute never hurt Tatevosyan at all, that fight had no effect IMO
Tatevosyan was still the same fighter when he stepped into the ring with Froch.
I have seen almost every Bute fight on tape and I like him, he's a slick fighter.
But for Carl it's life and death, Bute has not shown 10% of the fighting spirit Froch has thus far. So until he does Froch destroys Bute within 5 rounds IMO.
But that said, I would love to see it
They seem to be two fighters that careers have paralleled each others.
Big fan bases, meteoric rises in the ratings in the last two years,
lets hope they get it on at some point!

I'd say Reid is at the stage where any kind of prolonged beating will see him pulled out. I'd say a stoppage for Froch somewhere between 8-10.

I'd pick Bute to beat Froch. Froch wil get found out when he steps up to world level. He doesn't have anywhere near the reflexes to get away with his low hands style. What happens when a fighter can actually absorb his shots and keep coming? Then he's in the shit.
If Magee could outbox him at times Bute certainly can.

Froch doesn't have the relexes he wishes he did have, but the way he responds immediately to any kind of success his opponent has, is very impressive. It's clearly instinctive.
Froch is tough enough, and reliable enough to take some significant scalps I feel.

OK, so you don't want non SN fighters to do well and won't accept that they can. How sad is that?

I wouldn't. Like the guy above said, Bute lacks aggression though he has big talent.
Froch's key to improvement is not waiting. It's crucial that he comes forward. As he did against Tatevosyan. He can't box anything like Bute's quality but he could possibly outgun him.
Not seen Bute draw on that extra reserves yet. Maybe he has it. Maybe not. Froch has shown he can dig deep.
Nonetheless, Bute's fought the better comp by far and already has his title shot waiting for him so fair play to the Canadians.

Errrrm no I want every British prospect to do well, I just don't think Froch Is as good as most here make out.
I want Witter to do well and he's not a Sports Network fighter and he's my second favourite fighter to Calzaghe.
Why do you guys assume this shit?
I want Hatton and Haye to do well In their upcoming fights too and I hope Woods gets a better fight after Gonzalez Instead of recycled IBF mandatries.
I think Warren Is a good promoter but you guys need to stop assuming I'm that biased for Sports Network just because I don't always agree with the majority.

Not a fight I am looking forward to - Robin Reid was without doubt very good a few years ago, but his heyday is long over - You can only see one outcome so for me its a bit of a pointless fight - Fair enough this is Frochs first fight with a world class opponent who has held a title but Reid is well past the class he was once in - Having said that Reid wont be easy to stop and I cant see Froch looking good against him - I too can see Froch calling out the winner of Calzaghe/Kessler but I wouldnt give him a chance against either - If he does step up to current world class rather than former as is the case with Reid I can see him getting his first loss.

Fair enough.
I'm more ambivalent about SN. I like how Macca's turned out but to be honest, watching him get to this stage has been laborious and in truth they should have had better main events to his WBU fights. I was blown away by the Calzaghe who beat Lacy but thought he was amateurish v Bika and was disgusted by his fight vs Manfredo.
Not sure whether I believe SN are putting Macca into another big fight.
I hope all the major promoters do well, world title wise, but that they will actually leanr to deal with each other for top domestic fights.

Looking forward to this one, but can see why some are negative, because Reid is dirty so and so and a spoiler.
That said Robin still packs a wallop, and Froch is not scared to take one to land his own punches, so that makes it interesting.
The fight could be messy, but it's still a high quality match for the British title. Despite Froch's devastating job on his last opponent, he'll do well to top Lacy's performance against Reid. Just stick to winning the fight Frochy!

Reid will not get near Froch. He is too old and slow and Froch will dent Reid's determination and confidence by simply throwing fast combinations everytime Reid comes rushing in. Reid is to slow to counter anything Froch does and most of the time will be hitting thin air.
Clever matchmaking by Hennessy. Although with that said Froch has to stop Reid for anyone to take notice of a victory against a fighter whose better days are well and truly gone.

It's just a payday for Reid sadly. If he can't motivate or gets things organised for a proper world title shot 2 years ago, why would he be able to now?

Pointless fight.. Id rather see Froch smoking someone like Veit's boots than this....

yeah its just a payday. reid has nothing left and wont be bringing any motivation. I may even have a bet on a froch early KO.
